Check out these rockin’ custom picks! We really liked the Heartbreak Beat design that was printed on our pink delrin material picks. When we looked into it further, we found out that they were made for a clothing company! The best part is that Heartbreak Beat makes clothes specifically to appeal to musicians. The company was “founded by musicians, for musicians and anyone who just digs the ‘rock & roll lifestyle’, for lack of a better term.” Employees of the company also play in bands themselves. “In addition to their own line of tees, Heartbreak Beat does limited-edition tour shirts for the likes of Alkaline Trio, Cheap Trick, Cake, and others.” Check them out at http://www.heartbreakbeat.com. “Until the present day the very lively Rock music scene of Los Angeles during the 80s hasn’t lost any of its cult like fascination.
The Roxy, Whisky A Go-Go, Rainbow Bar And Grill on Sunset Strip and the Troubadour a little further south are the locations in West Hollywood in which the eventual mega sellers entered the stage and where they still hang around today every once in a while. This neighbourhood also seems to be made for a band like “Wheels Of Fire” and their band leader Davide “Dave Rox” Barbieri, who started his musical career as a keyboard player back in the early 90s in some local bands. About ten years ago Dave discovered his passion for singing and to improve his skills he turned to Michele Luppi, who besides being a member of various bands, formerly of the Power Metal band Vision Divine and currently of the Melodic Metal act Killing Touch and the AOR project Los Angeles, is also active as a vocal coach. Before Dave made his dream of an “Old School” Melodic Rock album come true with “Wheels Of Fire”, he recorded the album “De Revelationibus Orbium Caelestium” with the Metal band Seventh Archangel in 2007. One year later “…As In A Deep Dream” with the Progressive Metal band Liquid Shadows followed. Beside the work in the studio Dave did a lot of gigs and meanwhile he is also a teacher for Modern Singing himself.
The foundation for “Wheels Of Fire” was layed back in 2006 when Michele Luppi heard some of Dave’s demos and subsequently offered his help to record an album. Eventually Michele produced “Hollywood Rocks” together with Dave and Michele can also be heard playing grand piano and singing background vocals. The studio line-up is completed by guitar player Stefano Zeni, who was in a cover band together with Dave, Roberto Galli on bass, as well as Andrea Zingrillo on drums. Roberto Priori (Killing Touch, Michele Luppi’s Heaven) took over the mix and the Mastering, and did an amazing job in delivering a great sounding record.
The songs of “Wheels Of Fire” are a captivating combination of all the elements that Melodic Rock and AOR fans love about this kind of music and that made these songs staples on mainstream radio twenty years ago. Pushed forward by powerful drums the mid- and uptempo rockers, like “Hollywood Rocks”, “You’re So Cool”, “What I Want”, “Everywhere I Go”, “Live Again”, “The Reason”, “Relax” and “Rock The World” also shine with their melodic guitar riffs and a heathy dose of crystal clear keyboards. As expected the verses of the songs always lead to a super catchy chorus and are crowned with a guitar solo. Rock ballads have always been a big plus of the Melodic Rockers and so the band has paid very careful attention to the softer moments “I Can’t Live Without You” and “Little Prayer”. They serve a decent portion of guitar power and the arrangements also include a grand piano, while the concluding master piece in this category, the bombastic eight minute epic “Love Nest” even adds a string section, making it a full blown wide screen listening experience.
After some changes in the band’s line-up with the incoming of Marcello Suzzani on bass, Fabrizio Uccellini on drums and Andrea Vergori on Keyboards, now the guys are ready to spread their music all over the world.”

“Wishpool is a band based out of Syracuse, New York. The band has been around in one form or another for about 4 years, but it’s current configuration began in late 2007. It is this group which has recharged the Wishpool name with a new creative spirit and a passion for meaning within the music. Syracuse is a blue coller town which has struggled to retain that value and the band’s style reflects this. There is nothing fancy or frilly about the songs or the band’s sound. It is straightforward and to the point with driving rythyms and meaningful, impassioned vocals.”

This week we selected a guitar pick by country artist John Karl. He designed this amazing pick on our white delrin material. We love the detailed design and beautiful shades of blue. Below is a bio about this talented artist:
“John was a success before even moving to Nashville. Nominated for North East CMA Entertainer of the Year and Best Male Vocalist, John has had a No. 1 on the MP3.com country chart with “There Goes the Neighborhood” and “Small Town” was featured in the movie American Reunion. “If you want to know where country is headed, just give a listen to John Karl,” says Rodney Phelps, a top Nashville attorney who also worked with Garth Brooks and Chris Cagle
John won the local Colgate Country Showdown in Upstate NY and had a song on Christian Country Radio with “Just Love Her” in 2003. He has toured the USA and opened for acts Ricochet, Daryl Worley and Craig Morgan just to name a few. He has played lots of festivals, including Nashville’s CMA Festival and was the house artist in 2008 at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.
John Karl is the next big thing, with the right attitude, music, and performance style. He can get wild and pull out a tear-jerker right behind it. He knows what the fans want and he gives it to them.
Growing up in Niskayuna, N.Y., John has loved music all of his life and began singing at a young age. After high school he studied Graphic Design, was part of a professional water-ski team called the Coors Light U.S. Water-ski Show Team where he produced and performed the show and was a local Club DJ. While singing at a ski team function, a local funder made him an offer he could not refuse and helped him go to Nashville.
John moved to Nashville on Labor Day of 2002. He spent the next two years learning everything he could about the Nashville music business. He networked and got into writing circles and formed the duo Kalamity Jane. Soon after John went solo and began work on his self-produced album Redneck Rich Hillbilly Happy, released 2007.
As singer/songwriter John has a knack for a well turned phrase and is looking forward to his new CD “Are You Ready For This”. Due out in late August 2010.”

The wolf in the design here is a great example of what you can do for a hot stamp foil custom pick. These picks can take about 4-6 weeks to produce, but they are definitely worth the wait. We are excited to announce today about the new endorsed artists from the band “This Providence.” The band was formed in 2003 in Seattle, WA. They have three albums, Our Worlds Divorce, This Providence, and the newly acclaimed “Who Are You Now?” which just came out March 17th. The new album features the hit “Letdown” which is in the video below. Daniel Young commented on how important it was to take all last year to produce the new album “Who Are You Now” by saying “We took a long time off the road before going into the studio because we wanted to write songs that were dripping with creativity and you can’t rush that,” Young explains, “I think the end result is much stronger because of that.” The album has a lot of energy and we are looking forward to following them this year. The band members play with our acetal .63mm rounded triangle picks and our 1.0mm standard shape acetal picks. They are less than 5 days away from kicking off their headling Bout Damn Time Tour featuring TheAudition, Anarbor, The Bigger Lights, and Artist Vs. Poet. For more information regarding shows, band info, and artist news for This Providence you may go to their website www.thisprovidence.com

Eric Church is one of our endorsed artists and we just wanted to let you know he is one of country’s hardest working artists. We could say working a little bit too hard after last fall. While performing in New York, he was stomping so hard on stage that he hurt his ankle. He still finished the show and is ready to set the stage for his 2010 tour with our Clayton custom picks. Here are the picks you might get at one of his shows if you’re lucky. He’s already sold out for this Thursday’s show at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville. Church’s picks are the white pearl rounded triangle with the gauge at 1mm. The white delrin 1mm standard pick is another choice for Church. He has a top 10 hit with his song “Love Your Love the Most,”
one of his songs on his new Carolina album. Another big hit on the album is “Hell On the Heart.” Eric is a rising star that we are excited to follow this year. We look forward to supporting Eric Church during his 2010 tour.

Congratulations to Ian Severson becoming our new endorsed artist! Severson currently is the guitarist for the band Future Leaders of the World. In 2004 the band was formed in Buffalo, New York recording a demo in Los Angeles. They signed with Epic Records for their full release of LVL IV featuring the hit “Let Me Out.” Future Leaders of the World has their sound comparable to the Nirvana grunge.
Severson has also played as guitarist for the band Gingerjake. He was given the name as “shrediculous” while playing with Gingerjake in 2003. The band recorded with producer Cameron Webb who also produced Tenacious D. “Karats” was a big hit getting lots of airplay on the Mpls station 93x. Congrats again Ian for becoming our new endorsed artist! We look forward to supporting you with our Clayton guitar accessories and specialized custom picks.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on some of the amazing picks we are printing on our black raven material. We have been getting so many interesting designs, we can’t help but share these with everyone. All of the ones I selected today show all kinds of different shading, effects and detail. One of the hardest things to get to turn out on a pick are flesh tones. As you can see on the Krakshi pick we really got the realism of the hand. Plus all of the picks have incredible detail. If you are interested in purchasing some of our black raven picks you won’t regret it! They come in 3 gauges, .50mm, .80mm, and 1.00mm. Prices for these picks start at only $39 for 100 white imprint and $69 for 100 full color imprinting.
We apologize for not updating our blog sooner, we have been extremely busy around here this summer! We just got finished with two large jobs for DHL and Cricket. Both were printed on our Promo material. The DHL design worked really well on the promo since this material seems to soak up any type of background! We printed two types of Camo backgrounds for an event they are doing for the National Guard. Cricket decided to change their order up a bit this time and just went with their standard logo. The green letter really makes this simpler deisgn pop! Look for upcoming blogs on this months favorite Custom picks, and some new black picks!
We received another set of contracts back from Glasstone Records, this one is for the band Brotherhood of the Lake. They are located in Plymouth, United Kingdom. This band is considered metal/rock/hardcore. While listening to their press kit I definitely got the idea that they were a heavy metal band. Which it was great to hear for a change, since we’ve been receiving mostly rock/punk/country press kits lately, which of course is just as great! We like variety around here, music is music, right? We are more then interested in reviewing all stages of bands, and in endorsing new bands. If you are interested in an endorsement and use our products you can mail us a press kit to:

Glasstone Records sent us press kit a few months back, we are in the process of endorsing several of their bands. You should have seen the stack of contracts I had to sign, my hand was aching at the end of it! :). When we get them all back I will take a picture with them all so you can see why, haha. We just got the first contracts back from Neil, Tom and Adam of Shotgun Riot. I think this is out first hardcore punk endorsee. They definently have a real gritty hardcore sound to them that any deep rock fan can appreciate. I normally don’t listen to the more hardcore stuff but you actually hear what these guys are saying so it is enjoyable and not so tough on the ears. Definently a band you would have to turn up to the max to get the full effect of. This band is located in London, UK. Check out their myspace to sample their music. Also, look out for more posts soon about Glasstone Records and new bands to be endorsed.
