Rock Out with Custom Picks

We always like to take time to show off the cool designs that we produce for our custom picks, and here is a new collection! It is safe to say that many of the customers who order our custom picks have a passion for music, and we liked these designs because they managed to incorporate different types of musical equipment in their art. As you can see, we have a microphone, a speaker, headphones, and a boom-box…all designs submitted to us recently. These pieces of equipment are all things that help to feed our love for music, so why not put them on a guitar pick? If you are interested in what type of picks are shown here, we have a standard white delrin (the microphone pick), a rounded triangle ultem (speaker) and two acetal picks. All of the materials work very well with the designs created for them. To try out your design, visit our custom guitar pick website today!

Cool and White

Are you looking for a simple custom pick with a lot of design possibilities? Then give our white delrin picks a try! White delrins are one of the less-expensive materials that we offer for custom pick design, starting at just $39 for 100 picks!  They can be a great choice, whether you are a musician wanting to rock out with personal picks, or if you work for a company that wants a new promotion idea. White delrins are the picks that we generally recommend for two-sided designs, especially if the design has more than one color in it. Shown here are some examples of some great white delrin designs that we have produced recently. These picks work especially well with designs that are bold and bright. White delrin picks are available in three different gauges according to your preference: .8mm, 1mm, and 1.26mm. Log on to Clayton Custom Guitar Picks today to design your white delrin pick.

Face-off

Many of our customers like to put photos on their picks, of friends, family, pets, or themselves. Sometimes, a fun alternative to a photo pick can be a cartoon or black-ink-only version of a face like the picks shown here. Photos can turn out great, but if you are looking for a design that is more simple, or that is in one color only, there is still a way to get your face on a pick! The picks shown here are white delrin, yellow delrin, and acetal. Even though these designs are not full color photos, the facial features are enough to create a unique personalized look. These types of picks can be great for musicians who might want to throw out some picks to their fans during a concert. Or, they can be  for weddings to give out as favors to all the friends and family of the happy couple. The possibilities are endless. Usually customers who choose this option will have black-only for a lithograph look, but there are others that create cartoon-type caricatures of themselves like the pick shown at the bottom of this image. So, if you want to put your favorite face on a pick, visit www.claytoncustom.com and have fun!

Pick of the Week, Backlife

This week we are featuring a detailed black ink imprint on our White Delrin picks by the band Backlife.  Backlife is a french Power Pop Rock Band that has been together for over 5 years! They released their first album in December 9th called “Life, Death & Rebirth”.  Not only do they peform in their own country, but they have started doing performances in other countries as well.

Springtime: Birds and Trees

Here’s another look at some cool designs that we have been producing recently. We have noticed that some great spring-time art has been submitted throughout the months of March and April. The designs shown here all use birds and trees, and we feel that this art is both aesthetically pleasing and works well on the small design space of the custom picks. It seems that birds and trees are a trend in the world of graphic art currently…and now they are showing up at Steve Clayton, Inc.! The pick materials vary for these designs. Included in the photo here are ultem, white delrin, and white pearl. Both of the bird design picks shown are also further examples of wedding picks. If you would like to try out your own spring design, visit our custom pick design website!

Animal Picks

Some customers choose to put photos on their picks, others just want text or a logo. Then there are the few customers that want to have a really cool animal design on their picks! We wanted to show off a few of the animal designs that we have produced recently. Even though animal designs can have a high amount of detail, such as the tiger pick shown here, they can look really great on our picks. The pick materials shown include white delrin, blue delrin,  and white pearl. As you can see, we are able to create these picks whether they are black and white or color designs. So, for a new and interesting twist, you might want to consider using your favorite animal as the basis for a pick design! These are also a great idea for those customers who are looking into using our custom picks for promoting the environment and preservation of wildlife.

Pick of the Week, Forgetful Jones

This week we selected a pick from the band Forgetful Jones . They are a really cool band from Boston that plays a eclectic style of Hard Rock, Funk, Reggae, and Blues. They are quoted as their music being a “reflection of their individual and collective struggles, trials and triumphs”  Their music is influenced by legendary artists which include James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.  Their pick is printed on our white delrin .80mm material. We love this pick, because it really shows how detailed we can get with our printing.  All of those little tiny circles really came out crisp and clean. We also love the red and black combo. It is great pick that really gets the bands name out to their fans.  You can find out more about the band Forgetful Jones on their myspace page at: http://www.myspace.com/fjrock. If you are in the  Massachusetts area please be sure to check this band out!

Black and White

Lately, at the Clayton custom department, we have been noticing some really cool black and white designs created by our customers, and we wanted to show them off! All of these designs were created for white delrin picks, and they have a really classy look. Using a full bleed black and white design can create the illusion of having a patterned pick, such as the pick shown on the farthest left. There is a lot of freedom with these kinds of designs, even though only one color is used, and they are always eye-catching. Whether they are for a band, a wedding, or a business promotion, black and white art is an example of how simplicity can often be the best way of creating an appealing design.

Pick of the Week, 6:AM!

This week we selected a guitar pick with a fun alarm clock on it.  We love this graphic, because it really fits the shape of the guitar pick.   This pick is printed our our White Delrin material, which really make the clock stand out. 6:AM is an all original hard rock band based out of San Jose, 6:AM has been rocking the bay area for over 7 years. Their music is an obvious mixture of each of the member’s unique musical style and influences…ranging from classic rock, 80’s metal, Straight ahead rock of the 90’s and far beyond. The band’s musical D.N.A. is made up of solid Bass and Drums, Catchy, dirty Guitars riffs and rich powerful vocals. If you are in the bay area make sure to check this band out! For more information on them please check out their website.

Wedding Picks

Here at Clayton, Inc. we have noticed that many people choose Clayton custom picks to add a little flare to their wedding receptions. Some picks simply include the name of the couple and

the date, while others choose to add matrimonial graphics. We even have a special section in our online custom designer that has images specifically for wedding picks. More durable than anything printed on paper, the custom wedding picks are the perfect favors to give out that will help your guests remember your special day. Shown here are a few examples of the wedding

picks that we love, printed on white delrin and acetal. Also, our own employee Rob chose to design picks for his brother’s wedding (shown at right on light blue pearl)and he says that his brother and sister-in-law

both loved the picks and appreciated the originality of the idea. If you are looking for a fun addition to your wedding, consider custom picks from Clayton!

Clayton Custom Pick of the Week!

Here at Clayton, Inc, we have decided to feature a custom pick each week from now forward! We think this is a great way to showcase many of the great picks we make for bands every day.  Keep checking in each week to see a new featured pick and band from us.

This week we selected a pick we made for the Nancy Kenyon Band.  We loved how colorful and detailed this pick turned out on our white delrin .80mm material. It is a great example that shows what amazing detail and color we can produce onto a guitar pick.  We also enhanced this pick by using glossy ink to really make the graphic “pop” on the pick. We had a great time learning more about Nancy Kenyon and her high energy female country style.   She has been doing acoustic style shows for over 15 years! Now within the past few years she has a full band and is starting to do big venues. Her next notable show will be at Jillian’s in Albany, NY, which will be an after party for Carrie Underwood’s Albany concert.  It begins at 11pm if any of you are interested in seeing this amazing band! St. Patty’s Picks

Well, March is just around the corner and we have already started noticing the designs that are indicating the coming of St. Patrick’s Day. We already love the combination of green and black, so why not create some custom shamrock guitar picks to help celebrate the occasion? We offer green delrin picks in .8 mm gauge, which are already a popular choice for custom picks year-round. We also offer green colored pearl picks, in varying shades depending on your taste. Only black designs can be printed on these picks, so if you are looking to create a green design, we recommend white delrin or acetal picks. So visit our website at www.claytoncustom.com and try your luck at designing a St. Patty’s Day Pick!

Eric Church 2010 Tour Picks

Eric Church is one of our endorsed artists and we just wanted to let you know he is one of country’s hardest working artists. We could say working a little bit too hard after last fall.   While performing in New York, he was stomping so hard on stage that he hurt his ankle. He still finished the show and is ready to set the stage for his 2010 tour with our Clayton custom picks. Here are the picks you might get at one of his shows if you’re lucky. He’s already sold out for this Thursday’s show at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.  Church’s picks are the white pearl rounded triangle with the gauge at 1mm.  The white delrin 1mm standard pick is another choice for Church. He has a top 10 hit with his song “Love Your Love the Most,”
one of his songs on his new Carolina album. Another big hit on the album is “Hell On the Heart.” Eric is a rising star that we are excited to follow this year. We look forward to supporting Eric Church during his 2010 tour.

If you are an artist that is also interested in becoming endorsed by us, you may mail us information regarding record label, band picture, tour schedule, and type of Clayton picks you use. There is a full list of information you can find through our contact information on our Steve Clayton website. Any questions you have for us you may email to questions@steveclayton.com.

How long was that line???

I have been asked so many times how long our line was at NAMM to meet Kyle Gass.  We do know that it spanned a couple of isles and was extremly long. We were lucky enough to recently obtain some video footage that shows at least half of the length of the line. The other half of the line goes to the right, and was broken up in order to allow traffic to flow by. Click on the picture below to view the Quicktime movie.

Pictures of our NAMM booth

We have been getting lots of requests to put up pictures of our 2010 NAMM booth. I finally got around to getting them on here.  We had a double decker booth this year with a lounge at the top.  In addition we had 2 sound proof offices to conduct meetings in. As anyone who has ever been to NAMM knows, it is very loud! Without the sound proof rooms it can be quite impossible to get any business done, especially in Hall C were we are located.

Cirque du Soleil – Chris Angel and Viva Elvis Pick Necklaces

We just got done doing a large pick necklace order for both Cirque du Soleil Chris Angel and Viva Elvis.  These are both amazing shows, so next time you are in Vegas make sure to check them out!

Below are descriptions of each of the shows:

“Viva ELVIS®, a harmonious fusion of dance, acrobatics and live music, is a tribute to the life and music of Elvis Presley. Nostalgia, modernity and raw emotion provide the backdrop for his immortal voice and the exhilaration and beauty of his music.” Click to visit the Viva Elvis Site

“CRISS ANGEL® Believe™ will be a haunting exploration deep inside the inventive mind of mystifier Criss Angel as he hovers between the land of the living and a surreal world uniquely woven together by the distinctive imaginations of Criss Angel and Cirque du Soleil.” Click to visit the Chris Angel Believe Site

Custom White Delrin Favorites

We pulled a few of our favorite picks this week that were printed on White Delrin. We get asked a lot if full color designs with lots of detail like

custom picks

custom picks

the pick that is covered with a background in this set if it would look best on acetal, delrin or pearl. It really just depends. If you are looking for a softer matte finish then the acetal would work great for your image. However if you have bright colors or are looking for a glossy look the white delrin would suite your needs. Sometimes we are surprised by the intricate designs that turn out like the full bleed shown here. It has such fine crisp details that really turned out nice on the White Delrin. Sketches like this tend to turn out the best on white delrin, however, if is just a black and white sketch it looks just as great on the acetal. Hot pinks and baby blues are something we see a lot of, if your design has these two colors in it we would suggest the white delrin. As you can see these colors really pop on the bright white background of the white delrin picks.  We hope you enjoyed these samples of  some of the orders we have been working on this week :).

A Perfect Pair!

Red and Black always seem to turn out flawless together. redblackThese are some that we just imprinted this week. This combination is one of the most popular color schemes that we imprint. The Cherry and IRAL pick is a good example of what kind of coverage of solid black we can imprint. We often get many orders with a solid black background and just a name or small logo on it. We usually do not accept this for imprinting because it tends to not turn out quite so well and with past orders we had complaints about the outcome. Now we recommend that you do not imprint the pick with more then 50% coverage of a single solid color. The way the IRAL pick uses a large white imprint and some red with the black  we were able to print it flawlessly. The Cherries use a little more black, but as you can see put together it’s not more then 50% coverage so it turned out well too. If you are looking for a black background, we would really suggest getting our Black Raven picks instead. Speaking of black raven we should have included a scan of one with red on it. The red and white really look great on our Black Raven. You can check out examples of this on an older post of mine named Black Raven.

Giving back to our community

We just donated several custom picks to a local business called Dasil, they are a Community Drop-In Center for people with disabilities, dashil the homeless, and those struggling with poverty and is a non-profit organization. They recently approached us for a donation of custom picks to use as their business cards for the Project Homeless Connect 2009 event on June 5th. We agreed to give them several picks, which you can see in the scan. They actually requested that we put our logo on the picks which was kind of them :). The Project will be providing many services such as medical/dental screenings, hygiene products, meals, childcare, vision screening, employment counseling, mental health screening, financial conseling, clothing, domestic violence services, haircuts, sleeping bags/blankets as well as several more. We are proud to have our picks featured in this amazing event in our community and hope it helps people find their way to Dasil or other organizations like it.

Picks for Intel

intelWe just completed a new order of picks for Intel. We have done picks for them in the past on Acetal, White Delrin and Blue Delrin. This time they chose to go with the White Delrin which complements their blue logo very well! We often make picks for companies, and not just guitarists :). Custom Picks are a great way to promote your business! Instead of handing out the traditional business card, hand out a custom guitar pick instead. It’s very memorable and won’t just get thrown in a walet, trash or forgotten. Also, if your having an event for your company this would be a great hand out instead of pens, pencils or notepads. Yes, the pick is small but believe it or not we can fit a ton of text on these! We can often fit a logo with a phone and email on one side of the pick. If you are hosting a large event and are in need of more then 1,000 picks we can print in much larger quanties up to the 1,000,000’s :). Just call us for a quote, we also can accomadate most in hands dates.

Rockin’ Wedding Pick!

This wedding pick is by far a staff favorite! michelleWe really liked how it is kind of like a comic type drawing. These colors turned out great on the white delrin because the bright white background allowed the colors to really pop. It was originally tested on Acetal which gave it a softer look, however, with these colors and the sharp detail in the lines it was better suited to white delrin. If we haven’t mentioned it before Delrin is great for fine lines, and intriciate detailing. The soft, smooth surface allows for sharp imprinting, as you can see in the text on the backside.

Skulls!

I don’t know what’s going on this week, but we’ve had an unusal amount of orders for skulls this past week. Here are a few that are my favorite. I really like the Otis pick, the skull rocks that hat! skullI also really like the overbleed skull on the Acetal Rounded Triangle. As you can see it has a two sided imprint on it. The thinner the Acetal is the more transparent it becomes so if you are going to have it imprinted with two sides we would suggest atleast getting .63mm or thicker. The rest were printed on the Delrin material. We have stock picks available that feature different skull designs. These are the Demonic Skulls of course, they come with 6 different designs. They are printed on Delrin, and available in thin, medium and heavy. You can now order them direct for our website by clicking here.

Chick Picks!

chickpicks

We’ve been making picks for the company Chick Picks for a couple of years now. They sell guitar pick earrings. They have some very intricite designs, and even add accents to the guitar picks that completely look like the picks were made for earrings. You can check out their website by clicking here. These are a couple of picks we did for them this week that we wanted to share. They always order White Delrin because it works very well with the intricate overbleeds they usually use. The snakeskin turned outpicks1 gorgeous on the delrin with the mixutre of bright and dark, it looks as if the pick is textured however it is smooth to the touch. They also went with a simpler flower design that looks very sharp!

10% off Through April 30th

In case you missed out on our newsletter, we are currently offering a 10% discount custom orders placed through April 30th.blog1 Just use the promotional code APRL09 to get 10% when checking out. This week we’ve had quite a variety of different custom picks. Here are few we did this week. We’ve been making the Helmet guitar picks for guitarist Page Hamilton for years now on our Acetal Rounded Triangle 1.52 and he just recently ordered more. The brighter colors that were printed on the pearl really look amazing and stand on out well even though the pick itself is so colorful. If you are looking to have a bright color printed we would suggest getting the pearl as the colors almost always turn out looking amazing on this pick. It really shows that black isn’t the only color that looks good on the pearl :). I actually spoke to the customer who ordered the pirate pick and we had a hard time choosing between Acetal or White Delrin. After discussing the differences between the two he chose White Delrin, and I couldn’t agree more with his decision. It turned out stunning! The sketch of the couple is also imprinted on White Delrin.

Custom Picks – Green

Hmm wasn’t St. Pattys day last month? Well it must be spring fever then because we’ve had several Green orders this month!green_pick1 Most of the picks featured are on Green Delrin which is made out of a very durable material and is one of the most popular and widely used materials available. We offer Delrin is 5 other colors such as red, orange, yellow, blue, and purple. They are colored according to gauge. The Green Delrin is made on the .88mm gauge which is a slighly heavier medium gauge. The one in the middle is on our Color Pearl which is made out of celluloid. This one was for a wedding, and was colored to match the wedding colors. The really exciting feature about the Color Pearl is that we can color it to match just about any color you choose! And you can choose the gauge as well, so basically it is compeletely customized to suite your needs. Also, believe it or not our White Delrin is in that circle featuring a full green over bleed. If you can’t pick them out it is the Joe Bachman Crew pick and the one with faint white lines next to the Colfax pick. It’s a good example of what we use the “full bleed” feature for. We normally don’t suggest covering the whole pick with a solid background, however, these 2 are great examples of what can be done. A background that has other colors in it with a logo usually turns out great with a full bleed. We would suggest using either the Acetal Polymer or White Delrin picks for full bleeds.

Custom Picks – White Delrin

So I decided to pull out my favorite White Delrin picks for the month…and I came up with quite a few. White Delrin is probably my

Custom Guitar Picks

Custom Guitar Picks

favorite material that we have just because of how well every logo seems to turn out on it. It is a solid bright white guitar pick, so everything really pops on it. As you can see in the White Rose pick, and the VC pick the brighter colors look very nice and pop out on it. I also thought that the B&P photo turned out gorgeous on this material. All the details of the photo came out very crisp and clear. There’s also a wedding pick in the pile somewhere :), in the spring/summer months we do several orders for weddings. The most popular saying is something like Stephanie Picked John, or John Picked Stephanie with the date. But I’ve been seeing a lot of unique ones lately with designs surrounding their intials. Congrats to all the newly weds! If your looking for a high quality pick but are also interested in your image really standing out I would suggest getting the white delrin. It will definitely suite these needs.
