2 Time VRMA Award Winning Shock Metal Band
WINNERS OF THE 2013 VRMA AWARD FOR “BEST OF VEGAS”
WINNERS OF THE 2011 VRMA AWARD FOR “BEST SHOCK ROCK”
In early 2011 a band of miscreants came crawling from the darkest corners of sin city nevada. This pack of the undead and some not so dead come from many different genres of the unimaginable, yet their styles mesh seamlessly. They have an aggressive, hard, gritty edge that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. I.D.S.F.A. released their first full length self titled CD in September of 2013 with songs about revenge, death, mayhem, and zombies, that is just the tip of the iceberg.
And if the music wasn’t enough to make you’re pubic hairs curl, the stage show is not to be missed either. along with their side-kicks “The Bio-Bastards”, I.D.S.F.A. is whipping up a frenzy with a new and exciting show. it’s filled with drum beating zombies, an 8-foot anti-aircraft gun, washed up sea creatures from the japan tsunami, plus much much more. But wait, There’s more. The only Bleeding Bass guitar in existence is sure to make your jaw drop.
I.D.S.F.A. consists of Knuckletooth on vocals, Travesty on the Bleeding Bass, Dr. Skum on the drums, R.I.P. on guitar and The Bio Bastards with their on stage antics.

“The Best Guitar Picks Ever…i’ve tried and played with lots of different brands over the years but this picks are out of this world….”
Lost in the Forest of a Dream, Andy Sarcone Rooney (Lead Guitarist / Vocalist)
conjured up this hex on a windy night, under the light of a SPELLED MOON…
Conceived in a professional studio atmosphere since the beginning and styled on an eclectic mix of Power Metal and Neo Classical flavors with movie score backgrounds.
11 tales were written for this first album, and the magic began to happen.
The recording sessions soared to new heights of production value
At Tony Bongiovi’s POWER STATION studios with main manager, Rob Roy, and chief engineer, David Levy.
Soon after kicking hard Patrick Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen) joined ranks to play the mighty drums bringing a marvelous style and performance.
Claudio Pesavento (studio keys for Dokken / Jeff Beck / foreigner) who brought some furious melodies within his piano playing.
Stinging with Venomous bass playing style Ralph Rieckermann (Scorpions) joined this crusade and took over the low end.
Moving in full throttle, The band went into gear.
Daniel Trajtemberg “DANKER” (Rata Blanca / Mario Ian / Malon) captured the essence of this musical assembly and became the visual director, illustrator and photographer.
following destiny from shore to shore Mr Rooney moved across the mountains to build a recording studio within “BLACK GATES” upon the city of fallen angels in Los Angeles California, where the band writes, records and produces the entirety of its material.
The EP “Forsaken Spells” conjures up a compilation of legends and every day situations
masked in fantasy tales from long forgotten times.
Some of them rooted on real life characters from centuries ago.
Countless moons passed by in the making of this taster
bearing a previously unreleased Scorpion’s song (written by Ralph Rieckermann and Grace Sharington).
Now called “Hidden in the Winds” (lyrics and arraignments by Andy Rooney).
The following power ballad, “Soul Mates,” chronicles a man’s struggle to cope with the loss of his eternal lover & triumphantly finishing with the clincher of the trio, a thunderous call to battle aptly named “A War of Shadows.”
A determined engineer Dave Jenkins (Uli John Roth, Joe Lynn Turner, Matt Sorum, etc.)
mixed this Extended Play at The Wine Cellar Studios in California,
Then Brad Vance from Red Mastering (Ritchie Blackmore’s Night, Cannibal Corpse, Fates Warning) For the final tweaks, at the dawn of 2012.
Soon after Mr Jimmy Wiggle (Zakk Wylde, Eddy Van Halen, Slash) was in charge with tweaking and modifying the amplifiers heads that will be used on the full lenght album.
by May of 2014 – as one of the many guest in SPELLED MOON,
Bass player Chuck Wright (Quiet Riot, House of Lords, Impellitteri); records 2 songs with the band bringing great tasty licks to those tunes….
Nov of 2014 – Mr Joe Petro (Heaven and Earth / Randy Piper (W.A.S.P)) becomes the permanent bass player with whom recording sessions resume bringing to the band eccentric tones and licks with his many 8 Strings Basses. With a whole team and a strategy, SPELLED MOON keeps writing chapters for this story; SM plans for the full length album to be released really soon.
At the witching hour in times of sorcery we gather, under the light of a SPELLED MOON…
Andy Sarcone Rooney.

In case you may not have seen when browsing our website — we added four new types of Exotic picks to our guitar pick line this year! We now have two types of Jazz Exotic picks: Black Horn and Bone (same materials as the Bone and Horn picks that we already had, but in a new shape that is tailored specifically for increased attack and fast response that is needed when breaking out the jazz chords). We are also offering two entirely new materials: Paddock and Wedge Wood. Paddock picks are made for creating a warm, loud and earthy tone off of your strings, while the Wedge Woods are formulated to create a strikingly bright sound. To try out these new Exotic pick types, visit our site at http://www.steveclayton.com/exotics.php today!
Looking for a premium pick that will stand the test of time? ZZ-Zinc picks are a new Clayton item that was added to our product line this year! These picks are crafted out of genuine Zinc alloy metal. They are made for producing tones that are clear and high, along with punchy bass and unprecedented volume, due to their heavy mass/metal composition. These picks are popular amongst electric, acoustic and bass guitarists alike. To help maintain grip on the picks and prevent slipping since they are metal, we have added a matte finish and a reversed embedded epoxy logo. These are heavy-duty picks that are designed to last throughout years of guitar playing! They are available in both a 1.0mm and 2.0mm gauge. This week’s Pick of the Week was ordered by Clayton customer Tudor Adrian Negru. Tudor is a “previous guitar player in Romanian heavy-metal bands Refractara, Ronin and currently lead-guitar in a newly established band called Anomaly (http://www.facebook.com/anomalybandcluj). With the main influences of the band straying more into the hard-core/metal areas but with a taint of nu-metal and hard-rock, Anomaly tries to bring something unique to the musical scene in Cluj-Napoca and Romania. The band is currently working on writing material for their first demo album which should be finished by July 2012 and have already had several live performances along with some of the most well established and appreciated bands in the scene.
In order to bring that huge metal grind to the overall sound of the band, using heavier string gauges really does make a difference. Still, a common challenge that every guitar player in this genre faces is how to keep the tone tight and defined while also making it easier on yourself when playing heavy gauges.”
Tudor explains how he found Clayton picks: “Having being recommended Clayton USA and being handed a custom Clayton pick some time ago by one of the most established metal guitar players in the field, Balauru’ of Trooper, the search for that missing and much-needed element ended. It wasn’t long until I turned to have my own custom order with Steve Clayton USA. I find it that the Acetal 1.9 mm gauge suits my needs perfectly. The matte finish really keeps the pick where and how you need it to be while the material-gauge combination means that I can finally get that attack, control and tone definition that I was very much searching for even in the middle of a crazy live gig.”
“The custom layout features the above mentioned 1.9 mm Acetal standard shape but with the “Ronin” logo which stands for “one with no lord nor master” inspired by Japanese culture. The custom design was provided by established artist Paul Pantazescu (www.paulpantazescu.com) and in conjunction with Clayton craftsmanship it screams attitude, professionalism and strength.” To order your own custom guitar picks like Tudor’s, visit www.claytoncustom.com today!

We have another endorsed artist this week! This time it is for Patrick Vega! Patrick’s pick featured this week is printed on our Acetal material with a lovely colorful design. Patrick has ordered tons of different designs in the past from us, so he is quite the guitar pick designer. Our custom imprint department talks to Patrick quite often and they all really love him. Patrick showed the love back by doing a video all about Clayton picks! Which is totally awesome! Check it out below.
A little background on Patraick is that he is a player that is capable of great technique. In general though, he follows the unexpected, adventurous route rather than the (expected) technical/theory route. Alternate tunings, tasty leads and heavy but ambitious rhythm guitar parts that are accessible yet eclectic.
Patricks’s playing and songwriting displays a blend of vintage grace & modern rock/metal attitude. The music is influenced by acts such as Nine Inch Nails, Alice In Chains, Joe Satriani, The Cure, Rage Against The Machine, KoRn, Puddle Of Mudd, Seether, Tool, Classic Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, PJ Harvey, Tricky, Ozzy Osbourne, Vega’s former guitar teacher Brett Garsed and various movie soundtracks.
All I can say is Way Cool! Check out his website at: http://www.patrickvega.com

Eric Church is one of our endorsed artists and we just wanted to let you know he is one of country’s hardest working artists. We could say working a little bit too hard after last fall. While performing in New York, he was stomping so hard on stage that he hurt his ankle. He still finished the show and is ready to set the stage for his 2010 tour with our Clayton custom picks. Here are the picks you might get at one of his shows if you’re lucky. He’s already sold out for this Thursday’s show at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville. Church’s picks are the white pearl rounded triangle with the gauge at 1mm. The white delrin 1mm standard pick is another choice for Church. He has a top 10 hit with his song “Love Your Love the Most,”
one of his songs on his new Carolina album. Another big hit on the album is “Hell On the Heart.” Eric is a rising star that we are excited to follow this year. We look forward to supporting Eric Church during his 2010 tour.
If you are an artist that is also interested in becoming endorsed by us, you may mail us information regarding record label, band picture, tour schedule, and type of Clayton picks you use. There is a full list of information you can find through our contact information on our Steve Clayton website. Any questions you have for us you may email to email@example.com.
We have been getting lots of requests to put up pictures of our 2010 NAMM booth. I finally got around to getting them on here. We had a double decker booth this year with a lounge at the top. In addition we had 2 sound proof offices to conduct meetings in. As anyone who has ever been to NAMM knows, it is very loud! Without the sound proof rooms it can be quite impossible to get any business done, especially in Hall C were we are located.
Below are descriptions of each of the shows:
“Viva ELVIS®, a harmonious fusion of dance, acrobatics and live music, is a tribute to the life and music of Elvis Presley. Nostalgia, modernity and raw emotion provide the backdrop for his immortal voice and the exhilaration and beauty of his music.” Click to visit the Viva Elvis Site
“CRISS ANGEL® Believe™ will be a haunting exploration deep inside the inventive mind of mystifier Criss Angel as he hovers between the land of the living and a surreal world uniquely woven together by the distinctive imaginations of Criss Angel and Cirque du Soleil.” Click to visit the Chris Angel Believe Site
Every once in awhile when I am looking for something in my office I come across a custom pick we did from a long time ago. Just today I happened upon this Johnny Cash pick that we made. This exact pick is probably about 18 years old! Yes, very old. It is our Rounded Triangle Acetal (in Black) Johnny’s signature color, with his signature on it in white, gauge .50mm. Johnny loved our Acetal so much, but didn’t want it in white, so we had our Acetal material made in black just special for him. This pick is pretty hard to come by now a days because Johnny didn’t use them as his toss out picks. They are the true picks he played with and loved. I have often seen this pick go for over $100 on ebay. So if you ever come across this pick or already have it in your collection, It was made by Clayton! From what I know most other Johnny Cash picks are either newly made fakes, or were his toss out picks. Johnny ordered 1,000’s of picks from us until his passing in 2003. He actually ordered so often from us that we would pre-make the picks a head of time. So when Johnny passed we were left with about 2,000 of his printed picks that were made in advance. People who knew we made the pick have called and begged for at least one of them, but sorry we will not give or sell the picks. They were only meant for Johnny.
A loyal customer e-mailed us today asking about the difference between our Ultem pick and authentic Tortoiseshell picks. What a great question for today’s post. Most of you have probably never played with real tortoiseshell before. This is because it became illegal to produce/import tortoiseshell into the United States in 1947, which was before even I was born! A lot of guitar picks are made to have the appearance of tortoiseshell such as our cork-grip picks. However these are actually made of celluloid. Some people bring me some pretty convincing celluloid and tell me they have a true tortoiseshell pick, when almost always they don’t. Not sure if you have a real one or fake? Quickly rub the pick in-between cloth several times to create mild heat, if the picks starts to smell like camphor or vicks vabor rub, that is a celluloid plastic pick. They smell strong! Cow horn is also often passed off as tortoiseshell. If the pick is made out of cow horn then it will have a milky white appearance in parts of the pick.
People allude to the authentic tortoiseshell as the holy grail of picks… and are sought after. Well I have played many in my life-time and here are my thoughts on them. They sound nice, with a nice tone, but they break and sometimes even explode in your hand which is useless during a performance. Also the edges get rough. In my personal opinion, Ultem creates a much brighter, cleaner sound with better overtones, plus is much more durable. In the end when it comes to authentic tortoiseshell, I recommend saving your money and the turtles.
In a prior blog posting we mentioned that we recently have started endorsing James Otto. James and his management team were nice enough to let Patty McGrade (Sales Dept. at Clayton, Inc.) and her daughter Kathy go backstage for a Meet & Greet with James at his concert in Schaumburg, Illinois last night (April 16th). James and his team were so accommodating to them and we all really appreciate their kindness. You can see James’ Clayton picks in the picture at left in his mic stand. James uses the Clayton Acetal 1.00mm. His picks are custom imprinted and have the endorsed eagle on the back. If you didn’t read our prior post about James, please follow the links below to listen to him and find out more information about this amazing country performer.
We just recently endorsed the band A Dull Science out of California. They have a good blend of a punk/pop sound to them. With some really great lyrics, that everyone can relate to, like their song “Cheaters never prosper”. This song has some killer lyrics to it, with a catchy chorus that I couldn’t help singing along to while looking over their press kit. Even better these guys seem to have a sense of humor which is refreshing to see since some bands can be so serious as they get more famous :).
You can check A Dull Science out at the following links:
