Chris Martin Band

Products used: Clayton Custom 0.5mm Acetal, 0.5mm Black Celluloid, 0.8mm Black Celluloid

“We’ve used Steve Clayton custom picks from the very beginning, everyone in the band got CMB logo picks to use and share.  Not only do they look and play great, you should see the faces of the folks that end up with one at a show!  It’s like they’ve got a little piece of our dream!”  Mark White, Bass & Vocals

Chris Martin is an up and coming singer/songwriter/guitarist from the Emerald Coast of Florida, born and raised in Pensacola. His roots in traditional country music, from George Strait to Keith Whitley, have helped shape his contemporary country music sound. Chris’ easy going manner is completely evident in his smooth vocal style, delivering a uniquely recognizable “blue-eyed soul” meets “Nashville drawl” in his renditions of current country hits as well as original material. Backed by the “hottest little band in P’Cola”, the Chris Martin Band has made an indelible mark on the regional music scene, having achieved some impressive milestones for a band just over a year old. Not content to follow the typical “bar band” business model, the Chris Martin Band continue to hone their craft at fairs, festivals and concerts in the SE and beyond. With a Nashville produced, all original EP released in March 2014, and having shared the stage with the likes of Bo Bice, Charlie Daniels and Southern Rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd, the future continues to look very bright for this new country artist and his band.

Jeff Przech

Products used: Clayton Standard Duraplex Picks .73mm & .88mm
“The first thing that caught my eye about Clayton picks was strictly aesthetic – I thought they just looked cooler than the other picks out there! Once I bought a couple of packs and started using them I noticed the difference immediately. They feel stronger in my fingers, last longer, and, most importantly, they just sound better than the picks I was using. Some might find it hard to believe that something as simple as a guitar pick can have an effect on your sound, but it most definitely can and does. I’m a Clayton convert and I’m not going back.”
“We can sit a while and I’ll sing some songs ’bout where we’re going, not where we’ve been” – Jeff Przech, “Back Again”
The end of 2014 finds Connecticut songwriter Jeff Przech at work on his debut solo record, “Sounds Like Fresh.” The title is a little piece of wordplay on Jeff’s last name, which actually does sound like fresh. The album’s eleven tracks (ten original songs and a cover of Ryan Adams’ “English Girls Approximately”) are an amalgam of stories (both fiction and non-fiction), strong melodies, and expressive, honest lyrics. Przech is a reflective and genuine songwriter, one who takes great pride in his craft. “Sounds Like Fresh” will be Przech’s first, but certainly not last, entry into the arena of American(a) music. There are songs about where he’s been, but “Sounds Like Fresh” gives a crystal clear glimpse of where Jeff Przech is going as well. The songs that make up “Sounds Like Fresh” were written over the past few years, but really started to come to life  early in 2014 as Przech was working on original music with his band, The Bus Drivers. Once the creative floodgates opened, the songs kept coming. Some of the songs didn’t fit the band dynamic, leading Przech to begin work on “Sounds Like Fresh.” A weeklong trip to the solitude of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom this summer provided the finishing touches on the songs that will make up what he expects will be the first of many records to come.

Clayton Endorsee Sonar Lights to tour China 2014!

DFW based original rock band Sonar Lights sets out to tour China for the second year in a row.

Dallas/Fort Worth, TX – Sonar Lights is eagerly gearing up for their second China tour in May 2014. The rock trio from Dallas/Fort Worth, TX made quite an impression last year with Chinese fans and promoters. After their successful “Enter the Snake 2013” tour, the band was promptly asked to return to rock the masses again at the Midi Festival; the largest rock festival in the country.

The past 12 months have been extremely busy for the band. In addition to their overseas touring duties, the band has built their own recording/rehearsal studio and is in pre-production for their second independently released album. They’ve accomplished all this without the backing of a label, management team or distribution deal.

ABOUT
Sonar Lights was formed in 2010 and has been hovering under the mainstream radar. Their sharp songwriting delivered by a balanced meld of mighty early heavy metal guitar hooks, pummeling rhythmic textures and melodic vocals are things that do not go unnoticed. Sonar Lights independently released their debut album, “Here We Are” in 2012 and has steadily gained credibility from fans, the media and fellow musicians alike.

Disc jockey Angela Chase from 97.1 FM “The Eagle,” the largest rock station in North Texas said on her show, “I would highly recommend that you spend the $9.99 on iTunes and download a copy of Sonar Lights album. They have quite a few good songs on it.”

The band’s image and sound has caught the attention of the industry’s top music equipment manufacturers. Sonar Lights has proudly built working sponsorships with Bogner Amplification, Eden Electronics, Essential Sound Products, George L’s, Mono Case, PRS Guitars, Trailer Trash Pedalboards, Warwick Bass Guitars, Pigtronix Effect Pedals, Clayton guitar picks and Dunlop electronics.

The band has also toured nationally and shared the stage with some of music’s biggest acts, including: The B-52’s, Vince Neil, Cowboy Mouth, Rigor Mortis, Candle Box, Mute Math, Los Lonely Boys, The Toadies and Bowling for Soup.

In addition, Pandora Internet Radio included Sonar Lights’ entire album to their program giving fans the chance to create and stream their own Sonar Lights station. You’ll most likely hear similar sounding, well recognized bands like Foo Fighters, STP, Seether and Chevell on their station.

Sonar Lights is dedicated to bringing back the ideal of creating an album with a reason for existence and delivers a style of rock that has been desperately missed.

What better way to make them stand out than with some custom guitar picks crowning the tops? Below is a photo sent to us by customer Deanna Vickers, who placed an order for custom guitar picks for a friend’s birthday party. Robots playing with Clayton Picks?!

Yes, you did read that right! However, it’s actually called a humanoid and has 78 fingers! The band is made up of three which are named March (guitarist with 78 fingers), Ashura (drummer with 22 arms) and Cosmo (keyboardist). We always love to come across crazy ways that our picks are used but seeing robots play with them is pretty amazing we have to say! Also, some good news is that these robots still require a humans help so no worries about robots trying to replace live guitarists in bands (as if they could) :-)! Check the video out for yourself here:

To start shopping for Christmas gifts, especially a customized gift! We do have a holiday shipping schedule on our custom site, but sometimes it can be missed so we thought we would also share it here. Custom Guitar Picks are a great gift not only for that special guitarist in your life but also for business cards, new baby announcements and more. The gift ideas for custom guitar picks are really endless, picks aren’t just for musicians ;-)! Below is our last day to order schedule based on what shipping method you choose. This is for the following pick materials only: Colored Delrin, White Pearl, White Delrin, Acetal, Ultem, Carbonate, Text Only, Eco, Metallics and Colored Pearl. Unfortunately, it is past the cut off date to receive a specialty item by Christmas, those materials are: Glow in the Dark, Black Celluloid, and Hot Stamp Foil. These do take 4-6 weeks to produce so they would likely arrive sometime after the holiday. We also often get asked if your order will be received by the holiday if you are not located in the US. To receive a package internationally by Christmas we recommend ordering FedEx Express shipping ($35.00) which takes 2-3 days and is traceable with insurance included. Also, we would strongly suggest sending an email to orders@steveclayton.com with your ORDER ID number stating these are for a Christmas gift so we can mark it to go out in time for Christmas delivery (this applies to international orders only, if you order by the dates below and one of the materials listed above you do not need to do anything else to receive by Christmas). If you have more questions regarding Christmas delivery you can email us at questions@steveclayton.com or call us at 1-877-752-9484.

Strumming for the Cause

A couple weeks ago, we had the opportunity to make guitar picks to help support a wonderful cause. One of our customers, Justin Jacobs, has a passion for guitars and has recently been working on a very special project…building a guitar that he has christened the 65 Roses Guitar. Jacobs himself was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of three, and he explains that kids that age have trouble saying “cystic fibrosis” and it ends up being pronounced like “sixty five roses.”

Because Cystic Fibrosis is still non-curable, Jacobs wanted to take action to help find a cure. He has combined his musical passion with his desire for change to come up with the unique idea of building this special guitar to auction off. In addition, he has gotten the signatures of many celebrities who support his cause, and he will be framing those and auctioning them off as well. He is also currently working on a musical line-up for a benefit concert where he’ll auction off the items and collect the funds to donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

560541_426426924144421_826325658_nOur contribution to Justin’s project was to donate custom guitar picks that he can hand out to help spread awareness about his project and what he is trying to accomplish.

To learn more about Justin Jacobs, his story, and the 65 Roses Guitar Project, visit

Remember that any contribution helps, even something a simple as clicking “Like” on the 65 Rose Guitar facebook page will help to generate recognition for all of the hard work that Justin is doing to benefit others who have suffered from this terrible condition.

Whalin’

TheWhales
One of our Clayton Customers is ready to wail on the  guitar with these custom whale guitar picks! Okay, I admit that I chose these to post on our blog because I thought they were cute, but the design also happened to turn out really well! While  we are able to do pretty detailed custom designs, it is often the more simplistic art, with bold colors and large text, that really turn out the best. These picks were made on our white delrin pick material, which makes the bright blue color really pop! To order your own custom picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com

How many licks? Guitar licks that is…

StoneBaby

We just recently endorsed the guitarists in the band StoneBaby! Here is a little bit about the band: With the inception of the band came an almost magical approach to writing and developing original music between the original members whose friendship spanned better than a decade. Scott Philipp, a singer /songwriter immersed in the Philadelphia music scene, was lead to push himself and focus on his powerful vocals. Scott creates tasteful melodies and lyrics over his forever simple, yet developing guitar playing skills. As he introduces ideas he and Tony Schiavo (Drums), always collaborate on the arrangement of the music to create a stylized rhythm that is unique to each song. Until recently, the band had cravings for a guitar player w-Stonebaby-2013--414-Editho would add simple dynamics and depth to the songs. With the revolving guitar position, the band made a commitment to head into the studio and record a three song EP to develop a style that would pinpoint the lead guitar sound that they really needed. Producer Drew Raison of Big Sky Audio, took the reins and seasoned the music to what is now the true sound of StoneBaby. The new recording, which has a commercial rock appeal, is set to capture all age listeners. As the band continues to evolve with new music… and newly added guitar and bass  players, Bobby Leonhardt and Jason Shainline the EP is certain to prove to be a canvas for the band to expand its musical creativity and listening audience.

Rock the Fourth!

Hey Clayton Customers! The team here at Clayton USA wants to wish you a Safe and Rockin’ Fourth of July! We hope you enjoy all the awesome mid-summer concerts and parties that are happening! How perfect that one of our fantastic customers recently created and ordered the picks shown below, which look like they have fireworks on them! I believe it is actually an astrological photo that was used for the design background, but they reminded me enough of fireworks to think of them as Independence Day picks! If this year’s celebrations inspire you to create  some explosive designs for custom picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com to start making your custom pick art today! Scatter1_
