Pick of the Week – Young & Desperate

This week we have a Rounded Triangle Yellow Delrin pick for the band Young & Desperate.  They are a female fronted Dutch band. They recently won a big national Dutch band contest Make More Music. This band is known for their amazing live performances. Their first national single is recorded with Michel van Schie (Anouk, Van Velzen, Evers Slaat Door, and many, many more). Their MySpace (http://myspace.com/youngdesperate) provide a great way to keep in touch with the band. Also make sure to check out their website for additional information on the band. www.young-desperate.nl. They have a really neat video, check it out below!

Themed Picks

Sometimes, one type of custom pick just isn’t enough. Steve Clayton, Inc. customers often choose to order several different varieties of custom picks with the same, or similar, designs. ¬†Shown in this image are examples of guitar picks that have been ordered in sets so that there was not a limitation of one pick type. The first set of picks in the image has three different animation designs, printed in different colors on white pearl, ultem and orange delrin picks. They customer even tried different shapes…using standard and small teardrop. The second set is a great example for advertising because they used the same face with different hairstyles on different colors of our colored delrin picks. The third set was done on our red delrin and ultem picks which look really nice together because of the color continuity. For the fourth set of picks, the customer submitted a cute autumn leaf design and had it done on our green and orange delrin picks, which are perfect for the fall season! Themed picks can also be a great option for a band, because then each band member can choose the pick material, gauge, and shape that he or she wants and ¬†have the same logo on all of the picks. Or, you can get the same pick with the band logo, and have different band member names on each set. So, don’t limit yourself to just one type of custom guitar pick…order several! We can always give you a combined shipping for your orders as well ūüėČ Happy desigining! www.claytoncustom.com

Silhouette Picks

Sometimes, less is more, and this can definitely be true when designing Clayton custom picks. We wanted to show off these designs, because the simplicity of the artwork actually draws more attention to them. The customers who designed these picks all chose to use a silhouette design, which will look great on any pick material that Clayton offers for custom design. This is a great way to have a single color print (which is less expensive than full color) and still have a cool graphic to make the picks personal. Some customers will choose to put photos on their picks, while others will use a silhouette version of a person, such as the faces shown on the picks here. The glasses and beard on one pick, and the hair on the other pick, are distinctive enough to convey a specific personality without using a full color photo. Other graphics work great for silhouettes too, such as the pumpkin or the guitar and shark shown here. With this kind of design, the customer is able to choose his/her favorite pick material and not worry if it will work with the design or not. Shown here are ultem, and white, pink and green delrin picks. If you would like to try your own custom silhouette design, visit  our Clayton Custom site today!

Groomsman Picks

It is very popular for customers of Steve Clayton, Inc. to order custom guitar picks for a wedding. We have seen them used for many purposes, such as scattering on tables, favors for guests, part of wedding invitations, etc. One idea that we really like is to use custom picks for groomsmen gifts. During the preparation for the wedding, it is common for a groom to want to give a gift to his groomsmen as a thank you for their participation in the wedding. If the groom and his pals are into music, custom picks are the perfect way to give a thank-you that is both creative and practical! Custom picks allow for the names or initials of the groomsmen to go on the picks, along with the date of the wedding, and maybe a graphic that adds to the design. It is even possible to add custom picks onto the boutonnières of the groomsmen for weddings that have a music theming. Shown here are two examples of groomsmen pick designs, created for green delrin and white delrin picks. If the groom and his guys have been in a band together, the band name can also go on the pick (see the white delrin design).  This can add a special significance to these gifts that show appreciation for the friends that help pull the wedding together. If you have a wedding coming up and are looking for something special to add, design your wedding picks today at www.claytoncustom.com.

Happy Birthday Steve!

Yesterday, June 16, was a special day here at Steve Clayton, Inc. Steve celebrated his 60th birthday!! And what better way to celebrate than with custom picks? The staff here surprised Steve with a decadent chocolate cake, decorated with candles and some custom birthday guitar picks made especially for the occasion! The picks were our green delrin material, imprinted fondly with the text “Happy Birthday Steve!! 2010.” ¬†The picks made a great decoration, as they were very easy to stick in the frosting on the edge of the cake to add some flare. This is a great example of how custom picks can be used for anything, even birthday parties! So here’s to you, Steve, for being the founder of this amazing company, and we wish you all the best for this year. Happy Birthday! To design your own custom birthday picks: Clayton Custom

Text Only: The less-than-100 option

Sometimes, visitors to our custom website are curious to know if there is anyway to get custom picks made in a set of less than 100 picks, because 100 is the minimum quantity for most of our custom orders. But the answer is yes! We offer text-only picks as an option for those customers who are not ready to order 100 picks yet. Text-only picks are made on our colored delrin material. The only stipulations are that they come in standard shape only, and cannot have any graphics in the design. They are available in each of the colors of delrin that we normally offer: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. This is also a great option for party picks, especially if you want a variety of colors. You may order a set of 30 for $24.99 or a set of 60 for $32.99. Visit our custom website today to design your own text-only picks!

Rounded Triangles. More Design Space And a Unique Look

We don’t just have standard shape picks for your designs. Checkout these rounded triangle picks these customers came up with. The rounded triangle picks are very popular as you can tell from our featured artist stories. Many bass players and guitar players will pick the rounded triangle shape to give them a little more surface to hold while playing. These picks also provide more space for your design than our standard shape picks. With these larger picks you are also able to enlarge your design or sort of like, zoom in on the design and make it easier to see. The picks in the picture here are with the materials ultem, green delrin, acetal, white pearl, and an orange delrin. These picks customers designed had lots of info such as business name, phone number, and websites to promote themselves. In the claytoncustom.com site once you pick the material you’ll then see what pick shapes come in that material. If you have questions feel free to email us at questions@steveclayton.com or contact our custom design team at 877.752.9484.

St. Patty’s Picks

Well, March is just around the corner and we have already started noticing the designs that are indicating the coming of St. Patrick’s Day. We already love the combination of green and black, so why not create some custom shamrock guitar picks to help celebrate the occasion? We offer green delrin picks in .8 mm gauge, which are already a popular choice for custom picks year-round. We also offer green colored pearl picks, in varying shades depending on your taste. Only black designs can be printed on these picks, so if you are looking to create a green design, we recommend white delrin or acetal picks. So visit our website at www.claytoncustom.com and try your luck at designing a St. Patty’s Day Pick!

Skulls!

I don’t know what’s going on this week, but we’ve had an unusal amount of orders for skulls this past week. Here are a few that are my favorite. I really like the Otis pick, the skull rocks that hat! skullI also really like the overbleed skull on the Acetal Rounded Triangle. As you can see it has a two sided imprint on it. The thinner the Acetal is the more transparent it becomes so if you are going to have it imprinted with two sides we would suggest atleast getting .63mm or thicker. The rest were printed on the Delrin material. We have stock picks available that feature different skull designs. These are the Demonic Skulls of course, they come with 6 different designs. They are printed on Delrin, and available in thin, medium and heavy. You can now order them direct for our website by clicking here.

Custom Picks – Green

Hmm wasn’t St. Pattys day last month? Well it must be spring fever then because we’ve had several Green orders this month!green_pick1 Most of the picks featured are on Green Delrin which is made out of a very durable material and is one of the most popular and widely used materials available. We offer Delrin is 5 other colors such as red, orange, yellow, blue, and purple. They are colored according to gauge. The Green Delrin is made on the .88mm gauge which is a slighly heavier medium gauge. The one in the middle is on our Color Pearl which is made out of celluloid. This one was for a wedding, and was colored to match the wedding colors. The really exciting feature about the Color Pearl is that we can color it to match just about any color you choose! And you can choose the gauge as well, so basically it is compeletely customized to suite your needs. Also, believe it or not our White Delrin is in that circle featuring a full green over bleed. If you can’t pick them out it is the Joe Bachman Crew pick and the one with faint white lines next to the Colfax pick. It’s a good example of what we use the “full bleed” feature for. We normally don’t suggest covering the whole pick with a solid background, however, these 2 are great examples of what can be done. A background that has other colors in it with a logo usually turns out great with a full bleed. We would suggest using either the Acetal Polymer or White Delrin picks for full bleeds.
