Bluejay Friese

“The first time I played my acoustic with a Clayton pick, I knew I couldn’t go back. Beautiful tone, great feel, and none of that plastic flicky noise that had always bothered me with other picks.”

Bluejay Friese’s songs arrive like postcards—creased at the corners, salt-stained, and sent straight from the soul. With more than two million streams and a voice that can hush a noisy room, his music leans into vulnerability, humour, and stories that feel instantly familiar and enveloped in folk, country, and indie textures.

His debut full-length album Postcards was released on March 13, 2026.

His performances have taken him from Victoria’s Rifflandia and Seattle’s Northwest Folklife to stages across the west coast, but his reach has grown worldwide through SiriusXM’s The Coffee House and Spotify Editorial playlists like Renegades. His folk-lullaby version of Bob Marley's Three Little Birds, recorded for Netflix’s Lost in Space, turned into a sleeper hit—earning 80K Shazams and holding a place on soundtrack charts for four years.

As actor Ajay Friese, he’s also known for roles in Lost In Space, Riverdale, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, and The Order. Currently, he stars alongside Kevin Kline and Laura Linney in the MGM+/Amazon’s comedy American Classic, playing a singer-songwriter who feels uncannily familiar.

Bluejay is a three-time CBC Searchlight National Top 100 finalist; two-time Vancouver Island Music Award winner; and The Zone 91.3 FM’s February 2026 ‘Band Of The Month’.

He is proudly supported by Clayton Custom Picks, Martin Guitars, John Pearse Strings, and Paige Capos.

0.50mm to 0.80mm gauge. I'm not sure which Clayton picks are my favourite yet because I currently don't own any! I'm looking forward to getting my fingers on some but haven't placed an order yet, and none of the stores in my hometown are carrying them. The few I have used have all been incredible – however they are now lost, as picks so often are.
