The Beauty of Pearls

Here at Clayton, we offer three different white picks for custom design, including white delrin, acetal, and white pearl. If you are looking for a classy pick that is great for playing, or for use as a promotional tool, white pearl is optimal. Our white pearl picks have glossy finish, and they are marbleized, so they automatically have the “upscale look.” White pearls can be great with either single or full color designs, as shown in the image below. White pearl picks are also very popular for weddings, since they look nice and can support a design with any color in it. Our white pearl picks are available in six gauges ranging from a very thin .38 to an extra heavy 1.26. There are also two different shapes available for white pearl picks; standard (left pick in photo) and rounded triangle  (right pick in photo). Design your white pearl pick on our custom website today!

Pick of the Week – Hot Neon Magic

This is a bright one! Neon Yellow and Pink are the colors on this guitar pick! Wow is it bright! Check out their website at: http://www.hotneonmagic.com/

I love the way the band dresses, and I even love their band bio “Relive the skinny ties, spandex and synthesizers with Vermont’s premier 1980s cover band. Rock out to hours of totally awesome tunes from when MTV was king” It is so great to see such a neat 80′s cover band.  We also love how their guitar pick really gets the message across about who their band is! Religious Picks

Here at Clayton, we like to notice when we see designs that are linked together through a similar idea, so that we know what uses customers may have for custom picks besides for playing guitar. The picks shown here are some designs that we’ve produced recently that all have a commonality; they are all religious picks. We think that custom guitar picks are a great idea for churches to use as a giveaway item. Designs like these are also great for Christian rock bands to throw to their fans at concerts. Right now, Christian picks are the most popular that we have noticed for religious-themed picks, but we are hoping that we will get more designs from customers that represent other religions as well. We have seen a great variety in the Christian custom designs that will include crosses, Bible verses, and other religious graphics. The picks shown here are a variety of materials that we offer for custom design, including colored delrin in yellow (.73 gauge), acetal, and white pearl. So if you are looking for a special guitar pick that has significant meaning to you, design your custom pick today at www.claytoncustom.com.

Black and Yellow

During the past month, we have noticed that several designs have been submitted for printing on our black celluloid picks that are in yellow. The most common imprint color for our black picks is white, and red is fairly common as well. After seeing these yellow designs though, we have realized that the yellow on black makes for a great color combo that is sure to stand out! Our black celluloids are a specialty material that we provide as an option for custom imprinting. They are available in standard shape, and three different gauges; thin medium, and heavy. They can have printing on one or both sides of the pick. Black celluloids work the best with large text, and clear, distinct graphics. We have chosen to display the picks to the right as examples of designs that have the right qualities to really come out well. If you like the black and yellow color duo, try out your own design on our custom site: Clayton Custom Design Site!

Pick of the Week – John Karl

This week we selected a guitar pick by country artist John Karl.  He designed this amazing pick on our white delrin material. We love the detailed design and beautiful shades of blue.  Below is a bio about this talented artist:
“John was a success before even moving to Nashville. Nominated for North East CMA Entertainer of the Year and Best Male Vocalist, John has had a No. 1 on the MP3.com country chart with “There Goes the Neighborhood” and “Small Town” was featured in the movie American Reunion. “If you want to know where country is headed, just give a listen to John Karl,” says Rodney Phelps, a top Nashville attorney who also worked with Garth Brooks and Chris Cagle

John won the local Colgate Country Showdown in Upstate NY and had a song on Christian Country Radio with “Just Love Her” in 2003. He has toured the USA and opened for acts Ricochet, Daryl Worley and Craig Morgan just to name a few. He has played lots of festivals, including Nashville’s CMA Festival and was the house artist in 2008 at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.

John Karl is the next big thing, with the right attitude, music, and performance style. He can get wild and pull out a tear-jerker right behind it. He knows what the fans want and he gives it to them.
Growing up in Niskayuna, N.Y., John has loved music all of his life and began singing at a young age. After high school he studied Graphic Design, was part of a professional water-ski team called the Coors Light U.S. Water-ski Show Team where he produced and performed the show and was a local Club DJ. While singing at a ski team function, a local funder made him an offer he could not refuse and helped him go to Nashville.

John moved to Nashville on Labor Day of 2002. He spent the next two years learning everything he could about the Nashville music business. He networked and got into writing circles and formed the duo Kalamity Jane. Soon after John went solo and began work on his self-produced album Redneck Rich Hillbilly Happy, released 2007.

As singer/songwriter John has a knack for a well turned phrase and is looking forward to his new CD “Are You Ready For This”. Due out in late August 2010.”

Patriotic Picks!

As we all know, The 4th of  July is just around the corner, and we wanted to display some patriotic Clayton custom picks for the occasion! Shown here is a design that was just produced today, and it is a great example of how we can show pride for our country, even on our guitar picks! These are standard shape white delrin picks, and we have mentioned before that our white delrins are a great material for making colors pop. So the white delrin picks are prefect to create the red, white and blue trio that will be all over the place this weekend! We also liked this design because it is two-sided, and the customer did a great job of tying the two sides together with the artwork. Delrin picks are also the most recommended for two-sided designs. These types of picks would be great to give out at an Independence Day party, or to throw out to the crowd at a concert on the 4th! If you have a party or special event coming up, you can use any theme on a custom guitar pick to add something unique and interesting that guests will love for the originality! Design your pick today on our custom design website.

Get the Classic Look

At Steve Clayton, we offer a variety of picks for custom design. One of the materials that can be used for custom creations is called ultem. Ultem picks are a favorite of our customers because of the high tone quality that they provide, and the grainy non-slip feel of the material itself. Ultem picks are available in three different shapes; standard, rounded triangle, and teardrop. You may also choose from 8 different gauges, ranging from a very flexible .38mm to an extra-heavy 1.2mm. Ultem picks can work with designs of single or multiple colors. However, when you design your custom ultem pick on our design site, keep in mind that black, brown, and red are the print color options available. Don’t be shy to use all three colors in your design, because, as you can see by the image shown here, they all look great against the tan background of the pick. So, if you are looking for a classic look for your personal picks, give ultem a try!

On a Wing and a Pick

Shown in this post are some designs that have come in recently that we really admire! It is always a popular option to put a guitar image on a custom guitar pick. They can be guitar photos, sketches of guitars, flaming guitars, etc. Now we have noticed a popularity with guitars that have wings! This is a great way to add a little bit of extra graphic appeal to a new pick design. Also, the generic shape that occurs from a guitar with wings added is a similar shape as a standard pick, so this type of design works especially well with the space that is provided in our custom pick design interface at www.claytoncustom.com. In case you are curious, all of the picks shown here are on acetal picks. Acetals were a great choice for these customers to support the design detail and lighter colors. So try out your own guitar with wings graphic, and let your pick design take flight!!

Sunny Picks

The sun is finally starting to shine, and we have the perfect summer picks at Steve Clayton! Shown here are our yellow and orange colored delrin guitar picks. The designs in this image are good examples of ones that work well on our colored delrins because they are simple and easy to see, even on the small pick size. Our colored delrins are among the less expensive picks that we offer for custom design. They are also a great material for customers who are interested in ordering less than 100 picks. If you have a design that only has text in it, you can get  a set of 30 custom colored delrin picks for just $24.99!! Keep in mind that the colored delrins have varying gauges to match the different colors. The yellow delrins shown here are .73 gauge, and the orange are .6. All of our gauges and colors are shown on our custom site at www.claytoncustom.com.We especially liked the design shown here for a group called The Flip Flops…what a perfect way to promote the band! So if you are preparing for  a summer rock concert, or just some acoustic outdoor playing, get yourself some bright picks for the season!!

Ultem Picks, #1 In Customer Ratings.

The ultem picks are my personal favorite guitar pick to play with.  These picks are great because they provide a good grip and are a strong durable material.  They also provide an appealing transparent look.  Just recently we had mentioned about how on our Musician’s Friend’s website the Steve Clayton ultem standard guitar picks are ranked first in customer ratings.  I personally prefer to play my acoustic guitar with the ultem picks as it provides consistent tone and volume.  Recently I have noticed some excellent art work on our ultem guitar picks as pictured.  If you are ordering your ultem custom picks make sure to let us know what color ink you would like.  It does not cost more to put our red, brown and black ink on the ultem pick.  If you haven’t tried our ultem picks out yet, you are definitely missing out.  Place your order today and have fun with our custom ultem guitar picks!   Just go to steveclayton.com and click on clayton custom.
