Kyle Gass and John Konesky of Tenacious D at the Clayton NAMM Booth 2011

This year we were so happy to have the amazing Kyle Gass of Tenacious D come sign at our booth for a 2nd year in a row! Tenacious D has a very loyal fan base, and the lines were wrapping very long all over the place to get to meet Kyle and John this year! Very amazing! This year he brought along the VERY talented John Konesky also of Tenacious D. Kyle and John are both Clayton Endorsed. They were there to promote their youtube channel called Guitarings, which shows you how to play many of the popular Tenacious D songs. Below is a clip of them showing how to play the Tenacious D song “Tribute”: Below are some pictures of them signing for all of their fans at our NAMM booth!

We are back from a very busy NAMM show, and we wanted to share some photos from our booth this year! We had several artist signings including, Playmate Kassie Lyn, Twilight Saga Star Booboo Stewart and his sister Fivel, Kyle Gass and John Konesky of Tenacious D.  We will post more detailed information on all of our NAMM happenings soon!

John Konesky in the spotlight with Clayton

We are excited to announce the new signed artist John Konesky!   Konesky is the guitarist for Tenacious D and also the band Trainwreck. Trainwreck was so impressed with Konesky’s guitar skills and his character that they wrote a song about his talent.  Tenacious D also referred to him as the antichrist because of his shredding abilities on the guitar.

Konesky has also co-wrote a song on Guitar Hero III called “The Metal.” He also appears on  Tenacious D’s 2008 concert video and their documentary titled, “The Complete Master Works 2.”  He has performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Saturday Night Live, and the American Music Awards 2006.  John currently uses our Acetal .80mm.

We are all looking forward to hearing more of John’s performances rocking through the 2010 year!  Be sure to check back for information regarding our endorsed artists and more on John Konesky.

Kyle Gass – New Featured Artist

We are proud to announce Kyle Gass (KG) of Tenacious D/Trainwreck as our new featured artist on our website at http://www.steveclayton.com/featuredartist.php! We have worked with KG for a very long time, supplying both himself and Jack Black with their custom picks on our Acetal Rounded Triangle .63mm. Kyle even signed autographs at our booth at the last NAMM trade show.  In addition to Tenacious D, Kyle has formed the band Trainwreck. KG describes Trainwreck as “a cornucopia of rock and a 5-headed hydra of pleasure”. Trainwreck is a eclectic mix of Southern Rock, Prog-Rock, Boogie, and straight-up Classic Rock and Roll, along with comedy banter and lyrics derived from the characters they’ve developed within the band. In late 2009 they released their debut album, “The Wreckoning”. It album contains 15 tracks of what they call “Wreck and Roll.” The band is fronted by biker-hayseed Darryl Donald (”Lee” of Tenacious D, or JR), and Kyle Gass (aka Klip Calhoun), and containing most of Tenacious D’s live/studio band (John Shredman, Boy Johnny, and Dallas St. Bernard). Trainwreck is currently on tour, so if you are in any of the following areas, make sure to go check out this unique band!

How long was that line???

I have been asked so many times how long our line was at NAMM to meet Kyle Gass.  We do know that it spanned a couple of isles and was extremly long. We were lucky enough to recently obtain some video footage that shows at least half of the length of the line. The other half of the line goes to the right, and was broken up in order to allow traffic to flow by. Click on the picture below to view the Quicktime movie.

Kyle did not disappoint, and signed for 3 straight hours without stopping!   Kyle has been a long time user of Clayton Acetal Rounded Triangle .63mm picks.  Clayton has been doing custom imprinting for Kyle Gass and Jack Black for over 10 img_3522years now! Kyle came by to promote his band Trainwreck and theirimg_3501 new album Theimg_3509 Wreckoning.  He signed Trainwreck posters and gave out limited edition Tenacious D: In the Pick of Destiny picks with his printed signature on the back. Not to mention he was also asked to sign lots of Tenacious D memorabilia.  Kyle Gass caused such a commotion at NAMM it required 8 security guards to keep the crowd under control! Keep checking back for a blog about Kyle Gass’ band Trainwreck and a video about why Kyle just won’t rest!
