Carley Wolf

Carley Wolf Uses: Clayton Standard Acetal 1.00mm Custom Picks.

Carley’s Quote:  “When I need that extra bite in my tone, Clayton pics do the trick. I love the way they feel in my paw!”

THE GHOST WOLVES

“… Some of the most corpulent, room-filling distortion I’ve ever heard…. in my book The Ghost Wolves win the award for most badass, face-melting tone”  –Premier Guitar

The Ghost Wolves’ name mirrors the ferocious, primal sounds the Austin, Texas duo conjure from drums (Jonny Wolf) and guitar (Carley Wolf), and acknowledges Carley’s upbringing among hybrid wolves on her family’s ranch. The duo take inspiration from a variety of American styles – blues, rock n’ roll, swamp-boogie – and spin it into a hybrid they’ve dubbed “stomp n’ roll.”

The band formed in 2010 and released their first EP, In Ya Neck, in 2011, followed by the seven-inch, Getchya Hip Thrust, before signing to Plowboy Records in 2014 and releasing the album, Man, Woman, Beast, recorded at Austin’s famed Arlyn Studios.

The duo have collaborated in the studio and on stage with Bushwick Bill (Geto Boys), Johnny Vidacovich (New Orleans’ drumming legend), and BP Fallon (Led Zeppelin, John Lennon, T-Rex, Thin Lizzy). The Ghost Wolves are constantly creating new music videos, art, and custom stage wear, but they are best known for their infectious on-stage chemistry, relentless touring, and raw energy, with over 1000 shows delivered and counting.

In 2014 alone the band played SXSW, Psych Fest, Ireland’s Electric Picnic, plus their first European tour dates. Japanese cult fashion line, Hysteric Glamour, flew them to Tokyo to play their 30th Anniversary event. The Ghost Wolves’ complete music catalog and custom merchandise were carried exclusively in Hysteric Glamour’s Japanese stores for the entire 2014-2015 winter season. Revered global fashion house, Perry Ellis, used an instrumental version of The Ghost Wolves’ song “Gonna Live” for a behind-the-scenes look at Michael Maccari’s debut collection for Fashion Week in New York City last fall. “Shotgun Pistol Grip,” recorded on Carley’s vintage one-string guitar and one of several live during which Jonny plays drums with his feet and left hand – while playing an analog synthesizer with his right – has been featured on the hit TV series Shameless.“Dangerous Moves” was used in Oxygen’s Bad Girl’s Club and in the over-the-top trailer for Japanese martial arts film, Why Don’t You Play in Hell? “Attack Attack Attack” was heard on MTV’s Real World: Explosion, “Itch” on Oxygen’s Funny Girls, and Oxygen’s Best Ink used “Gonna Live” and “Baby Fang Thang.”

Carley Wolf endorses Clayton USA picks, Silvertone guitars, and Eminence Speakers.

The Brothers Reed

Products Used: Clayton Custom Green Delrin, Standard Shape, 0.88mm gauge

“It’s hard to beat the durability and playability of Clayton guitar picks. With how often we play I really need a reliable pick to get me through the entire show without too much wear which is why I play the heavier gauge Clayton .88mm. May the Clayton legacy reign supreme!”   -Phil

“Feel and durability are the two qualities I look for in guitar picks which is why I use the Clayton .88mm guitar picks because they don’t feel bulky in my hands but still hold up throughout multiple shows rather than disintegrating mid strum.” -Aaron

The Reed brothers have finally united to create music together after twelve years of being 3000 miles apart. Phil Reed moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest in 2013 and joined forces with Aaron Reed in a project dubbed “Buckle Rash”. Playing around with their not so high-energy solo creations they developed something entirely different on the side. Musical tastes for both have changed over the years and evolved into a medley of folk/bluegrass/pop/country and so on… Focusing on tight harmonies and pretty riffs The Brothers Reed want to bring you a unique listening experience that never sits on one musical spectrum for too long. Whether you’re into blues, rock, folk, or soft roots country, The Brothers Reed are sure to deliver nerve hitting tunes in a most simple format.

The Brothers Reed — Aaron Reed and Philip Reed — have received positive responses from audiences since the two members of local band Buckle Rash started their side project a few months ago.”
-Laurie Heuston – The Mail Tribune

“It’s true we’re not very deep into the new year yet, but the bottom line is that Sick As Folk is easily 2015’s best local album to date, and The Brothers Reed have set a pretty high bar for other local artists hitting the studio this year.”
-Josh Gross – The Rogue Valley Messenger

ODDSLANE

ODDSLANE is a uniquely blended mix of driving rock & roll riffs and solid grooves with an overall pop sensibility. They create music that fuses diverse influences from a wide range of styles, but maintains the integrity of what has become their own original sound. The band primarily focuses on the material of singer/songwriter Doug Byrkit, who in 2003 co-founded the group with longtime musical partner Brian Zielie. Doug and Brian’s partnership goes back many years with their first band together while still in high school. Since, they have maintained a close working relationship that has lasted through college and a host of musical projects. Together they can boast such accomplishments as sharing the stage with diverse artist such as Lifehouse, Pete Yorn, and Walter Trout as well as having toured Korea, Japan, and the Pacific Rim. As the core members of ODDSLANE, the pair has formed a creative relationship that blends their broad range of musical influences, ranging from The Beatles and Led Zeppelin to Tower of Power and Miles Davis, with their years of experience recording and touring. To the outside observer, it may seem that Brian plays a small role in the creative process, but his influence on Doug over the years has been the spearhead to the evolution of his songwriting. ODDSLANE (originally under the name THE BREAKERS) was formed in 2003 out of the ashes of several other defunct St. Louis groups (Zito, Flynova, Nadine, and The LP Outsiders to name a few) to work on selected material from Doug’s recent demo projects. Shortly, they began recording these songs and playing live to a steadily growing fan base. This first line up of the group quickly produced two EP’s. The first of which, THE BOTTLENECK SESSIONS, twice earned them attention from the Memphis Regional Grammy Chapter along with some high profile national and international songwriting contests. It also caught the ear of those at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. Sun Studio, most widely known as the studio that gave birth to Elvis, has been recording legends for years. Along with Elvis, the likes of BB King, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and more recently U2, Vertical Horizon, Maroon 5, Liz Phair, 3 Doors Down, The Calling, and Better Than Ezra have all recorded at there. ODDSLANE joined these ranks by invitation on the studio’s part as an effort of there’s to promote emerging artist. Both of these recordings were later combined into what became the release simply entitled “SESSIONS”. The follow-up recording, SONGS FOR YOUNG EXECUTIVES, is the group’s first full-length album. Although an unconventional approach, this recording was a collection of the most honest and well crafted songs to ever come from songwriter Doug Byrkit. The album contains 13 tracks loosely based around the theme of corporate greed; a subject Doug had became all too familiar with while working in Corporate America before recently leaving to complete a graduate music degree and to devote more time to music and ODDSLANE. The lyrical content gives a sometimes tongue-in-cheek and sometimes blatantly unapologetic slant on those negotiating the corporate jungle. Even though there are some heavy themes that run throughout, most of the songs are ambiguous enough to be interpreted multiple ways by the listener, thus making the album very easy for a broad range of fans to connect with. Aside from the obvious lyrical message of the record, Songs For Young Executives delivers the pinnacle of Doug’s musical evolution. The album is a mix of musical influences and real world playing experience, which along with the solid groove foundation provided by drummer Brian Zielie, merge into what can only be described as a true representation of ODDSLANE’s own unique rock & roll sound. The album’s single “Miles Away” has been featured on the hit television series THE DEADLIEST CATCH on THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL, and continues to garner attention across the web and other media. The album and single have also gained industry attention, earning a publishing deal from Grammy nominated producer George McClure’s Nashville publishing house as well as several independent film score and web placements. Currently the group performs in and around the St. Louis area in several different forms, from full rock band to acoustic solo gigs. Check the CALENDAR PAGE for a full list of current bookings. They are also busy putting the finishing touches on a brand new full length album due later this year.

Also, they have a page on Kickstarter, be sure to check it out! You can preorder their album for $1 through the site!

Jim Cairo of Infinity

We just endorsed Jim of the band Infinity! You have probably seen their guitar pick around our website :-). Here is a little bit about the band from their bio:

Formed in 1985, Infinity grew from being not only a Journey Tribute band, but one of the top drawing cover – bands in the Midwest.Two-plus decades rocking the hundreds of local music festivals lighting up the Chicago suburbs each summer have put Infinity in front of hundreds of thousands of fans. Consequently, the band has built an incredible following, making them the Top most successful cover bands in the nation’s third-largest metropolis. Infinity continues to break attendance records at Clubs and Festivals across Chicago and the Midwest. But more importantly, Infinity maintains the intangible ability to include the audience and make them feel as if they are part of the show. A quote from the Lead singer Bob ” this is not our show, it’s yours” Infinity enjoys thousands of fans young and young at heart, who sing along and become the chorus to their music. This is the difference between performers and genuine entertainers. Perhaps this is the reason for the perpetual following and return to area Festivals and Clubs across the Midwest year after year after year.

You can check out their music, videos, show dates & more at their website:

NEO GEO

NEO GEO has been making waves since 2008 with their original and unpredictable brand of electro-tinged rock, described by Sugar Buzz Magazine as, “like Paramore, may remind you of No Doubt, with a touch of Evanescence and lots of EDGE and DRIVE.” The band’s name is indicative of their attitude towards their sound. “NEO GEO means new earth,” says lead vocalist Rainy Terrell. “We wanted to create something new and special, something groundbreaking and different.” “All of us coming from different backgrounds, you can hear the influences  in the music of the different genres we come from. We also wanted to incorporate an electronic vibe, so we thought NEO GEO was fitting in all aspects.” In 2009 the five-piece from Orange County gained sponsorship from Roland, and was a featured artist on their showcase stage at Winter NAMM ’09 alongside Shiny Toy Guns.  The band also teamed up with Hardline Entertainment in 2010, enlisting the expertise of Ken Seaton and Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise). NEO GEO worked tirelessly on their debut studio album with Grammy award-winning producer Cameron Webb (Kelly Clarkson, Motorhead, Pennywise, Weezer).  Their self-titled debut album is scheduled for release on Hardline Entertainment in June 2011. “What blows me away the most about Neo Geo is that this is their first album and their ability to write and perform such great songs.  One listen to Rainy and you are blown away by her melodies and passion to sing from the heart,” affirms Cameron. No strangers to high-profile shows, NEO GEO has already rocked the stages of several infamous LA landmarks, including the Roxy with Dead By Sunrise, the House of Blues with Strung Out and their own headline show at the Whiskey A Go Go. Following the incredible success of their 2010 warped tour, Neo Geo has signed on for 15 shows on the 2011 tour starting in Florida. They will be performing among bands like Black Veil Brides, Less Than Jake, and Yelawolf marking their second year in a row playing the festival-  http://vanswarpedtour.com/band/neo-geo. Their song, “Can’t Catch Me,” is to be featured on the Official 2011 Vans Warped Compilation CD. Capitalizing on the international impact of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter and online marketing tools like MySpace and Reverb Nation, NEO GEO already has an ever-expanding global fan base as far-flung as Australia.

We are proud endorsers of Neo Geo :-). Check out their website here:

The Shiny Darks

The Shiny Darks have been endorsed with us since 2010, here is a little bit about their band:

It’s rock-n-roll with a kick to the face and a pat on the back. It’s true that “happy” and “positive” aren’t normally associated with aggressive music, but there’s more to The Shiny Darks than meets the eye. The thrillsome threesome from Houston, TX has managed to create a sound like no other- one that can start a pit and keep you smiling all at once. Epitomized in their newly released EP “Stab at Love”, The Shiny Darks’ transcend traditional punk, kick it up a notch, and slam it back down with some good ol’ rock-n-roll fun.
To create the magic, the Houston-based band took to the outskirts of the nation and found their resting place in Radiostar Studios (Weed, CA). It was there, through the eyes and ears of the great Sylvia Massy (Tool, Powerman 5000, Johnny Cash) and veteran studio/session musician turned producer Cameron McKenzie, “Stab at Love” came alive.
“Recording in Weed, CA with The Shiny Darks was definitely in my top five experiences of all time.” says Cameron. “Everyone there had nowhere to go but straight into rock history.”
“Recording The Shiny Darks could be the highlight of my career.” says Sylvia. “These guys live and breathe true rock-n-roll, dredged from the depths of dirty thoughts and high-school rejection. Bite marks bleed with the song ‘Stab’. Paul’s vocals and bass wrap around you like a warm strait-jacket. Gem’s drums drill into your temples like a lobotomy. Quenton’s guitars wake you up like a slap in the face. No kissy-kissy music here…”
“Stab at Love”, the first single off of the titular EP, explores loving and losing with the honesty of being freshly wounded. A heart that was, as the song pines, left “beating on the floor” now picked up and proudly displayed on the wounded’s sleeve.
“These songs are lyrically very personal to us. But everybody can relate. Love and loss in ‘Stab’ and ‘Photographs’, the desire for the ‘greener pasture’ and its ultimate disappointment in ‘Kennedy’, and surviving tough times in ‘Holiday’.” says Quenton Rockwell.
“Human nature is driven by two basic emotions: love and fear” says Paul Mendez. “These songs delve into the love side of things…mostly surviving the pain of it. We wrote about it and, to a degree, celebrate survival.”
Though “Stab at Love” boasts the flavors of rejection, pain, and agonizing heartache, the underlying theme which can all but be avoided is hope. The same could be said of each band member. Three very distinct personalities that are each tinged with optimism. “We want people to know that these times don’t last forever” says Gem Mendez (Paul’s baby sister). “There’s something else right around the corner. We wish for our music to touch those that have endured such pain and have fun with it, enough to take a peek at what good things are to come.”

Shenaniganz

We recently just endorsed the band Shenaniganz! The Germans still wonder how to pronounce that!  Even the band had no answer for that in the summer of 2002. Georg, Dani, Dom and Tobay played a few shows before they wanted to bring their “bad ass rock n roll” to more people out there. The T.V. station, VIVA, announced a national battle of the bands: SchoolJam 2006, which the completed Shenaniganz took part in for fun and to put their skills to the test. The Shenaniganz won SchoolJam 2006 and left 1200 bands in the dust. That rock ‘n’ roll victory brought in a slew of festivals and gigs wanting the Shenaniganz to play on their stages. They played in famous festivals (D-Rock am Ring, A-Frequency, South Korean IJAF), and appeared on the radio and television. The Shenaniganz also released two records through the giant distributor SPV and an Indie label in Munich. However, the Shenaniganz faced some obstacles. The label ran out of money for advertisement and their video (a price of the SchoolJam) was not played on T.V. as promised. SPV, as many people know, announced insolvency. Despite the negative effects, the media continued to publish praises about the Shenaniganz music. They wrote comments like, “More Stooges in the little finger than other bands in the whole ass!” and “Only a few times as a journalist, you’re brought to tears of joy . . .” Audiences everywhere were blown away by the Shenaniganz’ performances and very soon the Shenaniganz gained the reputation of the best live band around. It is a well-recognized fact. Recently, the band with the crazy-don’t-know-how-to-pronounce-name won the John Lennon Talent Award in 2010. Their learning experience in the workshops and coaching will help the guys show the world their true rock ‘n’ roll capabilities and to proof to whole Germany that Shenaniganz are the great hope for a dying music genre. In 2011 they even proof it to the whole world with becoming third at the Global Battle of the Bands Final in Malaysia, the highest place for Germany ever. They defeat 15 world finalists in that last round and therefor at least 5000 bands worldwide. And even if no German is able to pronounce the band’s name, it doesn’t matter because they know – Shenaniganz rocks!

Gino DiGeso of Stoned Fire

Stoned Fire is a New York City Classic Rock Band featuring Singer Petar Krsikapa, Guitarists Gino DiGeso & Sean Battista, Bass player, David Alva and Keyboard player Georgios Pesios. Stoned Fire is upcoming rock band that is making a statement in the rock scene. “Once you hear us, you will feel dirty!” See what the NYC venues are saying about us .

“Great turnout…very exciting band to watch live a must see! Walter of Trash Bar Brooklyn

“Watching this band play live is like being back in 1966, great band!” Don of Don Hills NYC”

“Stoned Fire are an impressive harmonic hard rock band with a vintage sound that was a refreshing surprise and they also drew a nice crowd.” DJ SuperMorgan, F*Bomb. Delancey

Stoned Fire gives the flash and energy of a time when rock and roll was raw and real in a time where other acts get lost in the ambient noise of most venues. boom! Dan of Turnstyle Music Group (Public Assembly, Uncle Mikes, National Underground)

“Stoned Fire is a standout among young New York City rock bands. Great musicians and creative songwriting make Stoned Fire a fresh new twist on a classic style. Keep an eye and an ear out for them… CT Tamura – Gotham Rocks NYC (Crash Mansion, Gramercy Theater, Bower Ballroom, Highline Ballroom).
