Dia De Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a holiday celebrated mainly in the Mexican culture, but other cultures as well, to honor the lives of friends and family members who have passed away. This holiday spans from October 31st, when many people also celebrate Halloween, through November 2nd. Even though it is nowhere near that time of year right now, I wanted to feature these awesome Dia De Los Muertos custom guitar picks that were created and ordered by a Clayton Customer. I just love the variety of color, the eye-catching design, and how the white pearl picks give the design an almost 3-D effect. Flower-patterned, colorful skulls like this are very common in art and make-up used to commemorate the Day of the Dead. We also see art like this often on custom wedding guitar picks for weddings that have themes inspired by Mexican culture.

Over the years, Clayton, USA has added more and more pick options to our custom guitar pick line. I have realized that, currently, we offer five different white guitar pick options for custom printing, and some of you may be wondering which white pick material will be best for you?
Here is a quick guide to help you out!
1. White Delrin Picks: These are basic, bright white picks, similar to tortex material. They have a semi-gloss finish. They work best with dark, bright, and bold colors for custom designs. Black print is the best for this material.
2. Acetal Picks: Some customers choose acetal for custom picks because they have already tried our regular Clayton acetal picks and love them! Acetal picks are professional grade; known for having an excellent grip to them. They work well with a variety of colors for designs, as long as the shades are not too light. They are semi-transparent, so you want to keep this in mind for two-sided designs. They also can support full bleed backgrounds (except black) and photos.
3. Eco Picks: Eco picks are playable guitar picks, though they are not as durable as some of our other materials because they are a biodegradable plastic. However, if you are getting picks purely for promotional use, or give-aways, they are awesome because they can support absolutely ANY artwork. We have done photos, light color shades, high detail designs, and full coverage backgrounds, and they always turn out beautifully on Eco material!
4. White Pearl Picks: Our white pearl material is distinctive because it is marbleized, and has a glossy finish. These picks also work great with a wide variety of colors and can support light color shades (even light grey). You will just want to be aware that the marbleized quality will show through in the design that is printed on them (unless it is black print).
5. Carbonate Picks: Carbonate material is plain white, like white delrin, but with a gloss finish like white pearl. Carbonate, like white delrin, works best with bright and bold colors for the designs. We offer carbonate picks as our less-than-100 pick option… You can get custom carbonate picks in sets of 30 or 60, while our other white pick options have a minimum order quantity of 100.

I chose these custom picks to feature on our blog because the design immediately caught my eye. With popularity rising for mythical movies, tv shows, art, etc., custom picks that have a “Two Dragons” logo on them fit right in with today’s artistic styling. I also like how the background art, which shows a ship on the sea, works so well on the white pearl material. The different shades in the pearl definitely have the oceanic feel, as if the waves are actually moving when they catch the light. Basically just wonderful artwork, with the perfect pick material chosen to showcase it. To order your own custom picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com today!
I just had to do a post on these awesome foxy picks! Foxes happen to be one of my favorite animals, so I fell in love with this design. Our customer submitted a beautiful full color fox photo to have printed on our white pearl picks. Sometimes photos are not the best for white pearl material because of the marbleized quality, but in this case it was the perfect choice. The marbleized material adds a very artistic element to the image; almost as if it is a watercolor painting. It also creates a reflective light quality that makes the colors especially vibrant. This customer also chose the full bleed print option, so that the art runs all the way to the very edge of the pick. To order your own custom guitar picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com today!
A couple weeks ago, we had the opportunity to make guitar picks to help support a wonderful cause. One of our customers, Justin Jacobs, has a passion for guitars and has recently been working on a very special project…building a guitar that he has christened the 65 Roses Guitar. Jacobs himself was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of three, and he explains that kids that age have trouble saying “cystic fibrosis” and it ends up being pronounced like “sixty five roses.”
Because Cystic Fibrosis is still non-curable, Jacobs wanted to take action to help find a cure. He has combined his musical passion with his desire for change to come up with the unique idea of building this special guitar to auction off. In addition, he has gotten the signatures of many celebrities who support his cause, and he will be framing those and auctioning them off as well. He is also currently working on a musical line-up for a benefit concert where he’ll auction off the items and collect the funds to donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
To learn more about Justin Jacobs, his story, and the 65 Roses Guitar Project, visit
or check out these articles:
Remember that any contribution helps, even something a simple as clicking “Like” on the 65 Rose Guitar facebook page will help to generate recognition for all of the hard work that Justin is doing to benefit others who have suffered from this terrible condition.
Hey Clayton Customers! The team here at Clayton USA wants to wish you a Safe and Rockin’ Fourth of July! We hope you enjoy all the awesome mid-summer concerts and parties that are happening! How perfect that one of our fantastic customers recently created and ordered the picks shown below, which look like they have fireworks on them! I believe it is actually an astrological photo that was used for the design background, but they reminded me enough of fireworks to think of them as Independence Day picks! This week’s Pick of the Week was made for the band Standby Anchors.
The members of Standby Anchors are old enough to know better, but young enough to not care. The band offers amped-up power-pop with a dark side for those about to rock. The current line up of the band is: Mike Devine (lead vocals, guitar), Brent Anderson (drums), Bryan Scrivener (bass), and Phil Anderson (lead guitar, vocals). Standby Anchors is based in Kansas City and plays original songs that are best characterized as modern alternative/indie rock with a definite appreciation for alt rock sounds of the 80s and 90s through the present day. Members of the band have appeared in earlier projects that have toured across the United States and that have released records on indie labels.
On Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/
On Reverb Nation: http://www.reverbnation.com/
The Standby Anchors picks were made on our white pearl material and we love how clean and professional their solid black logo looks on the marbleized white picks. Featuring a whopping eleven-piece band, its four sizzling female singers put this group way over the top in the best of ways. The band features lead guitarist Joe “Ciid” Birardi, rhythm guitarist Bill Tuohy as well as bassist Wendy Williamson, and third guitarist Kevin Losardo. Add drummer Brian Picardi, percussionist Gerry Mac, and keyboardist Andy Ilyinsky and you have a full stage of rock and roll veterans that put on an unstoppable show.
Birardi’s “big” idea stemmed from watching the same old delivery in club after club where the music was governed by the stereotypical four-piece format. The EOS frontline is impressive indeed. Made up of Theresa Wilson, Dawn Szollar, Danielle Zelenak and Patti Ogletree, the four dynamic beauties spin rock and roll harmony between shifting lead vocal duties while the band holds it down behind them and it’s never a dull moment.
EOS has worked closely with several New Jersey charities including: Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, The NJ Elks Army of Hope, Operation Jersey Cares, and The Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Foundation. Thanks to you, they have been able to raise nearly $20K for these causes to date. All proceeds from their downloaded songs will be donated to our troops via Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon. EOS thanks you for your support! Find out more about EOS at www.eosrocks.com!
The EOS picks were made on our white pearl material, using the full bleed option that allows their design to fill the pick to the edge. We love the detail of their design, and the pearl is a great material to support the variety of warm color tones. Order your own custom picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!

This week’s Pick of the Week is for artist Lisa Matassa. Operatically trained as a child, and with a resonantly powerful pop voice, Lisa recorded two top-10 dance singles before she was 20. The songs were huge hits in the U.S. and abroad, earning her performing slots in concerts with such acts as Taylor Dayne, Brenda K. Starr and TKA. Born on Long Island, but raised in south Florida, Lisa had always loved singing along to records by Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash, and she realized more and more that country music was where her heart was. Capitalizing on country’s contemporary rock-tinged arrangements, Lisa found she could blend the natural heartfelt soul of country with her own stylized brand of New York edginess. She is now considered Long Island’s first bona fide country artist and has opened shows for Dierks Bentley, Leann Rimes, Thompson Square, Eric Church and, most recently, Ronnie Dunn at a “Vets Rock” concert at Brookhaven Amphitheatre in Farmingville, NY. Recently, Lisa was asked to sing the U.S. and Canadian anthems during the Delaware Ohio County Fair as part of the event’s prestigious Little Brown Jug harness racing event, which draws thousands of fans annually. As Lisa’s career gains momentum, and her new-release album Somebody’s Baby continues gathering national attention through digital downloads, streaming and radio programming, it’s a sure bet Long Island won’t be the only place where the name Lisa Matassa generates real excitement in country music.

Lisa Matassa’s custom guitar picks were made on our white pearl material. The white pearl is perfect for the gradient quality of her red-orang-yellow logo, and gives the graphic a 3-D appearence.

Today we wanted to show off some of the creative wedding guitar picks designs that our customers have created! Custom wedding picks have become a very popular item, and they are used as favors, decorations, gifts, thank-you’s and announcements! Let your creativity loose by creating a really unique design like those shown below:
To the far left, the pick design mimics the opening title of The Simpsons TV show, but of course is replaced by the couple’s last name. This is a full bleed design on our acetal material guitar picks. For the middle pick, the couple chose to use a caricature of themselves (also full bleed art on acetal material). For the pick on the far right, the design is a very pretty bird and anchor graphic, and on the back of the picks is printed the couple’s names, their wedding date, and the the phrase “Flying High and Steady.” These were done on our white pearl picks, which helps to showcase the beautiful colors of the graphic and gives the picks a very classy “wedding look.”
Because of the popularity of wedding guitar picks, we have made a new website specifically to share designs and ideas; www.customweddingpicks.com. You can contact us directly with questions regarding wedding picks or how to order at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to assist you. We would also love to feature more ideas on our site, so if you are interested please let us know!

Are you looking for a custom guitar pick in a color that perfectly fits your design? Try out our colored pearl picks! Shown below is an example of how a customer fit their design together with the colored pearl pick option:
The customer had the text “Hot Copper,” and they chose a flame graphic from our clip art library. Then, they chose a copper color for the picks so that all elements of the design go together!
Our colored pearl picks are the same celluloid material as the white pearl picks, but they can be custom color matched in addition to having a custom design printed on them. When you place your order, there is a full color palette to allow for the color choice for the picks. This is a great option if our other picks don’t come in the exact color you are looking for. Also, colored pearl picks are wonderful for weddings since they can be matched to specific wedding colors!

This week’s Pick of the Week was created by Christian Vasquez of Off The Turnpike.
“Since 2011, Off The Turnpike has made it their mission to wake up New York’s long dormant rock scene with a powerful and diverse sound all their own. The band’s hard rock roots are tempered with an emphasis on melody, grooves and the unexpected. From Andy Sexton’s soulful and commanding vocals, to Christian Vasquez’s driving guitars and the beastly rhythm section of bassist Shawn Abraham and drummer Steve Kurlat, Off The Turnpike is here to confound expectations and electrify fans of raw, honest, and uncompromising music. Drawing inspiration from music of all genres and fusing it into a cohesive and powerful mix, Off The Turnpike is blazing forward in surprising new directions. With the release of their self produced self-titled debut album, the band is pushing their music beyond New York and bring the news of rock’s revival to the hungry masses. You’re not ready. But they are.”
Off The Turnpike has been together for little over two years; Christian started the band with Shawn Abraham (bass). On August 25th they will be celebrating their one year anniversary of playing live shows with a live show at Fontana’s NYC. Their most recent achievement was the release of their debut album on June 19 of this year.
The Off The Turnpike picks were made on our white pearl material guitar picks, which have a marbleized quality and glossy finish that looks classy with the deep red logo of the band. To order your own custom picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com today!
This week’s Pick of the Week was made for the Zero Recall band. “The band is relatively new, and is an all out, fun time cover band from New York City. The members of the band are mostly financial services people during the day and closeted, wannabe rock and roll stars at night. The goal every time they play is to make awesome music and to make the crowd dance and sing along. They all come from different backgrounds and draw from many musical genres for their performances. They’re doing classic rock hits 70’s- 2k’s and they are starting to get a decent following. NY city bar based rock and roll is what they are delivering, and a good time is pretty much a guarantee!” To find out more about Zero Recall, visit their site at http://www.zerorecallband.com/ or check them out on Facebook! The Zero Recall band picks were made on our white pearl material, which gives the awesome flames in their design a nice 3D quality. To order your own custom picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com today!
This week’s Pick of the Week was made for the band Up a Creek. “Up a Creek is a Bellevue based shed bred group of fellas playing Southern Idaho Folk ‘n Roll. Featuring original song writing, the band can best describe their music as a mix of folk and rock…Acoustic guitars. Electric guitars. Whats the difference? Its all in the story. These boys tell a lot of stories. Stories about lovers and losers, sinners and fools. Sifting through the pieces. Redemption always seeming to be just a bit out of reach. So come on out and join their friends and families for some drinkin and strummin small town honky tonkin! Just a few black eyes and angry wives!” Find out more about Up a Creek at http://upacreekmusic.com. The Up a Creek picks were made on our colored pearl guitar pick material. These picks can be custom color matched as well as having a custom design print. Up a Creek chose a rustic brown/red color that suites their style, and they feature their simple and clean black logo for a really professional look. The chosen Pick of the Week this week was made for the band Freaky Urban Troopers. They are a funk-rock/progressive-rock band from Vienna/Austria founded in 2011 who are currently starting out, playing (and winning;) several band-contests with national and international gigs and recording their first album in summer 2012. Here is a bio taken from their official site at http://www.freakyurbantroopers.com/:
Groovy beats, funky rock-guitars, freaky rhythms, fantastic melodies and a voice which enlightens your soul with pure desire and deliciousness. We come to rock your house, whatever you are up to. You may have heard of urban legends? …well…then you will probably like THIS:
Legend has it that it all started out as a songwriting-project between Juri and Michi in a shabby little students’ apartment in the slums of Alsergrund, Vienna, back in the late last decade, growing with the congeniality of their comrades in arms into something more inspiring, inconceivably ingenious and thriving than they would have ever imagined (isn’t it nice to be so down to earth besides being extremely modest at the same time?). Others say it was pure determination…or neither of it…who will ever know?
Fact is, that five talented artists with music in their heart and full devotion to their musical goals are on a mission to spread their freaky urban sound among their audience, keeping them procking and grooving. Freaky Urban Troopers are a force to be reckoned with…seriously…
You can also find out more about Freaky Urban Troopers on their facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/freakyurbantroopers.
The Freaky Urban Troopers picks were made on our white pearl material, which nicely supports their detailed red and black logo art. To design and order your own custom made guitar picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com!
This week’s Pick of the Week was made for the band Whiskey Twin. “Whiskey Twin is a Minneapolis band that plays an eclectic mix of rock and alternative covers, in addition to original songs. The band met through a program at Minneapolis’ Twin Town Guitars, where bands play a set at a local bar after six weeks of rehearsals. The members of Whiskey Twin enjoyed the experience of playing together so much they wanted to continue and play their own gigs. They continue to hone their chops through ongoing involvement with one of Twin Town’s instructors, Mark Wade, who is also the bassist for the band The Melismatics.
The band is fronted by Mandy Simmons’ strong, confident and tender vocals. Mandy is supported by three diverse guitarists; Ed Fruin, Ed Wilms and John Morris. The band’s heartbeat comes from Tom Parsons on bass, and Tony Scott’s driving drums and occasional primal screams.
The band picked their name as homage to Twin Town Guitars, where they met; and Whiskey Junction, the bar in which they first played together. Ed Fruin designed the picks and took inspiration from the labels on the bottles of premium spirits.” Whiskey Twins’ picks were made on our white pearl guitar pick material, which best supports parchment background and variety of color in the design. To create your own custom guitar picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com!
See http://www.facebook.com/pages/Whiskey-Twin/253379511378342 on Facebook for Whiskey Twin band updates and future gigs.

Hey Clayton customers! Check out these cool designs that are being submitted by some of our other customers! Both of these picks were designed for weddings, and we love how creative they are! Both are two-sided designs. The top pick design was made on our white pearl material, with full bleed art that almost covers the entirety of the pick, so it gives the appearance of being golden on one side and pink on the other. Of course, both sets of picks display the couple’s name and the wedding date. The second pick design is on our white delrin material, which really makes the red color of the tree pop. Both pick sets will be great as wedding favors that can tie into the wedding theme and impress guests with originality. Are you planning a 2012 wedding? Start designing your custom wedding guitar picks today at www.claytoncustom.com. Looking for inspiration? Check out our website designated specifically for wedding picks that shows what customers have created before to help you come up with some ideas: www.customweddingpicks.com.
This week’s Pick of the Week was created for a unique band known as the Warrior Spirit Band. “They are the first all wounded warrior band in the US. Their mission is to bring awareness to various disabilities our veterans and soldiers face once they come home after war. They use music as a healing tool and a way to tell their stories of the experiences they had during combat and the struggles they have faced since coming home. Their goal is to make sure that every veteran that has a disability knows that there is help….and giving up is never an option! The Warrior Spirit band has the potential to do so much for our men and women of the armed forces that have sacrificed their ability to lead a normal life after being wounded or disabled in a combat zone. Warrior Spirit will help bring selected veterans outreach programs into the spotlight and will raise awareness of the struggles that our service men and women go through upon returning home and re-acclimating to a normal life.” Find out more about this amazing group at http://www.warriorspiritband.com/ Warrior Spirit Band’s picks were made on our white pearl material, which gives their logo an awesome 3-D effect and makes the gradient in the text really pop. Order your own custom guitar picks today at www.claytoncustom.com. And, if you are ordering custom picks as a holiday gift, hurry up!! Time is running out!!
This week’s Pick of the Week was made for a band called Herbango. “The band is based in Sacramento, California. Herbango plays a mix of songs which sound like folk, rock, blues or country, so the genre can be hard to label. In addition to original music, the band interprets tunes composed by Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones and others in their own way. Herbango performances may include versions of traditional music taken from country, bluegrass or even celtic sources, but redone to give them an upbeat rock and roll flavor. The band mixes acoustic instruments, such as fiddle, clarinet, flute, upright bass, mandolin or even harp, with organ, electric guitar and drums to put a new spin on some great old music.” To find out more about Herbango, visit http://www.herbango.com/. Herbango’s picks were made on our white pearl pick material, which goes great with the green and yellow colors in the art. Create and order your own custom picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!
This week’s Pick of the Week was created by Jeff Latham for the Jeff Latham band. We really liked the full color logo that was printed on our white pearl rounded triangle picks. Here is a little about Jeff and his band: “Growing up in West Texas on a heavy diet of mom’s Johnny Paycheck and dad’s Don Williams, Jeff Latham was greatly influenced by the country classics which is decidedly evident in his voice. From George Jones and Hank Williams Jr. to contemporary country artists Toby Keith and Jason Aldean. The Jeff Latham Band’s set list attempts to strike a balance between the old and the new with stops in the Texas singer/songwriter scene along the way. Their “Rocky-Tonk” style essentially captures the essence of Texas dive-bar country. Sit down, have a drink, or get up and dance. Either way, you will enjoy the show.
