Guns out at Sundown

Guns Out At Sundown is a band based out of Western Maryland, finding its beginnings in 2007 with the name LenorAstray. Original line-up included: Jamie Peterson-bass/lead vox, Mike Dennis-guitar, Nathaniel Raley-guitar, and Trav Hensley- drums. Shortly after, we introduced long-time, childhood friend Christopher Tepper to drums, and moved Trav to lead vocals. After many discussions, and a drive for more, the band changed its genre to create a heavier sound. In 2008, Nick Miller joined the band to fill the position of guitarist, but left the band after recording our first professional demo. In 2009, we added Ryan Crosco to the roster. The band recorded its full-length album entitled, “The Comfort In Chaos”with Johnny Burke at Chin Music Studios in Cleveland, Ohio (www.reverbnation.com/vibestudios) in November of that year, but due to a few personal issues, the band took hiatus, planning to return stronger than ever once our lives were back on track. In early 2011, Ryan Crosco decided to leave the band, with Nick Miller rejoining and filling the slot. Now, with a new name, and our final puzzle piece, Andrew Hill on bass, we’re back. Look for the album to release independently soon, along with a music video with FBS Films, and brand new merch.

Billy Sidwell

Born and raised in a small town in southern illinois , Billy Sidwell has spent his entire life exposed to music. After seeing country singer Randy Travis perform at just 5 years old Billy knew that he wanted to be up on that stage. During his teenage years Billy played electric/bass guitar in several different rock bands and to this day he is still heavily influenced by all genres of music ranging from Bluegrass to Metal . After the breakup of his rock band in 2001 he took a long break from writing/playing music then in 2004 billy met & married the love of his life and together they share 4 beautiful children . In 2009 Billy made his return to the music world when he wrote a song called ‘ Battlescars ‘ the song was a true story written about his own childhood growing up from a broken home he then shared his lyrics on facebook with a few friends and soon realized that so many people out there could relate to his words . through word of mouth and self promotion he has obtained nearly 4,000 loyal fans that call themselves ” The B.S Army ” and he has did all of this with no radio airplay or backing from a record label. Billy Recently went into the studio and recorded a 3 song acoustic demo cd called ‘ Battlescars ‘ which is a written reflection of his childhood .What makes Billy Sidwell stand out the most are his lyrics. As you hear them you feel the experience and emotions behind them. These words invoke images that are so clear, so vivid, you feel as though you are right there experiencing them with him.

Geno Carlson of Wild Colonial Bhoys

Geno was no more than 3 years old when he saw someone on TV playing a guitar. That was it! Geno knew then and there what he was going to do. By the time he was ready for his first guitar (at age 7), he had saved up enough money to buy it himself. The 3/4 scale Anjo acoustic guitar that cost $100 all those years ago has led this Canuck to a passion for fun, energetic Celtic Rock that Rocks! Geno plays guitar in the band Wild Colonial Bhoys. Started in 2003 as a pub duo by Geno Carlson and Adam Coolong, this band has become a five-piece celtic rock powerhouse featured promenantly at Irish festivals throughout the Midwest.  They’ve performed with such bands as the Young Dubliners, Gaelic Storm, and Flogging Molly.

Forerunner

In 2001 the band FORERUNNER was formed with a purpose of applying a message of Holiness threaded throughout the original God inspired lyrics blended with a solid musical progressive rock sound. Ryan Adkins, The lead vocalist and Lead guitarist, along with the band, stepped into the recording studio in the spring of 2002 intent upon laying down tracks that would be true to an era of simplicity and the solid sound of the live unhindered music. Twelve continuous hours of work spawned their first album entitled “Etched In Stone.” This record is not the typical, but ten songs done virtually in one take, and some of which, mirroring the so called “long songs” of rock and rolls past at over seven minutes in length. The ministry of the group has spent time all across the state, and surrounding states, at youth functions, church services, and festivals pouring themselves out in obedience to God’s call. The connection produced from the mixture of these two languages of theology and melody has experienced many transformed lives for the kingdom of God and many more to come. Ryan Adkins is originally from Magnolia, Ohio, near Canton, where he has been involved in a variety of eleven different bands in eighteen years. He has written and produced most of the music they perform and is a graduate of Ohio Christian University having received a degree in Christian Ministries and Music. He received a Masters in Divinity from Wesley Biblical Seminary. Also, Ryan is ordained through the Churches of Christ in Christian Union. Jeff Lutz is the Percussionist and also sings back up vocals. From Lancaster, Ohio, he has impacted the group with his classic rock style and successful arrangements. He has played drums guitar and bass for a combined more than 20 years.  Brian Sponseller is originally from North Canton, Ohio. He received a BA in Christian Ministry from Ohio Christian University in 2002. In 2006 he completed a Masters in Divinity from Wesley Biblical Seminary and was ordained in the Churches of Christ in Christian Union. His rhythmic hooks and intensive lead-work lay a foundation for the group€™s originality. In addition to the guitar work, he provides a high tenor harmony to help complete FORERUNNER. Mike Culp, the newest bass player of Forerunner joined the group in November 2007. Born in Dayton, OH, Mike’s family moved to Circleville in 1992. He graduated from Circleville High School in 2002 with Marching/Concert Band being his favorite course. He then went on to study Christian Ministry and Psychology at the Circleville Bible College now known as the Ohio Christian University. He is licensed by the Church of Christ in Christian Union and is called to preach. He is a vital part of the ministry at Praise Memorial Church and is an active member of the Ohio Air National Guard. He hopes to have many long years working with the band Forerunner and spreading God’s word to the younger generation through their music. The group has extended its abilities with the opening of Forerunner Recording Studio. You can check out several demos from this album at the links listed below. FORERUNNER has begun scheduling dates to promote this upcoming project.

In Bloom

Hailing from Portland, OR in the great northwest, In Bloom is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. With influences from Jimmy Eat World and U2, to Leonard Cohen and The Beatles, In Bloom puts it all together in a punk/indie infused power-pop sound that screams heart, honesty and energy. Timothy Reed (Wheelchair Renegades), Tony Robles (Alter Ego), Max Hampton and DJ Eickhoff have come together and created something completely original in today’s segregated and sub-genred world of rock.

Though In Bloom is new to the scene, its members have being paying their road dues for years, touring on the east and west coastlines. Timothy Reed booked and orchestrated years of west coast D.I.Y. tours with previous bands.

No matter the direction In Bloom’s music takes them, they show absolutely no fear and a relentless passion to reach people. No one said honesty was easy, but In Bloom has found it’s the only recipe for success.

Pick of the Week – Stephanie & THREE

We have a really cool picks and a really cool band this week! This lovely pick is by the band Stephanie & THREE, which is local to Clayton, Inc. here in Southern Oregon. I love the shades of pink on the pick, and the design is just way to cool! Stephanie & THREE is an aggressive Rock ‘n’ Power-Pop Trio, that plays in clubs and venues throughout the Northwest.  We always love seeing local bands being successful. I posted a video below so that you can really see how awesome this band is!  Make sure to check out their website to find out where you can catch their next performance. www.threemusic.net

Pick of the Week – Patrick Vega

We have another endorsed artist this week! This time it is for Patrick Vega! Patrick’s pick featured this week is printed on our Acetal material with a lovely colorful design.  Patrick has ordered tons of different designs in the past from us, so he is quite the guitar pick designer. Our custom imprint department talks to Patrick quite often and they all really love him.  Patrick showed the love back by doing a video all about Clayton picks! Which is totally awesome! Check it out below.

A little background on Patraick is that he is a player that is capable of great technique. In general though, he follows the unexpected, adventurous route rather than the (expected) technical/theory route. Alternate tunings, tasty leads and heavy but ambitious rhythm guitar parts that are accessible yet eclectic.

Patricks’s playing and songwriting displays a blend of vintage grace & modern rock/metal attitude. The music is influenced by acts such as Nine Inch Nails, Alice In Chains, Joe Satriani, The Cure, Rage Against The Machine, KoRn, Puddle Of Mudd, Seether, Tool, Classic Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, PJ Harvey, Tricky, Ozzy Osbourne, Vega’s former guitar teacher Brett Garsed and various movie soundtracks.

All I can say is Way Cool! Check out his website at: http://www.patrickvega.com

Pick of the Week – Eldebrock

This week we have a different style of pick.  This is a full black overbleed on our Acetal material.  It looks like a black pick, but it actually is white on the other side.  This is a great option because you get the look of a black pick, but it is printed on our popular Acetal material.  We really loved Eldebrock’s design, plus they are an endorsed band here at Clayton. They have a very cool website at: www.eldebrock.net. Really, it is quite impressive there is some amazing flash animation on their site.  They currently have just released their debut album, which can be downloaded on iTunes. Their music is really unique, and they have clips of it on their website, so make sure to listen.  The band Eldebrock took shape in the early spring of 2009 when founding member, Del Bannerman(rhythm guitar), along with Richard Lalonde (bass guitar), recruited Jay Wegenast from Vancouver B.C. as the lead singer. The spring and summer of 2009 was spent in a small town in Saskatchewan writing the music for the debut album. Barrett Moore (lead guitar), who grew up with Jay in Forestburg, Alberta joined in late 2009 adding his own touch of Zakk Wylde and Slash influenced lead guitar to the tracks that finished off the sound they were going for.

With Halloween coming up at the end of this week, we couldn’t help but select this fun pick!  This pick is printed on our Acetal material. We love the skull with the top hat and bow.  Plus we love the pattern of pink polka dots! Such a creative mix of unique elements. This pick was designed by the band Dead ‘Til Friday. They are a five member band that does both cover and original Rock -n- Roll, based in South Florida. Here is a little blurb about them:  “Dead ‘Til Fridays’ live shows include an up-beat mix of classic to current hits – from pop to rock to R&B – that are fun, danceable and include some the best songs of all time. His custom picks which are featured here are printed on our Acetal 1.52mm material. We really love the colorful design he chose! Mathias is one busy guy! He is a singer, songwriter, actor and model. Mathias was born in Puyallup, WA (as a side note he wrote this on his myspace which some of us found hilarious “sorry girls, that’s nowhere near Forks, home to another famous, but immortal teen…”). His first single “Shine On” is featured on KIDZ BOP 17. Mathias also landed the role of Colin—the male lead in the upcoming TeenNick movie, “School Gyrls”—co-starring Justin Bieber, Kristinia DeBarge and Soulja Boy.

Pick of the Week, El Cheapo

El Cheapo is a rock & roll cover band from Atlanta, GA fronted by “Stuff You Should Know” podcast host Chuck Bryant. They’ve been known to tear apart a basement or two and wake the neighbors in the name of a good time. After years of working day jobs, getting married and having babies, the band formed in 2007 under the original name The Cox Project. After toiling away for a year without a rhythm section, lead guitarist Eddie Cooper, bassist Chris Cox and Bryant landed a score in drummer Jim Issa, and El Cheapo was born.

The guys use Fender and Gibson guitars and amps, and Tama drums. Their original Steve Clayton pick was inspired by their loud, fast and nasty brand of rock & roll, and love of cheap beer. They can be found in various basements playing for their pet dogs, or rocking the house of 40th birthday parties around Atlanta.

Pick of the Week, Bon Journey

This week we are featuing an amazing pick done on our white pearl celluloid picks.  This is a multi-color imprint with an overbleed print. It is hard to see in the picture, but we use transparent colors on our pearl picks, so you can still see the pearl pattern behind the ink.  It makes the image look almost like stained glass. This pick is for one of our newly endorsed bands, Bon Journey. Bon Journey is a Bon Jovi, and Journey Tribute band. They are awesome. They even won best of Pittsburgh! To find out more information about Bon Journey visit their website at: http://www.thebonjourneyshow.com Don’t forget to check out a video of them below:

Ultem Picks, #1 In Customer Ratings

The ultem picks are my personal favorite guitar pick to play with.  These picks are great because they provide a good grip and are a strong durable material.  They also provide an appealing transparent look.  Just recently we had mentioned about how on our Musician’s Friend’s website the Steve Clayton ultem standard guitar picks are ranked first in customer ratings.  I personally prefer to play my acoustic guitar with the ultem picks as it provides consistent tone and volume.  Recently I have noticed some excellent art work on our ultem guitar picks as pictured.  If you are ordering your ultem custom picks make sure to let us know what color ink you would like.  It does not cost more to put our red, brown and black ink on the ultem pick.  If you haven’t tried our ultem picks out yet, you are definitely missing out.  Place your order today and have fun with our custom ultem guitar picks!   Just go to steveclayton.com and click on clayton custom.

Pick of the Week, The Rick Copus Band

This week we are featuring a full color Acetal pick, by the Rick Copus Band.  We loved the shading of the blue and black in this custom guitar pick.

“The Rick Copus Band formed in the summer of 2008. A group of professional musicians working and playing in bands and various worship teams in Bakersfield formed to make this powerful blend of rock and worship music, to serve our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rick Copus has been a professional musician since the mid 80’s; after becoming a Christian in 1995, Rick joined his church worship team and began serving the Lord with his music. In 1998 Rick formed a band from the worship team in Bakersfield called Formerly Blue, playing in coffee houses and festivals, the band made a CD(Pickin’ Up The Pieces), and was very popular in Bakersfield until their breakup in 2000.”

Now he has gone on to form The Rick Copus Band. We really like this band, as they are putting their music to good use trying to help people with cerebral palsy. It is through disability life experiences, that Rick, the band, and their families are dedicated to disability ministry. Such a great cause!
Please be sure to find out more about the band at their website is: www.therickcopusband.org

Independent Artist Sally Debauchery Signs With Steve Clayton

Sally Debauchery is an independent artist and model that works with many bands.  When she was 17 years old she received her first bass as a gift from her friend, Shavo Odadjian, from the band System of a Down.  In 2009, Debauchery has made a guest appearance, recording bass on Team Cybergeist’s song “Justified.” Debauchery chooses Steve Clayton picks because she has a hard time finding the right size pick in stores. She likes to use our 1.26mm acetal guitar picks.  She has been using our picks for years and claims she is hooked on them.  Debauchery and many other bassist are finding the heavy gauge acetal picks are a great choice. Sally is determined to pave the way for female musicians as she continues to leave her mark on the entertainment industry.  For more information about Sally Debauchery you can find her on myspace, or her website http://www.myspace.com/ddevild0ll
