Pink Elephants on Parade

I personally love elephants so I had to show off this cool custom guitar pick design! These picks were made for musical artist Florent Mothe.

Florent’s first album “ROCK IN CHAIR” is currently available on iTunes for download, or to Elephantspurchase as a CD in France. Here is a link for iTunes : http://bit.ly/Mothe_RIC
Official Website is www.florentmothe.com
Official facebook page is : www.facebook.com/florentmotheofficiel

Official Twitter account : @florentmotheoff
We love the whimsical design of the picks. Also, note how the picks look like they are yellow, but they are actually white pearl in base. The “full bleed” print option was utilized, meaning that the yellow background extends all the way to the edge of the pick, making it look like it is actually a yellow pick. This is a great option if you are wanting to print multiple colors, but still have the look of a colored pearl pick, because our true colored pearl material can only support black ink designs.

Pick of the Week — Standby Anchors

This week’s Pick of the Week was made for the band Standby Anchors.

The members of Standby Anchors are old enough to know better, but young enough to not care.  The band offers amped-up power-pop with a dark side for those about to rock.  The current line up of the band is:  Mike Devine (lead vocals, guitar), Brent Anderson (drums), Bryan Scrivener (bass), and Phil Anderson (lead guitar, vocals).  Standby Anchors is based in Kansas City and plays original songs that are best characterized as modern alternative/indie rock with a definite appreciation for alt rock sounds of the 80s and 90s through the present day.  Members of the band have appeared in earlier projects that have toured across the United States and that have released records on indie labels.

Pick of the Week — EOS

This week’s Pick of the Week is for the band EOS:

Featuring a whopping eleven-piece band, its four sizzling female singers put this group way over the top in the best of ways. The band features lead guitarist Joe “Ciid” Birardi, rhythm guitarist Bill Tuohy as well as bassist Wendy Williamson, and third guitarist Kevin Losardo. Add drummer Brian Picardi, percussionist Gerry Mac, and keyboardist Andy Ilyinsky and you have a full stage of rock and roll veterans that put on an unstoppable show.

Birardi’s “big” idea stemmed from watching the same old delivery in club after club where the music was governed by the stereotypical four-piece format. The EOS frontline is impressive indeed. Made up of Theresa Wilson, Dawn Szollar, Danielle Zelenak and Patti Ogletree, the four dynamic beauties spin rock and roll harmony between shifting lead vocal duties while the band holds it down behind them and it’s never a dull moment.

EOS has worked closely with several New Jersey charities including: Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, The NJ Elks Army of Hope, Operation Jersey Cares, and The Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Foundation. Thanks to you, they have been able to raise nearly $20K for these causes to date.   All proceeds from their downloaded songs will be donated to our troops via Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon.  EOS thanks you for your support! Find out more about EOS at www.eosrocks.com!

The EOS picks were made on our white pearl material, using the full bleed option that allows their design to fill the pick to the edge. We love the detail of their design, and the pearl is a great material to support the variety of warm color tones. Order your own custom picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Geocache that Pick!

As many of you know, custom picks are not made solely for musicians. They are often used for advertising, weddings, and even as clasp-openers for jewelry. What we really love is when our customers can combine their love of music with other passions, and this is one of the most interesting combinations that we have heard of so far!

Lisa is “a 40-year-old mum shamelessly playing metal in the attic when the rest of the family is at school/work…” Her second hobby is geocaching. Geocaching is a sort of high-tech treasure hunt where people go looking for boxes hidden by other players with a GPS all over the world.
They are about 5 million players worldwide. One may find little objects in the “geocache” that they can trade with another little object.
Some players make a trading item with their geocaching nickname and drop it in the geocaches. This is where Lisa’s “signature items” come in. Lisa decided, because of her love for electric guitar, that a customized pick would be the perfect treasure: it relates to her, fits easily even in small caches, and is original.
Lisa’s geocaching name is “Mirage Breton” meaning, in French, “Mirage from Brittany”.
Brittany being a region of France heavily influenced by Celtic culture- hence the Triskell design you can partially see on the pick- which represents land, sea and fire.
Lisa writes: “I’m thrilled by the quality of the picks and I have an immense pleasure playing my guitar with ‘my own picks’. I’m also enjoying the fact that these picks are now traveling all over the earth (I travel a lot) and puzzling fellow geocachers…”
Follow Lisa in her geocaching adventures on Twitter at:

Shown here is the next geocache that Lisa is going to hide with the pick ready to be traded!

Lisa’s picks were made on our white pearl pick material, which gives that 3-D iridescent effect to her design. Order your own custom picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Pick of the Week — Sixteen Candles

This week’s Pick of the Week was created for the band Sixteen Candles.
Band Bio: Established in 2003. 16 Candles makes it their personal duty and pleasure to bring all the great 80′s songs you love to life in full force. Their attention to detail and commitment to entertainment captivates audiences and inspires new ways of dancing and thinking (not to mention drinking). The members are 5 fun-loving guys with a simple love for the music of years gone by and a mission to fuse nostalgia and style to create a sight/sound spectacular unlike any other.
To learn more about Sixteen Candles, visit their sites:
The Sixteen Candles picks were made on our white pearl material. White pearl is always a good choice for supporting designs with a gradient, such as the green 16 Candles logo. The band also chose to have a rounded triangles shape for the picks. The rounded triangle is an over-sized pick shape, and allows for optimal design space. Pick of the Week — Lisa Matassa

This week’s Pick of the Week is for artist Lisa Matassa. Operatically trained as a child, and with a resonantly powerful pop voice, Lisa recorded two top-10 dance singles before she was 20. The songs were huge hits in the U.S. and abroad, earning her performing slots in concerts with such acts as Taylor Dayne, Brenda K. Starr and TKA. Born on Long Island, but raised in south Florida, Lisa had always loved singing along to records by Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash, and she realized more and more that country music was where her heart was. Capitalizing on country’s contemporary rock-tinged arrangements, Lisa found she could blend the natural heartfelt soul of country with her own stylized brand of New York edginess. She is now considered Long Island’s first bona fide country artist and has opened shows for Dierks Bentley, Leann Rimes, Thompson Square, Eric Church and, most recently, Ronnie Dunn at a “Vets Rock” concert at Brookhaven Amphitheatre in Farmingville, NY. Recently, Lisa was asked to sing the U.S. and Canadian anthems during the Delaware Ohio County Fair as part of the event’s prestigious Little Brown Jug harness racing event, which draws thousands of fans annually. As Lisa’s career gains momentum, and her new-release album Somebody’s Baby continues gathering national attention through digital downloads, streaming and radio programming, it’s a sure bet Long Island won’t be the only place where the name Lisa Matassa generates real excitement in country music.

Creative Wedding Picks

Today we wanted to show off some of the creative wedding guitar picks designs that our customers have created! Custom wedding picks have become a very popular item, and they are used as favors, decorations, gifts, thank-you’s and announcements! Let your creativity loose by creating a really unique design like those shown below:

To the far left, the pick design mimics the opening title of The Simpsons TV show, but of course is replaced by the couple’s last name. This is a full bleed design on our acetal material guitar picks. For the middle pick, the couple chose to use a caricature of themselves (also full bleed art on acetal material). For the pick on the far right, the design is a very pretty bird and anchor graphic, and on the back of the picks is printed the couple’s names, their wedding date, and the the phrase “Flying High and Steady.” These were done on our white pearl picks, which helps to showcase the beautiful colors of the graphic and gives the picks a very classy “wedding look.”

Because of the popularity of wedding guitar picks, we have made a new website specifically to share designs and ideas; www.customweddingpicks.com. You can contact us directly with questions regarding wedding picks or how to order at weddingpicks@steveclayton.com and we will be happy to assist you. We would also love to feature more ideas on our site, so if you are interested please let us know!

Colored Pearl Custom Picks

Are you looking for a custom guitar pick in a color that perfectly fits your design? Try out our colored pearl picks! Shown below is an example of how a customer fit their design together with the colored pearl pick option:

The customer had the text “Hot Copper,” and they chose a flame graphic from our clip art library. Then, they chose a copper color for the picks so that all elements of the design go together!

Our colored pearl picks are the same celluloid material as the white pearl picks, but they can be custom color matched in addition to having a custom design printed on them. When you place your order, there is a full color palette to allow for the color choice for the picks. This is a great option if our other picks don’t come in the exact color you are looking for. Also, colored pearl picks are wonderful for weddings since they can be matched to specific wedding colors!
