Shane Smith (Mr. Speed)

"I have been using Clayton's Acetal picks for over 12 years. Their picks are long-lasting and durable. In addition to quality picks, Clayton has great customer service and a quick turnaround on orders. I discovered them years ago when I started looking for custom designed picks and never looked back."

Shane Smith is the fire breathing, blood spitting Demon of the KISS tribute band, Mr. Speed. Shane’s love for KISS began in the mid-70’s after being exposed to the albums “Love Gun” and “Alive II”. His first KISS concert was December 12, 1987, during the “Crazy Nights” tour.
Shane was born and raised in Cumberland, RI and started playing bass when he was 13. His playing style was heavily influenced by Gene Simmons -his primary reason for picking up a bass and for playing with a pick. Shane played with a variety of original and cover bands before entering the KISS tribute world.
Shane slowly began making a name for himself as a KISS tribute artist. He started filling in as The Demon for several KISS tribute bands in addition to being in a tribute band of his own. In May of 2022, Shane joined former KISS members Vinnie Vincent, Bruce Kulick, and Ace Frehley on stage during an event called “Creatures Fest”. Shane had been invited to be part of that event in January of that year. His involvement in that event resulted in the introduction to Rich Kosak, founding member and “The Starchild” of Mr. Speed, who would become not only a good friend, but his bandmate. Shane officially joined Mr. Speed in January of 2024.
Mr. Speed was formed in Pittsburgh in 1994 by guitarist and vocalist Rich Kosak, who plays the Paul Stanley role. For over 30 years, they've performed KISS classics around the country, becoming known around the world for their passionate performances and elaborate show. In 2012, they were crowned "The Best KISS Tribute Band in the World" by KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer, and were featured on AXS TV's "The World's Greatest Tribute Bands" in 2014.
