Pick of the Week — Mike Goncalves of HIP KITTY

This week’s Pick of the Week was created for guitarist Mike Goncalves. Mike is the lead guitar player for HIP KITTY. HIP KITTY is a female-fronted rock band based out of Nashville, TN. They play over 250 dates a year from Key West to Alaska. They work with AFE (Armed Forces Entertainment) and play military bases all around the globe in support of our troops. They have 2 songs; “Other Personality” and “Stuck in a Rut” off of their album The Art of War that appear on ROCK BAND. They just released their latest self-titled album. It is now available on itunes or can be purchased at hipkittyband.com. Mike’s site: facebook.com/mike.goncalves2. The HIP KITTY picks were made on our white delrin material, which is great to showcase the bright colors in the design. Create your own custom picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Pick of the Week — Fragile Apples

This week’s Pick of the Week was designed for the band Fragile Apples. We liked the simplicity and creativity of the design..the bold black graphic works out really well on our white delrin picks. Benjamin Olson and The Fragile Apples from Nashville, TN are an independent Rock ‘N’ Roll band who have the direct mission of making live music fun again! Involving as many fun characters as possible, as well as combining soaring vocals with killer guitars and grooves, The Fragile Apples are dancing their way into the hearts of those who join them at their concerts (parties). In addition to steady touring, Olson released his 4th studio album, “You Are Here” in 2010 and was featured on the Roy Orbison tribute album “Under The Covers” with his version of “Working For The Man.” Join them on Facebook for updates, pictures, videos and more: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Benjamin-Olson/20895138280?v=wall&viewas=0

Rock Your Wedding!

This week at Steve Clayton, Inc., we had a really nice design submitted by a customer for guitar picks for his wedding. We wanted to write a blog about it, simply because the art is really cool! As you can see, the artwork includes a guitar, flames, roses, and the date of the wedding. The colors go really nicely together, and look awesome on our white delrin guitar pick material. The other side of the pick has the same design, but with the name of the happy couple instead of the date. Custom guitar picks can make a unique addition to any wedding. They are already pretty popular, but we want even more people to know about this option! This is why we have created a new website: customweddingpicks.com. This site is designed specifically to help out customers that are interested in custom wedding picks. We are always looking for more ideas to add to the site too! If you have photos of your custom picks from your wedding, or a cool wedding pick design like the one shown here, or have any questions about wedding picks, please write to us at weddingpicks@steveclayton.com. To start designing your picks, visit claytoncustom.com!

Pick Art

We have had some customers submit some really cool pick art recently, and we wanted to show off these designs! All of them are very colorful, and they were created using various types of artwork. The pick on the far left was made using a cartoon image, on our white delrin picks. The center pick has a painting on it, which appears 3D on our white pearl picks. The pick on the far right uses a nice photo of northern lights to create a unique look. For full color art such as the designs shown here, we offer three different white pick materials that can support these types of designs. This image is a great way to compare how the three types of white picks (white delrin, white pearl, and acetal) are different from each other. Also, we have two picks in this image (the  two outside picks) that demonstrate use of the full bleed option. Choosing full bleed for your custom picks means that the design will go all the way to the edge of the pick and not have a border. Create your own custom pick design today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Pick of the Week — Adelaide

This week’s Pick of the Week was created for a band called Adelaide. We really liked the detail of their design…it looks awesome on our white delrin picks. Adelaide is a metal band from Chicago IL composed of four high school seniors.  They started 3 years ago and are playing some awesome shows. Last year they competed against several bands in a “battle of the bands” competition for the genre of metal and won… they were titled “Winners of 2010 Metal night” and Kings of metal. The demand to see their band live is increasing every show and has given them the thought of possibly going on a Midwest tour this summer. They are on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/officialadelaide) and are currently working on their official website which is under construction and will be viewable soon.  The art work for the pick came from the cover of their first album. Design your own custom guitar picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Pick of the Week — The Fab Four

This week’s pick of the week is for The Fab Four, a Beatles tribute band. Their design was created on our white delrin picks, and we were impressed by the bold, bright colors in their design. The bright white material of our picks really makes the artwork pop!! Here is some information about the Fab Four show:

“The Fab Four is elevated far above every other Beatles tribute due to their precise attention to detail. With uncanny, note-for-note live renditions of Beatles’ songs, the Fab Four will make you think you are watching the real thing. Hosted by ‘Ed Sullivan,’ this incredible multimedia stage production includes three costume changes representing every era of the Beatles ever-changing career. This loving tribute to the Beatles has amazed audiences all over the world, including Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, The Untied Kingdom, Germany, Mexico and Canada. If you want to see the BEST Beatles show in the world, you won’t want to miss The Fab Four.”

Switch in Time

SwitchinTime is a fantastic organization that makes software for kids with moderate/severe disabilities. They are best known for their software, Switch Ensemble, that allows individuals with disabilities to play music. Steve Clayton, Inc., had the opportunity to make some guitar picks recently for this company. We thought that the design for the picks was really cool, and looked great on our white delrin material, so we decided to contact the creator (Jon Adams) to see if we could post a blog with the design in it. This is how we discovered that he is involved in this wonderful venture! We urge you to check out the site for Switch In Time at www.switchintime.com.  You can also check out the link for a special needs band that Jon teaches at http://www.switchintime.com/headbangers/. We think it is awesome that Jon is using music to make a difference in the world, and we are honored to make his custom guitar picks!! If you have an organization like Switch In Time that would benefit from custom guitar picks, you can create your design today on our site at www.claytoncustom.com.

Black and White

Sometimes, the simplistic designs are the ones that look the best when it comes to custom guitar picks. Shown in the image below are some great examples of simple but awesome designs that were submitted by our customers. These were all created on our white delrin picks. White delrin material is a really nice, bright white that looks great with colors, or with black-only designs like these. White delrin picks are available in standard guitar pick shape, and in three gauges including .80mm, 1.0mm and 1.26mm. To create a cool black and white design like the ones in the image, visit www.claytoncustom.com today!

Pick of the Week — Day Old Funk

For this week’s Pick of the Week we have a custom design created by the band Day Old Funk, for our white delrin picks. We like how crisp the black design looks against the bright white background of our picks. We thought that the band had a cool idea in not only including their logo, but also an image of the silhouettes of the band members. A little about the band:

Redefining the Fall River scene, “Day Old Funk” started in a basement
with its two original and current members, Aaron Correira and Jesse
Copley. In 2002, shortly after graduating from high school, what was
once just a musical hobby for the duo became a small time career. Their
music is heavily influenced by bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles,
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam. They were set to start making
music, but one thing was missing, another band mate. So in 2005, Todd
Langlois joined the mix. With Jesse on rhythm guitar and lead vocals,
Aaron on bass, light percussion and vocals, Todd on lead guitar,
percussion, and back-up vocals. The band could now focus on their
song-writing and playing. For three years they bounced around from
basement to basement working on their strong harmony based originals. In
2010, the boys picked up “the beat machine” Steve Lennon, who has
brought the beats to every show.

Pick of the Week – Stephanie & THREE

We have a really cool picks and a really cool band this week! This lovely pick is by the band Stephanie & THREE, which is local to Clayton, Inc. here in Southern Oregon. I love the shades of pink on the pick, and the design is just way to cool! Stephanie & THREE is an aggressive Rock ‘n’ Power-Pop Trio, that plays in clubs and venues throughout the Northwest.  We always love seeing local bands being successful. I posted a video below so that you can really see how awesome this band is!  Make sure to check out their website to find out where you can catch their next performance. www.threemusic.net

Pick of the Week – Patrick Vega

We have another endorsed artist this week! This time it is for Patrick Vega! Patrick’s pick featured this week is printed on our Acetal material with a lovely colorful design.  Patrick has ordered tons of different designs in the past from us, so he is quite the guitar pick designer. Our custom imprint department talks to Patrick quite often and they all really love him.  Patrick showed the love back by doing a video all about Clayton picks! Which is totally awesome! Check it out below.

A little background on Patraick is that he is a player that is capable of great technique. In general though, he follows the unexpected, adventurous route rather than the (expected) technical/theory route. Alternate tunings, tasty leads and heavy but ambitious rhythm guitar parts that are accessible yet eclectic.

Patricks’s playing and songwriting displays a blend of vintage grace & modern rock/metal attitude. The music is influenced by acts such as Nine Inch Nails, Alice In Chains, Joe Satriani, The Cure, Rage Against The Machine, KoRn, Puddle Of Mudd, Seether, Tool, Classic Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, PJ Harvey, Tricky, Ozzy Osbourne, Vega’s former guitar teacher Brett Garsed and various movie soundtracks.

All I can say is Way Cool! Check out his website at: http://www.patrickvega.com

Pick of the Week – Young & Desperate

This week we have a Rounded Triangle Yellow Delrin pick for the band Young & Desperate.  They are a female fronted Dutch band. They recently won a big national Dutch band contest Make More Music. This band is known for their amazing live performances. Their first national single is recorded with Michel van Schie (Anouk, Van Velzen, Evers Slaat Door, and many, many more). Their MySpace (http://myspace.com/youngdesperate) provide a great way to keep in touch with the band. Also make sure to check out their website for additional information on the band. www.young-desperate.nl. They have a really neat video, check it out below!

Using our Graphics for Your Custom Picks!

Thinking of creating a custom designed guitar pick? We wanted to let you know that we have a lot of graphics available in our design interface that you can use to help create your design! Some of our customers have specific logos that they want to upload into the design template, but others just want something really cool to put on their picks! Shown in this image are some examples of how customers used our graphics to create their designs. Included here are an orange delrin pick, a white pearl pick, and a white delrin pick. You can easily access our full library of graphics on our website. Start by going to www.claytoncustom.com, and clicking on the “Start Now” button. Once you choose your pick options, you will come to a window with a blank guitar pick. If you click on the “Add Image” button, you will have the option then to use your own graphic, or one of ours! We have many categories available for the graphics, including wedding, religion, shapes, nature, animals, and, of course, music! Explore the design possibilities on our website today!!

Fantastic Full Bleeds!

We wanted to show off a few of the really cool designs that customers have created recently for custom guitar picks. These are customers who did not hold back when designing their picks; they have a lot of color and detail and they all came out great on our picks! These customers all chose the “full bleed” option for their guitar picks. This means that, instead of having a small border around the artwork, the design will bleed right to the edge of the pick. It is a little bit more expensive to choose this option for custom picks, but it is well worth it to have designs that are as awesome as these. Most of our pick materials include the overbleed option. The pick materials shown here are white delrin (the middle pick) and acetal (the two outside picks). These materials are great for full bleed because they also allow for full color designs, so you can let your imagination run wild. Design your custom guitar pick on our custom design site today, and try out the Full Bleed option!

Wedding Bells Ring on 10-10-10

We had to write a blog about this, because we have noticed that, lately, we have received numerous custom guitar pick orders for weddings that are on October 10, 2010. We have already discovered that custom guitar picks can be a very popular idea for use in weddings, and now we have even more wedding pick orders for this special date that is approaching! If you are planning a 10/10/10 wedding, or a wedding on any date in the near future, you should consider adding custom guitar picks to your planning. They can be used in save-the-dates, invitations, as favors for guests, as part of the decorations….you name it! Shown here are a couple of examples of some of the designs that we have gotten lately. We especially like the design for the ultem pick (on the right), because ultem is not a commonly chosen material for weddings, but this design looks awesome! The tan color of the ultem picks are great for weddings in autumn. They can support designs with red, brown, or black colors, so if these colors are in your wedding scheme, give ultems a try! Design your custom wedding guitar picks today at www.claytoncustom.com.

Picture Yourself!

Did you know that Clayton can customize guitar picks using full color photos? We can!! Shown here are some examples of custom guitar pick designs submitted by our customers who chose to use photos of themselves to customize their picks. We can do full color or greyscale photos on any of our white material picks. In this photo, all three white pick materials that we offer for customization are represented; white pearl, white delrin, and acetal (left to right). The photo on the far left was a perfect match for our white pearl picks, because it has water in the background and the marbleized material added the perfect effect. The photo in the middle was converted to greyscale for a classic look, and the photo on the right looks fantastic on our acetal material. Custom guitar picks with personal photos on them can be a great promotional item for solo artists or bands. Photos can also be perfect for wedding guitar picks! Upload your photo into our custom design interface today at www.claytoncustom.com.

Brown is the new Black!

Looking to add some variety and warmth to your custom guitar picks? Try switching your design color to brown! Lately we have noticed some very nice brown designs being submitted by our customers, and we wanted to show them off. If you are creating a custom design for our colored picks, you are limited to using black only, but if you are working with any of our white picks, or our ultems, you are open to a whole new set of color choices! Shown in the image here are a white delrin pick, an acetal pick, an ultem pick, and another acetal (left to right). The design on the white delrin is a full color, full bleed design, which means that the design runs all the way to the edge of the pick. The acetal picks represent both a full color and single color design. The ultem is a great example of how a brown design can look great against the tan color, since ultems may have black, red, and/or brown printed on them. So, if you are thinking that black is out and brown is in, try your custom design today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Pick of the Week – G. Kishore Carey

This week we have a beautiful Nature Guitar Pick on our Acetal material by the artist G. Kishore Carey.  He is a worship artist, and has a recent album out titled “Contagious.” If you visit his website you can learn more about him and even purchase his music from itunes.   Below is his bio”

“Kishore is able to engage and encourage congregations of all sizes to give their hearts and spirt to God in worship. From juvenile detention centers to Walter Reed Army Medical Center and in many church sanctuaries in the Greater Washington D.C. area and beyond, Kishore has been blessed to minister in all types of venues. Starting in high school and working continually at craft and art, Kishore is writing songs with an honesty and raw-ness that betrays his Christian cultural upbringing and exposes a heart that seeks to honor God in word and deed.”
It is great to hear how someone uses music to inspire and help others!

Clayton Color

Are you looking to design a custom guitar pick, and you have a very specific color in mind? We want you to know that if you are designing a Clayton custom pick, and your choice of pick material is white, you are able to choose single color printing and have any color you want on your custom guitar picks! Shown here are the three types of white guitar picks that we offer, which include white delrin, acetal, and white pearl. Most customers who are choosing a single color design will pick black, but these are examples of customers who wanted another color for the print, and the pricing is the same! To have this option, all you have to do is choose “one color” for the print color options in our custom design page, and then click on the color box to choose which color you want for the print. If you use text in your custom pick design, the text will automatically be the color that you choose. If you have a graphic, the Clayton team will convert it to the color that you want! This can be an especially great option for wedding picks. Sometimes, the colors of picks that we offer do not match exact wedding colors. So, instead, you can choose a white pick and have your design printed in a color that matches the wedding scheme perfectly! Design your custom pick today at www.claytoncustom.com

Support Your Nation with Custom Picks!

Check out these great pick designs from Clayton customers who want to use custom picks to support their nationality! Clayton is proud to say that we send our guitar accessories to customers all over the world, and these designs prove it! We think that using a symbol of a country, such as a flag or a tagline, is a great way to add that personal touch to custom guitar picks. There are a coupledifferent pick types shown in the image here. The two picks with flag designs on them (Spain and the United Kingdom) are both white delrin picks, which are great for showing off the bright colors of the flags. The middle pick, which says “Rock in France” is a white pearl pick, which is appropriate for the more subdued colors of this design. Both of the customers who created the flag designs used the full bleed option in the pick designer, so that the artwork was able to spread all the way to the edge of the pick. Thank you to those who submitted these designs, we had fun producing them! If you are interested in designing a custom pick that shows your national pride, visit www.clatyoncustom.com today!

Silhouette Picks

Sometimes, less is more, and this can definitely be true when designing Clayton custom picks. We wanted to show off these designs, because the simplicity of the artwork actually draws more attention to them. The customers who designed these picks all chose to use a silhouette design, which will look great on any pick material that Clayton offers for custom design. This is a great way to have a single color print (which is less expensive than full color) and still have a cool graphic to make the picks personal. Some customers will choose to put photos on their picks, while others will use a silhouette version of a person, such as the faces shown on the picks here. The glasses and beard on one pick, and the hair on the other pick, are distinctive enough to convey a specific personality without using a full color photo. Other graphics work great for silhouettes too, such as the pumpkin or the guitar and shark shown here. With this kind of design, the customer is able to choose his/her favorite pick material and not worry if it will work with the design or not. Shown here are ultem, and white, pink and green delrin picks. If you would like to try your own custom silhouette design, visit  our Clayton Custom site today!

Innovative Pick!

Sometimes at Clayton, Inc., we get a custom pick design that comes out so well, we just want to show it off! Here is an example of one of these designs. This design is for a company called Innovative Knowledge, and we love the color scheme of the artwork. On the front of the pick is the company name with the logo that they use, and on the back is a two-word description of the company (educational software), and the slogan that ties the company with these guitar picks: “It Rocks.” This is a perfect example of how a non-music related business can still effectively use guitar picks as a promotional item. They also did a great job at including the information about the company that they wanted without filling up the guitar pick with too much tiny text. This design was placed on our white delrin picks, which was a perfect choice. The bright white of the white delrin material is best for making bright colors, such as those in this design, really pop out. Delrin is also recommended over acetal picks if the design is two sided, because the white delrins do not have any transparency. White delrin picks are available in three gauges: .8, 1, and 1.26mm. They are only available in standard shape, but they can have single or full color printing. Show off your awesome design skills by working with our custom design interface at www.claytoncustom.com.

Monster Picks

We wanted to show off some new designs that have recently been submitted for custom pick orders by Clayton customers. These are some highly detailed, very colorful designs that all came out really well on our picks. We liked that, even though these picks were ordered by different people, they all used artistic monster designs with similar colors of blue, grey and red that combine together for a great color trio. Despite the fact that these picks have similar designs, they were all created for different types of guitar pick materials. It is a good way for us to show off the materials that we offer that can support full color designs. The pick on the far left is a white pearl, which is a marbleized, glossy finish pick. The marbleized quality helps to bring out the different shads of blue in the design. The middle pick is acetal, which is a semi-transparent white pick. The acetal pick is great for full bleed designs like this one with a lot of detail. We also recommend acetal picks for photos. The pick on the right is a white delrin pick. The bright white of the white delrin will make the colors of the design pop out, and delrins are perfect for two-sided designs. Try out your custom pick design today on our website: Clayton Custom.

Beauty Picks

Clayton custom guitar picks can be used as promotional items for many types of businesses. We have seen custom designs created for coffee shops, electronics stores, and tattoo parlors. Today, we wanted to feature these designs created for beauty salons! These are some cute, very feminine designs that are great for use on promotional custom guitar picks. Many beauty salons are looking for a way to give themselves differentiation in a competitive industry, and often the best way to do so is to give the business an “edge.” After all, people want to go to salons that are up-to-date with current trends. Custom picks are a great item to use in place of business cards for salons that want to stay trendy. The picks shown here are both two-sided designs, so they allow for text and graphics. Both designs were created for our white delrin picks, which make the red colors really pop out well. Here at Clayton, we love to see all the different ways in which customers us our picks, and we think that this is a great idea! If you have a salon or beauty supply business, or another type of business that you think would benefit from custom guitar picks as a promotional item, visit our website to create your custom design today! Groomsman Picks

It is very popular for customers of Steve Clayton, Inc. to order custom guitar picks for a wedding. We have seen them used for many purposes, such as scattering on tables, favors for guests, part of wedding invitations, etc. One idea that we really like is to use custom picks for groomsmen gifts. During the preparation for the wedding, it is common for a groom to want to give a gift to his groomsmen as a thank you for their participation in the wedding. If the groom and his pals are into music, custom picks are the perfect way to give a thank-you that is both creative and practical! Custom picks allow for the names or initials of the groomsmen to go on the picks, along with the date of the wedding, and maybe a graphic that adds to the design. It is even possible to add custom picks onto the boutonnières of the groomsmen for weddings that have a music theming. Shown here are two examples of groomsmen pick designs, created for green delrin and white delrin picks. If the groom and his guys have been in a band together, the band name can also go on the pick (see the white delrin design).  This can add a special significance to these gifts that show appreciation for the friends that help pull the wedding together. If you have a wedding coming up and are looking for something special to add, design your wedding picks today at www.claytoncustom.com.

Summer Designs For Summertime

These picks show what summer is about. Weddings, butterflies, and enjoying nature are all popular during the summer season. These were all done on our white delrin custom guitar picks. The black and white wedding couple design is an image you can find on our claytoncustom.com website. Our white delrin custom guitar picks start at just $39 dollars for 100 picks. What impresses me about our white delrins is they provide such a comfortable grip and they have a very clean white look. Let’s not forget that they are as light as a feather. Show what you love about summer on your picks! You can create custom picks by clicking here!

Patriotic Picks!

As we all know, The 4th of  July is just around the corner, and we wanted to display some patriotic Clayton custom picks for the occasion! Shown here is a design that was just produced today, and it is a great example of how we can show pride for our country, even on our guitar picks! These are standard shape white delrin picks, and we have mentioned before that our white delrins are a great material for making colors pop. So the white delrin picks are prefect to create the red, white and blue trio that will be all over the place this weekend! We also liked this design because it is two-sided, and the customer did a great job of tying the two sides together with the artwork. Delrin picks are also the most recommended for two-sided designs. These types of picks would be great to give out at an Independence Day party, or to throw out to the crowd at a concert on the 4th! If you have a party or special event coming up, you can use any theme on a custom guitar pick to add something unique and interesting that guests will love for the originality! Design your pick today on our custom design website.

Autographs and Signatures For Custom Guitar Picks

For fans of all kinds signatures are always something to collect. Some artists will actually sign their guitar picks at shows while many others will have them made on their custom guitar picks. A lot of signatures have been placed on our white delrins as you can see in this photo the white delrin brings out the signatures the best.  The great thing about our designer is you can easily adjust the size of your own signature to the picks. Just scan your signature, save it on your computer and then place it on your favorite custom guitar pick. I’d also suggest using a marker to make the signature standout. Make your custom guitar picks today!

Check these out!

These are some really nice designs that we have received from our customers lately that utilize the colors black, white, and red. We find that this trio can make for some really nice art since the colors compliment each other so well. Shown here are three acetal picks and a white delrin. The  white delrin pick sports a school mascot, so the colors of the school are already black and red and they pop really well against the bright white of the picks. It just goes to show that custom picks can be used for anything, even to show school spirit!! We wanted to draw some extra attention to the pick with a checkerboard pattern on it. This is a great use of our overbleed option for custom design, and we love how they turned out. It is a double sided printing, with just a subtle design change between the front and the back that adds some interest to the art. Thanks Clayton customers, for giving us such great designs to work with! Try out your black, red and white design on our custom site today!

White Delrins And Their Colorful Designs

Now is the time to let your color shine with our white delrin guitar picks.  The white delrin picks provide

that extra charge for your color.  In this photo you’ll find the pink, orange, and green colors are really getting all of the attention in these designs.  We have mentioned the white pearls also bring out bright colors well, but the white delrins can be another great option.  If your wondering if artist enjoy to play with these, just ask our endorsed artist Eric Church.  He uses our white delrins and has used them ever since he started playing the guitar.  So bring your colorful ideas to our designer and start making your custom picks today!
