Amourous Art

Hey Clayton customers! Check out these cool designs that are being submitted by some of our other customers! Both of these picks were designed for weddings, and we love how creative they are! Both are two-sided designs. The top pick design was made on our white pearl material, with full bleed art that almost covers the entirety of the pick, so it gives the appearance of being golden on one side and pink on the other. Of course, both sets of picks display the couple’s name and the wedding date. The second pick design is on our white delrin material, which really makes the red color of the tree pop. Both pick sets will be great as wedding favors that can tie into the wedding theme and impress guests with originality. Are you planning a 2012 wedding? Pick of the Week — Warrior Spirit Band

This week’s Pick of the Week was created for a unique band known as the Warrior Spirit Band. “They are the first all wounded warrior band in the US. Their mission is to bring awareness to various disabilities our veterans and soldiers face once they come home after war. They use music as a healing tool and a way to tell their stories of the experiences they had during combat and the struggles they have faced since coming home. Their goal is to make sure that every veteran that has a disability knows that there is help….and giving up is never an option! The Warrior Spirit band has the potential to do so much for our men and women of the armed forces that have sacrificed their ability to lead a normal life after being wounded or disabled in a combat zone. Warrior Spirit will help bring selected veterans outreach programs into the spotlight and will raise awareness of the struggles that our service men and women go through upon returning home and re-acclimating to a normal life.” Find out more about this amazing group at http://www.warriorspiritband.com/ Warrior Spirit Band’s picks were made on our white pearl material, which gives their logo an awesome 3-D effect and makes the gradient in the text really pop. Pick of the Week — Herbango

This week’s Pick of the Week was made for a band called Herbango. “The band is based in Sacramento, California.  Herbango plays a mix of songs which sound like folk, rock, blues or country, so the genre can be hard to label. In addition to original music, the band interprets tunes composed by Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones and others in their own way.  Herbango performances may include versions of traditional music taken from country, bluegrass or even celtic sources, but redone to give them an upbeat rock and roll flavor.  The band mixes acoustic instruments, such as fiddle, clarinet, flute, upright bass, mandolin or even harp, with organ, electric guitar and drums to put a new spin on some great old music.” To find out more about Herbango, visit http://www.herbango.com/. Herbango’s picks were made on our white pearl pick material, which goes great with the green and yellow colors in the art. Create and order your own custom picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Pick of the Week — Blue Eyed Blonde

This week’s Pick of the Week was ordered by Clayton Customer and Musician Fred Hiscock. Fred is 39
and is from St john’s, nl, Canada. Here is a little about Fred in his own words: “I’ve been playing the guitar and singing for 24 years now and have been performing live for over 20 years. I live in the province of Newfoundland, a large island off the east coast of Canada, and have travelled all over the island performing mostly cover music. Our band Blue Eyed Blonde has enjoyed great success in the local cover music scene for the past nine years and we have plans to record in the future. We are a high energy and entertaining five piece rock band with a female lead singer, bass, keyboards, drums and guitar. When I decided to look for a custom guitar pick, I knew Steve Clayton and his team could deliver. We designed the logo ourselves (logo was created by former band member Chris Sooley)  and use it on all BEB merchandise we sell.” To find out more about Blue Eyed Blonde, check out their facebook group at  http://www.facebook.com/groups/blueeyedblonde/. The Blued Eyed Blonde picks were made on our white pearl material, with a full color print. The white pearl picks, which have a marbleized quality, were a great choice to make the design look almost like it has some sparkle to it. Pick of the Week — Jeff Latham Band

This week’s Pick of the Week was created by Jeff Latham for the Jeff Latham band. We really liked the full color logo that was printed on our white pearl rounded triangle picks. Here is a little about Jeff and his band: “Growing up in West Texas on a heavy diet of mom’s Johnny Paycheck and dad’s Don Williams, Jeff Latham was greatly influenced by the country classics which is decidedly evident in his voice.  From George Jones and Hank Williams Jr. to contemporary country artists Toby Keith and Jason Aldean. The Jeff Latham Band’s set list attempts to strike a balance between the old and the new with stops in the Texas singer/songwriter scene along the way. Their “Rocky-Tonk” style essentially captures the essence of Texas dive-bar country. Sit down, have a drink, or get up and dance. Either way, you will enjoy the show. To find out more about The Jeff Latham Band, visit www.thejefflathamband.com. Pick of the Week — The Madow Brothers

This week’s Pick of the Week was created for an unusual band called The Madow Brothers…the team here at Clayton really loved their story! “The Madow Brothers – Dr. Richard Madow and Dr. David Madow, are two dentists (and brothers) who have been teaching their colleagues how to have more successful practices and enjoy their profession more for over 22 years. In 1995, they had a crazy idea – that instead of being a boring snoozefest, a dental seminar could be like a rock concert. With that in mind they created TBSE – an amazing dental event with full staging, rock and roll sound and lighting, celebrity speakers, loud music, crazy videos, and most of all, dentists and team members from all around the world dancing in the aisles and having the time of their lives!
This annual event happens every fall in Las Vegas – and The Madow Brothers get to hit the stage, playing crazy and hilarious dental songs to well over 2000 attendees. It is often referred to as ‘The Woodstock Of Dentistry!’  Besides their annual Vegas event, they get to tour the continent, speaking and playing music to audiences in every major city in North America.
They always finish each performance with a live song – and they can’t wait to throw their custom Clayton picks into the crowd!” They say that it “has been fantastic to share their enthusiasm for music and performance with such great people. Musicians and performers are found in all walks of life – even dentistry! We are thankful to be able to share this with so many others.” To learn more about this unique duo, check out one of their dental music videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7LzIUtlXOQ. The Madow Brothers’ picks were made on our white pearl pick material. We really liked the classy look of their logo on the marbleized white background. Pick of the Week — Video Games Live

We are proud to feature an amazing pick design for this week’s Pick of the Week! They were designed by Clayton customer Tommy Tallarico. “Tommy is a veritable video game industry icon.  As one of the most successful video game composers in history, he has helped revolutionize the gaming world, creating unique audio landscapes that enhance the video gaming experience.  Tallarico has been writing music for video games for more than 21 years.  He has won over 45 industry awards and has worked on more than 275 game titles; to date.  No one in the history of the video game industry has ever worked on more titles and projects.  In 2008, he was enshrined in the Guinness Book of World Records and currently holds 3 Guinness World Records including the person who has worked on the most commercially released video games.  In 2005 he launched his highly successful worldwide Video Games Live concert series which opened at the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Philharmonic.” The team here at Clayton was really exited about Tommy’s picks, because the design is intricate with a variety of shading, but came out beautifully on our white pearl pick material. They were created for a special event called Video Games Live. “Video Games Live is an immersive concert event featuring music from the greatest video games of all time.  Top orchestras and choirs around the world perform along with exclusive video footage and music arrangements, synchronized lighting, special fx, solo performers, electronic percussion, live action and unique interactive segments to create an explosive one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.  VGL has been featured as a PBS Special (2010) and their album debuted at #8 on the Billboard charts.

Pick of the Week — Borrowed Time

This week’s Pick of the Week is for a Blues/Rock jam band/cover band in suburban Chicago called Borrowed Time.  Here is a little about the band from guitarist Michael Sommerfeld: “What we really are is a bunch of old friends with wives and kids who started getting together at a studio on Thursday nights to just jam for the hell of it.  After about 5 years we realized we were making some good music and we should start playing in front of people.  So we started playing local bars, and had our friends come my.  The gig offers just kept coming, and we will continue to play as long as we can (or the wives let us).  We pretty much will play for free (or at least beer), as this is not our career, but rather an escape from our careers.  Our song repertoire includes Beatles, Petty, Dylan, Grateful Dead, and basically any song that sounds good with a jam.   You can see a a little more about us in a very incomplete website www.borrowedtimefan.com.  Also would add that we have a face book page
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Borrowed-Time/175263943986. I was very proud of my pick design, so I am very excited that it is being acknowledged.  Your website interface is superb, and I can’t say enough about the timing of the delivery, as well as how great the picks turned out.  So thanks!!!!” Michael designed his picks for your white pearl material, which gives a cool, almost 3-D appearance for their logo. Go All Out

We decided to showcase a couple of really nice overbleed custom pick designs. Overbleed, or full bleed, is an option for custom picks that allows you to create your design so that the art, graphics, photos, text, etc. will extend all the way to the very edge of the pick, instead of having a border around them. This simple change in the normal design process will allow for some really cool effects, like the picks shown below. The pick on the left is our pink delrin material, and we like how the black design creates the effect of a patterned pick. The pick on the right is a white pearl, and the full coverage of the background in the art creates an illusion that the pick is colored instead of white, and has a really nice gradient. To have this option for your own custom picks, simply visit www.claytoncustom.com and start your design. When you reach the pick options page, you will see a box to the right that you can check to allow for the full bleed of your design. When you click this box, you will notice that the template on the next page will not include any border around your design. Just as a caution though, it is inadvisable to create a design that has a black full bleed background on a white guitar pick…these types of designs are highly susceptible to flaking once they are on the picks, and they often make the artwork appear muddy. Happy designing!

Pick of the Week — Midnight Run

This week’s Pick of the Week is for a band called Midnight Run. These picks were created on our white pearl material, and we love how Midnight Run’s artwork, with its bold colors, has a really cool 3-D look. They also chose a rounded triangle shape which added extra space for the design. Here is a little info about the band: “Dedicated to replicating the sounds of the phenomenal band, Journey, Midnight Run delivers incredible vocals, incredible sound and an incredible show. Each musician is committed to providing as true a sound to the original Journey band as possible, and the result is an experience that takes listeners back to times they cherish, while introducing a new generation to music they can love. Journey music shaped the 70s and 80s and today Journey continues to tour and create new albums, showcasing resiliency and talent. Midnight Run’s talents and commitment to perfection delivers music that is technically perfect, soulful and memorable. In the end, what separates good bands from great bands is passion. The five musicians of Midnight Run have always been passionate about music. Each took a different path in developing their talents and arriving at where they are today. Good tribute bands are dedicated to the music of the band they are covering. There’s lots of self-reflection and a continual dedication to the music. The work of Midnight Run in covering the Journey songbook is in itself a tribute to the music and a commitment to listeners to have a fantastic experience hearing the band. Midnight Run delivers: in music; in vocals; in showmanship; and especially in passion. A Midnight Run show is filled with energy and soul, whether it’s the driving beat of Any Way You Want It or the tender ballad When You Love a Woman. Lots of audience dancing and singing-along is standard fare at a Midnight Run show. The Midnight Run experience is excellent for everyone – those who book them appreciate the professionalism and promptness, and those who hear Midnight Run savor memories and appreciate the music of Journey all over again.
