Pick of the Week, The Ray Johnston Band

This week we selected a bright orange delrin pick by The Ray Johnston Band for Pick of the week.  Our colored delrin picks can only be printed with black ink, but they sure can get an audiences attention! The band also ordered their design on our yellow delrin and pearl celluloid picks. You may have noticed we did a blog earlier about this band, here. They are a true inspiration!  This pick was created to help Ray Johnston promote a new web series featuring him.  Below is the synopsis of the program by HDNet: “HDNet is proud to introduce a new series presenting the journey of cancer survivor and former Dallas Maverick Ray Johnston and his band as they travel across the country trying to make it in the music business. The band’s journey is only a part of the story, however. The larger part of this behind-the-scenes series is the uplifting story of the band’s leader, Ray Johnston and his heroic battle with leukemia. While still trying to beat the disease, he is pursuing a new dream, traveling across country with The Ray Johnston Band. Some of the band’s performances will be fundraisers for The Ryan Gibson Foundation or TRGF.TRGF (www.trgf.org) is a Dallas based non-profit organization that supports leukemia research throughout the U.S. Ryan Gibson, like Ray Johnston, had a passion for finding a cure for leukemia. Now, through the talent of he and his band, Ray will be spreading the word about the importance of leukemia research as well as raising funds for TRGF.”

The series premieres on April 25th, 8pm eastern, so make sure to watch his inspirational journey only on HDNet. Or visit his website at: http://www.rayjohnstonband.com/

Supporting Music Makes Music from Steve Clayton

Music Makes Music “MMM” is a non-profit organization that goes to schools to perform and educate students about the importance of music.   MMM inspires students to get involved with music which in then impacts students interest levels to finish their education.  Schools that have a music program are seeing higher attendance and graduation rates.  A 2006 Harris poll, showed that schools who have a music program are getting 97% of students to attend and graduate versus 72.9% for schools without a music program.  Karen Zgonc, the VP of Marketing and Development, contacted us and we are excited to work with them.  Here are the picks we have created for them.  If you would like to support the Music Makes Music organization you may go to their website musicmakesmusic.org

Pick of the Week, Dylan Duncan

This week we selected a beautiful pencil sketch that we reproduced on our Acetal guitar picks by Dylan Duncan.  Dylan explained the purpose of the bicycle on his pick to us below: “The bicycle art and Bicycle on the Ice song on the record, is inspired by an old photograph taken in 1962 by my dad in Vermont. It’s a great photo of a bicycle alone on an iced over lake and the feeling I got from the picture seemed to take on a whole new meaning that related to my own life. At the time I was feeling like I didn’t belong where I was currently living and so when I stumbled upon the lone bicycle on the ice, I realized it, too, didn’t belong where it was. I felt the need to write about it and it became one of the central themes and inspired the album artwork, including corresponding materials like
buttons and these guitar picks.
”  We thought this was an amazing way to let your music be inspired, even by the most unexpected things. Dylan has an album set to be released this summer called What To Keep & Let Go.  He currently has a great blog that you can follow while he creates his album located at: http://www.dylanduncan.com/whattokeep

Pick of the Week, Foo Fighters

Our pick of the week for the first week of April is the Foo Fighters pick! We have been making picks for the Foo Fighters for a number of years.  They always come up with some really neat design ideas, ranging from drawings of their kids, or one of my favorites is glossy black ink of a bomb on a dark charcoal matte pick. We had never thought of trying that, but it turned out very cool looking when they made those. You can see those picks on Dave Grohl’s mic stand in the picture below.  This week we are featuring one of their newest designs, which has their Foo Fighter logo on it in Red and Blue.  The back of the picks have XXX on it in different colors. We thought this was a really classic design and wanted to feature it.  These pick are printed on our Acetal Rounded Triangle 1.00mm.  Acetal is the pick most of our big name bands use. It has a great sound, and holds up without breaking during their long performances. It is a true Professional players pick. You can see more of their picks in our blog here.

The members currently are Jimmy Roberts (vocals), Angel Alvarez and Justin Bullen (drums/percussion), Kevin Kaufman (lead guitarist), and Brandon Cregan (rhythm guitar). Pick of the Week, Todd Simpson and Mojo Child

This week we selected a good example of a pick on our Ultem material. We love this pick, because it uses all kind of different shades of brown on it.  Ultem can only be imprinted with either brown, red or black. These colors look best with its Amber hue.  Todd Simpson is a very accomplished musician.  He has shared the state with the Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Huey Lewis,Paul Thorn and Phil Lesh and friends. Todd plays blues combined with a southern rock vibe.  He even recently preformed at the Whiskey A Go Go in L.A.  For more information on Todd and his high energy band check out the website: www.toddsimpsonandmojochild.com.

New Endorsed Artists, This Providence kicks off “Bout Damn Time Tour”

We are excited to announce today about the new endorsed artists from the band “This Providence.” The band was formed in 2003 in Seattle, WA. They have three albums, Our Worlds Divorce, This Providence, and the newly acclaimed “Who Are You Now?” which just came out March 17th.  The new album features the hit “Letdown” which is in the video below. Daniel Young commented on how important it was to take all last year to produce the new album “Who Are You Now” by saying “We took a long time off the road before going into the studio because we wanted to write songs that were dripping with creativity and you can’t rush that,” Young explains, “I think the end result is much stronger because of that.” The album has a lot of energy and we are looking forward to following them this year. The band members play with our acetal .63mm rounded triangle picks and our 1.0mm standard shape acetal picks. They are less than 5 days away from kicking off their headling Bout Damn Time Tour featuring TheAudition, Anarbor, The Bigger Lights, and Artist Vs. Poet. From NBA to Music “The Ray Johnston Band”

Ray Johnston has a story we all should hear about.  He has gone from the NBA to his band now”The Ray Johnston Band”  The video below gives you an inspiring story of how one person continues to live his dreams even when the toughest obstacles can come along.  Ray was a former Dallas Mavericks NBA player that had to walk away from the NBA due to unexpected leukemia.  He bounced back after going through a coma and many days being in the hospital.  Jason Mraz said, ” When you listen to music…ahh yeah the person gets me…they know what it’s about and your now one of those guys.”  This Jason claims about Ray Johnston’s music.  He likes to use our popular acetal .63mm guitar picks and we will show his new picks once we finish them this week.  It is our pleasure to support such an inspiring musician and we look forward to following The Ray Johnston Band throughout the year.  For upcoming shows and more information you may go to these links www.rayjohnstonband.com, http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sweet-tooth/id327952492

Here at Clayton, Inc. we have noticed that many people choose Clayton custom picks to add a little flare to their wedding receptions. Some picks simply include the name of the couple and

the date, while others choose to add matrimonial graphics. We even have a special section in our online custom designer that has images specifically for wedding picks. More durable than anything printed on paper, the custom wedding picks are the perfect favors to give out that will help your guests remember your special day. Shown here are a few examples of the wedding

picks that we love, printed on white delrin and acetal. Also, our own employee Rob chose to design picks for his brother’s wedding (shown at right on light blue pearl)and he says that his brother and sister-in-law

both loved the picks and appreciated the originality of the idea. If you are looking for a fun addition to your wedding, consider custom picks from Clayton!

Clayton Custom Pick of the Week!

This week we selected Erich Church’s pick for our pick of the week. Eric is a very acclaimed American country music singer and songwriter.  In 2006 he released his debut album Sinners Like Me.  That album produced an amazing total of four chart singles on the Billboard country charts, including the Top 20 hits “How ‘Bout You,” “Two Pink Lines” and “Guys Like Me.” His second album, 2009’s Carolina, has produced two more singles: “Love Your Love the Most,” his first Top Ten hit, and “Hell on the Heart.”  Eric is also one of our Endorsed artists and uses our Delrin standard 1.00mm. However this week he ordered some of our Rounded Triangle Pearl Celluloid picks to try out. Our pearl picks are great for promotion since they have a beautiful mother of pearl look to them.  People can see them very easily when thrown off stage. We love Eric’s roughed up styled logo in black.  Not shown, is our Eagle logo on the back of his picks.  If you want to become an endorsed artist like Eric please click here for details.  To find out more about Eric Church click below:

Clayton Custom Pick of the Week!

Here at Clayton, Inc, we have decided to feature a custom pick each week from now forward! We think this is a great way to showcase many of the great picks we make for bands every day.  Keep checking in each week to see a new featured pick and band from us.

This week we selected a pick we made for the Nancy Kenyon Band.  We loved how colorful and detailed this pick turned out on our white delrin .80mm material. It is a great example that shows what amazing detail and color we can produce onto a guitar pick.  We also enhanced this pick by using glossy ink to really make the graphic “pop” on the pick. We had a great time learning more about Nancy Kenyon and her high energy female country style.   She has been doing acoustic style shows for over 15 years! Now within the past few years she has a full band and is starting to do big venues. Her next notable show will be at Jillian’s in Albany, NY, which will be an after party for Carrie Underwood’s Albany concert.  It begins at 11pm if any of you are interested in seeing this amazing band! Eric Church 2010 Tour Picks

Eric Church is one of our endorsed artists and we just wanted to let you know he is one of country’s hardest working artists. We could say working a little bit too hard after last fall.   While performing in New York, he was stomping so hard on stage that he hurt his ankle. He still finished the show and is ready to set the stage for his 2010 tour with our Clayton custom picks. Here are the picks you might get at one of his shows if you’re lucky. He’s already sold out for this Thursday’s show at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.  Church’s picks are the white pearl rounded triangle with the gauge at 1mm.  The white delrin 1mm standard pick is another choice for Church. He has a top 10 hit with his song “Love Your Love the Most,”
one of his songs on his new Carolina album. Another big hit on the album is “Hell On the Heart.” Eric is a rising star that we are excited to follow this year. We look forward to supporting Eric Church during his 2010 tour.

If you are an artist that is also interested in becoming endorsed by us, you may mail us information regarding record label, band picture, tour schedule, and type of Clayton picks you use. We shipped out a whole lot of picks today for York Region Transit, which is a transportation system up in Canada.  They are holding a contest that supports their local bands. Which we thought was so cool of them to do within their community.   The pick material is a custom blue color to match their logo. We do a lot of custom pick material coloring for our large clients.  To learn more about the contest go to their site at: http://www.yorkregiontransit.com/

Angry Shadow

Fans be sure to check out the new endorsed artist Angry Shadow.  Here is a clip for you to enjoy .  While I checked out the bands website I found one video you’ll have to see for yourself called “The Eruption by Bryan G. Pictures of our NAMM booth

We have been getting lots of requests to put up pictures of our 2010 NAMM booth. I finally got around to getting them on here.  We had a double decker booth this year with a lounge at the top.  In addition we had 2 sound proof offices to conduct meetings in. As anyone who has ever been to NAMM knows, it is very loud! Without the sound proof rooms it can be quite impossible to get any business done, especially in Hall C were we are located.

Kyle Gass just won’t Rest until Clayton is the Best!

After 3 hours of signing autographs at the Clayton booth at NAMM 2010, Kyle had a few words to say about his favorite pick company.

Brotherhood of the Lake

We received another set of contracts back from Glasstone Records, this one is for the band Brotherhood of the Lake. They are located in Plymouth, United l_ebf6f56f712645668d2a3417adf339dbKingdom. This band is considered metal/rock/hardcore. While listening to their press kit I definitely got the idea that they were a heavy metal band. Which it was great to hear for a change, since we’ve been receiving mostly rock/punk/country press kits lately, which of course is just as great! We like variety around here, music is music, right? We are more then interested in reviewing all stages of bands, and in endorsing new bands. If you are interested in an endorsement and use our products you can mail us a press kit to:

Serving our Country – American Hotties and Camo Picks

amer_high_res

This week my brother-in-law was called to duty over in Iraq. As of today he has arrived into Iraq safely and will be there for the next year. 10% off Through April 30th

In case you missed out on our newsletter, we are currently offering a 10% discount custom orders placed through April 30th.blog1 Just use the promotional code APRL09 to get 10% when checking out. This week we’ve had quite a variety of different custom picks. Here are few we did this week. We’ve been making the Helmet guitar picks for guitarist Page Hamilton for years now on our Acetal Rounded Triangle 1.52 and he just recently ordered more. The brighter colors that were printed on the pearl really look amazing and stand on out well even though the pick itself is so colorful. If you are looking to have a bright color printed we would suggest getting the pearl as the colors almost always turn out looking amazing on this pick. It really shows that black isn’t the only color that looks good on the pearl :). I actually spoke to the customer who ordered the pirate pick and we had a hard time choosing between Acetal or White Delrin. After discussing the differences between the two he chose White Delrin, and I couldn’t agree more with his decision. It turned out stunning! The sketch of the couple is also imprinted on White Delrin.
