Pick of the Week — Brothers N Arms

This week’s Pick of the Week is for the band Brothers N Arms. “Brothers N Arms is a Texas power trio that is tearing up the regional rock scene. Started in 2010 from a simple online ad, they have blown up to be one of Texas’ up-and-coming rock bands. Daniel and Jesse are the two members of the band who ‘wield these great custom made picks by Clayton USA.'”

“Brothers N Arms was conceived in central Texas when the Vines brothers got together to jam with bassist, Jesse James. The three realized from that first day that they had enough common ground musically to start a new project. As the weeks passed, the trio placed the framework for a powerful project that became known as Brothers N Arms. The sound of the group is a blend of influences that range from Metallica to POD, from Nirvana to Zeppelin.”

To learn more about Brothers N Arms, visit their site at: http://www.brothersnarms.net/!!

The Brothers N Arms picks were made on our white delrin pick material, and we love how it makes their intricate red and black logo really stand out! Order your own custom picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Pick of the Week — Woody Wright

Playing guitar since 1964, Woody discovered his love for musical performance at a very young age. So far, he has played with a variety of groups within several genres of music, but has more recently stuck to Gospel.  Since the fall of 2001, Woody has enjoyed occasionally touring with the Gaither Homecoming Concert crew. He says that it is such a joy to see the large arenas full of Gospel fans from coast to coast, and on other coasts! “The Homecoming Cruises have been phenomenal, and the London/Ireland trip was a blast.”

Woody writes about his current performances:

“From my first note of Will the Circle Be Unbroken at the Atlanta Homecoming to singing Because He Lives at the empty tomb in Jerusalem to hearing the fans in Johanesburg, South Africa call us all by our first names, being a Homecoming Friend has been an honor and a rare blessing. Plus, all the ladies in my Mother’s Sunday School class get to say ‘Betty, I saw Woody on TV last night!'”

To learn more about Woody’s extensive musical journey, visit his site at www.woodywright.net.

Woody’s picks were made on our ultem pick material. Ultem picks are known for producing a sound quality closest to a true tortoiseshell pick. Ultem picks can be printed with brown, black or red ink, and Woody made excellent use of all colors in his custom design. Order your own custom picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Kid-inspired

We had to feature this design for custom picks because the team at Clayton all loved it! It is a very youthful, colorful design with the catchphrase “Doin’ It My Way” and it reminded us that it is very important to encourage kids to pursue their musical interests! If you know a young person who is just starting to get interested in guitar playing, custom picks are a great way to get them extra excited about following their dreams! We can print all types of designs on picks, so you can even scan in a design that a child has created to really give that special touch that lets them know they are a rock star. The holidays are coming and custom picks are awesome stocking stuffers! Order your custom picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Pick of the Week — Zombie Suckers

Now that Halloween is upon us, we have the perfect Pick of the Week to feature!
“From the bottomless pit of monsters they came, climbing up to the surface of earth in August of 2007. They’ve been through a lot, they lost a lot of blood along the way forming what is now an extremely deadly combination of killer machines. With Alex E. Cute on vocals, Captain Morgue and ZZ on guitars, Crippler on the bass, Six Feet Unders on drums and the villain known as Dr. B. Careless on the percussion and sampler they form Sweden’s scariest horror-machine known as Zombiesuckers.

With the urge to play fierce and powerful horrorpunk they set their goal to conquer, scare and entertain the citizens of this planet. With a plan to fright, bite and fight their way to the top they create music with a lot of attitude, horror and large sense of humour making it a great combination of what any ear should expose itself to.

But beware, some people say their songs are so awesome they kill you while you sleep. So remember, only a headshot kills a zombie.”

Find out more about Zombiesuckers on their official websites:
www.zombiesuckers.com

The creepy cool Zombiesuckers picks were made on our white delrin guitar pick material, and we love the detail and colors of their horrorific artwork. Visit www.claytoncustom.com today to start creating your own electrifying custom picks!

Pick of the Week — Sixteen Candles

This week’s Pick of the Week was created for the band Sixteen Candles.
Band Bio: Established in 2003. 16 Candles makes it their personal duty and pleasure to bring all the great 80′s songs you love to life in full force. Their attention to detail and commitment to entertainment captivates audiences and inspires new ways of dancing and thinking (not to mention drinking). The members are 5 fun-loving guys with a simple love for the music of years gone by and a mission to fuse nostalgia and style to create a sight/sound spectacular unlike any other.
To learn more about Sixteen Candles, visit their sites:
website: www.sixteencandlesband.com
facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sixteencandlesband
twitter: http://twitter.com/16candlesband
The Sixteen Candles picks were made on our white pearl material. White pearl is always a good choice for supporting designs with a gradient, such as the green 16 Candles logo. The band also chose to have a rounded triangles shape for the picks. The rounded triangle is an over-sized pick shape, and allows for optimal design space. Pick of the Week — Lisa Matassa

This week’s Pick of the Week is for artist Lisa Matassa. Operatically trained as a child, and with a resonantly powerful pop voice, Lisa recorded two top-10 dance singles before she was 20. The songs were huge hits in the U.S. and abroad, earning her performing slots in concerts with such acts as Taylor Dayne, Brenda K. Starr and TKA. Born on Long Island, but raised in south Florida, Lisa had always loved singing along to records by Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash, and she realized more and more that country music was where her heart was. Capitalizing on country’s contemporary rock-tinged arrangements, Lisa found she could blend the natural heartfelt soul of country with her own stylized brand of New York edginess. She is now considered Long Island’s first bona fide country artist and has opened shows for Dierks Bentley, Leann Rimes, Thompson Square, Eric Church and, most recently, Ronnie Dunn at a “Vets Rock” concert at Brookhaven Amphitheatre in Farmingville, NY. Recently, Lisa was asked to sing the U.S. and Canadian anthems during the Delaware Ohio County Fair as part of the event’s prestigious Little Brown Jug harness racing event, which draws thousands of fans annually. As Lisa’s career gains momentum, and her new-release album Somebody’s Baby continues gathering national attention through digital downloads, streaming and radio programming, it’s a sure bet Long Island won’t be the only place where the name Lisa Matassa generates real excitement in country music.

Lisa Matassa’s custom guitar picks were made on our white pearl material. The white pearl is perfect for the gradient quality of her red-orang-yellow logo, and gives the graphic a 3-D appearence.

Creative Wedding Picks

Today we wanted to show off some of the creative wedding guitar picks designs that our customers have created! Custom wedding picks have become a very popular item, and they are used as favors, decorations, gifts, thank-you’s and announcements! Let your creativity loose by creating a really unique design like those shown below:

To the far left, the pick design mimics the opening title of The Simpsons TV show, but of course is replaced by the couple’s last name. This is a full bleed design on our acetal material guitar picks. For the middle pick, the couple chose to use a caricature of themselves (also full bleed art on acetal material). For the pick on the far right, the design is a very pretty bird and anchor graphic, and on the back of the picks is printed the couple’s names, their wedding date, and the the phrase “Flying High and Steady.” These were done on our white pearl picks, which helps to showcase the beautiful colors of the graphic and gives the picks a very classy “wedding look.”

Because of the popularity of wedding guitar picks, we have made a new website specifically to share designs and ideas; www.customweddingpicks.com. You can contact us directly with questions regarding wedding picks or how to order at weddingpicks@steveclayton.com and we will be happy to assist you. We would also love to feature more ideas on our site, so if you are interested please let us know!

Pick of the Week — Strip the Stars

This week’s Pick of the Week is for the band Strip the Stars. Formed in Denver in late 2010, Strip the Stars brings together fellow musicians David Frisbie on vocals, Brett Walston on guitar, Miles Marlin on bass, and Leo Zayas on drums. Drawing comparisons to Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, and Alice in Chains, the full shake-you-to-your-bones sound of this quartet puts the fire in your belly and the roar in your speakers. It only took a few hours of jamming together for STS to discover the formula for their own brand of purebred hook-driven rock. Not content to wear out the same old local dives and wait for fate’s knock on the door, Strip the Stars is shredding through new mediums and conventions focusing their attention on the bigger picture. Strip the Stars is a band that will not be denied. STS’ 9-song debut release is sure to win fans and make it’s mark on the Front Range and beyond. The album was recorded and engineered by David Frisbie at Audiopurple Studios in Denver, CO and mixed and mastered at Progression Lab Studios in San Antonio, TX by Cult To Follow and former Union Underground frontman Bryan Scott. With full throttle guitar riffs, aggressive drums, melodic bass lines and soaring vocal melodies, Strip the Stars aims to keep the snarl in the razor-sharp grin of hard rock.

www.facebook.com/pages/Strip-The-Stars/198862790163775
www.reverbnation.com/stripthestars

https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/stripthestars

The Strip the Stars picks were made on our white delrin guitar pick material, using a full bleed (meaning that the design goes all the way to the edge of the picks instead of having a border). We loved the colors and detail of their design! To order your own custom picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com!

Colored Pearl Custom Picks

Are you looking for a custom guitar pick in a color that perfectly fits your design? Try out our colored pearl picks! Shown below is an example of how a customer fit their design together with the colored pearl pick option:

The customer had the text “Hot Copper,” and they chose a flame graphic from our clip art library. Then, they chose a copper color for the picks so that all elements of the design go together!

Our colored pearl picks are the same celluloid material as the white pearl picks, but they can be custom color matched in addition to having a custom design printed on them. When you place your order, there is a full color palette to allow for the color choice for the picks. This is a great option if our other picks don’t come in the exact color you are looking for. Also, colored pearl picks are wonderful for weddings since they can be matched to specific wedding colors!

Design and order your own custom colored pearl guitar picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!

Pick of the Week — Rob “Fixxxman” Hendrikse

This week’s Pick of the Week was made for musician Rob Hendrikse. Rob is a member of a few different bands, including Defense, Lucky Faces and Rough ‘n Ready. For Defense, Rob already got a lot of different picks, so he thought it would be a good idea to design new ones for Lucky Faces and Rough ‘n Ready combined with his own artist name; Fixxxman. Lucky Faces is the acoustic version of Defense and Rough ‘n Ready. Lucky Faces is an acoustic duo (Rob’s girlfriend and himself) occasionally joined by a drummer and a bass player, (which are the other members of their newly formed classic rock band Rough ‘n Ready). The bands that Rob is involved with do covers of classic rock songs and they play them with a twist in their very own, unique style.
As Fixxxman, Rob does more singer/songwriter stuff and writes his own material as well.
The bands do a lot of shows throughout the Netherlands at festivals, parties and in a lot of live-music-supporting venues.
In March of 2012, Rob participated in the release of a non-profit CD- ‘29 Years, 29 Songs’- to honor his dear friend Saz, who died at the age of 29 in 2004, due to cancer. The CD was released to collect funds for a charity that makes the lives of kids with terminal diseases a little more bearable. 32 artists from The Netherlands, Australia, USA, Great Britain, Scotland and Spain participated, and all donated a song for the cause. A few names: Popa Chubby (USA), Michael Katon (USA), The Wildcards (GB), Hook Herrera (USA), Rob Tognoni (Aus), Julian Sas, Rob Orlemans and many others.
Rob also wrote and recorded a song for this album; “The Long Road.” It was recorded with the band Defense, and they were joined by the Dutch Blues Artist Rob Orlemans on Lead Guitar.
At the moment they have already sold 1000 copies of the double CD and they are planning to relaease part 2 in March 2013. A lot of major (blues) artists have already agreed to participate on part 2. Danny Bryant, Jon Amor Band, Jim Schuler, The Ori Naftaly Blues Band (Israel), 16 Dollars, Rough ‘n Ready and many more.
All about the CD can be found on http://www.stichtingsaz.nl

This week’s Pick of the Week was made for the band Way Cool Jr., an 80’s rock tribute act that is based in Southern California. They have performed alongside many great bands such as Guns ‘n’ Roses, Blue Oyster Cult, Steppenwolf,  Bad Company, etc. They replicate the energy and look of the 80’s in its most decadent form! The member of the band who ordered the guitar picks from Clayton is Phi Nguyen. He was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the United States during a time of strife in his home country. He was given his 1st guitar  at the age of 13 after his father passed away and he never stopped playing from that day on. He idolized Kiss and emulated them. Pick of the Week — The Tom Dixon Band

This week’s Pick of the Week was made for Tom Dixon of The Tom Dixon Band.

“Tom Dixon is an award winning vocalist and entertainer who, like many other performers, got his start in music singing in the church choir. He was born on a small farm in Tewksbury, MA and moved to New Hampshire in the 1st grade. Tom always knew he wanted to be a singer. He spent his younger days singing along to old Kenny Rodgers tapes that his father would play. Tom experimented with many different genres of music from rock and country to even R & B.  In the end, you just can’t take the country out of the boy. After watching the “Garth Brooks LIVE from Central Park” video he declared, “I am going to do that!” This was the beginning of what has become one of New England’s hottest country bands.

Tom had taken guitar lessons at a very young age, but put it down for many years. In college he decided to pick it up again and the moment he learned a few chords he was itching to learn how to write music and start a band. Tom gathered up a few band members and they started to work on honing their craft. Tom made sure that they spent months down in the basement learning the tunes and making sure they were tight.  Tom didn’t want to just play in a band, he wanted to put on a show.  When they finally starting booking gigs there was no stopping the them! Tom has continued to hone his craft as a vocalist, songwriter, entertainer and guitarist.  He was named the NHCMA “Male Vocalist of The Year” in 2005, “Duo of the Year” 2006 with his friend Jodie Cunningham and most recently the 2011 New England Country Music Organization’s (NECMO) Entertainer of The Year.

Tom has continued to work on his song writing skills and has played several writers nights and open mics in Nashville, TN at places such as the legendary Blue Bird Cafe. Tom pulls influences from such artists as:  Gary Allan, Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, Jason Aldean and legends like Johhny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.  Tom is determined and will not let go of the dream. With the band that they have built, he has had an opportunity to open for artists such as:  Alan Jackson, The Zac Brown Band, Sugarland, Phil Vassar & Dusty Drake.  Tom and the band will also be opening for Eric Church in August of 2012.”

About The Tom Dixon Band:

“With a unique combination of smooth country vocals and an explosive live performance, The Tom Dixon Band has given birth to a new way of delivering that sweet country sound, with a heartpumping, foot-stomping beat that can only be viewed as a bit spicy, smooth, southern country rock. In 2012 The Tom Dixon Band is  touring the east coast from Maine to Virginia.  Since forming in 2005, The band’s every performance commands the stage and draws the excitement and rapt enthusiasm of their audience. They have captivated audiences in a multitude of venues by keeping their focus on bringing the most up-to-date and entertaining show possible. The Tom Dixon Band has been invited to perform in many high profile venues where they deliver the opening performance for such notable acts as Alan Jackson, The Zac Brown Band, Sugarland, Phil Vassar, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kip Moore and Dusty Drake as well as live back-up vocals & rhythm guitar for Nashville’s own Crossin’ Dixon. The band has been included in shows for 97.5 WOKQ (Dover, NH) on numerous occasions including 7 years in a row for the WOKQ Countryfest at Prescott Park in Portsmouth, NH. Pick of the Week — Off The Turnpike

This week’s Pick of the Week was created by Christian Vasquez of Off The Turnpike.

“Since 2011, Off The Turnpike has made it their mission to wake up New York’s long dormant rock scene with a powerful and diverse sound all their own. The band’s hard rock roots are tempered with an emphasis on melody, grooves and the unexpected. From Andy Sexton’s soulful and commanding vocals, to Christian Vasquez’s driving guitars and the beastly rhythm section of bassist Shawn Abraham and drummer Steve Kurlat, Off The Turnpike is here to confound expectations and electrify fans of raw, honest, and uncompromising music. Drawing inspiration from music of all genres and fusing it into a cohesive and powerful mix, Off The Turnpike is blazing forward in surprising new directions. With the release of their self produced self-titled debut album, the band is pushing their music beyond New York and bring the news of rock’s revival to the hungry masses. You’re not ready. But they are.”

Off The Turnpike has been together for little over two years; Christian started the band with Shawn Abraham (bass).   On August 25th they will be celebrating their one year anniversary of playing live shows with a live show at Fontana’s NYC.  Their most recent achievement was the release of their debut album on June 19 of this year.
