It seems that cupcakes, especially ones with extravagant fillings or frosting decoration, are becoming increasingly popular for events. What better way to make them stand out than with some custom guitar picks crowning the tops? Below is a photo sent to us by customer Deanna Vickers, who placed an order for custom guitar picks for a friend’s birthday party. Which White?

Over the years, Clayton, USA has added more and more pick options to our custom guitar pick line. I have realized that, currently, we offer five different white guitar pick options for custom printing, and some of you may be wondering which white pick material will be best for you?

Here is a quick guide to help you out!

1. White Delrin Picks: These are basic, bright white picks, similar to tortex material. They have a semi-gloss finish. They work best with dark, bright, and bold colors for custom designs. Black print is the best for this material.

2. Acetal Picks: Some customers choose acetal for custom picks because they have already tried our regular Clayton acetal picks and love them! Acetal picks are professional grade; known for having an excellent grip to them. They work well with a variety of colors for designs, as long as the shades are not too light. They are semi-transparent, so you want to keep this in mind for two-sided designs. They also can support full bleed backgrounds (except black) and photos.

3. Eco Picks: Eco picks are playable guitar picks, though they are not as durable as some of our other materials because they are a biodegradable plastic. However, if you are getting picks purely for promotional use, or give-aways, they are awesome because they can support absolutely ANY artwork. We have done photos, light color shades, high detail designs, and full coverage backgrounds, and they always turn out beautifully on Eco material!

4. White Pearl Picks: Our white pearl material is distinctive because it is marbleized, and has a glossy finish. These picks also work great with a wide variety of colors and can support light color shades (even light grey). You will just want to be aware that the marbleized quality will show through in the design that is printed on them (unless it is black print).

5. Carbonate Picks: Carbonate material is plain white, like white delrin, but with a gloss finish like white pearl. Carbonate, like white delrin, works best with bright and bold colors for the designs. We offer carbonate picks as our less-than-100 pick option… You can get custom carbonate picks in sets of 30 or 60, while our other white pick options have a minimum order quantity of 100.

Blast Off!

We recently received some news here at Clayton, Inc. that we had never heard  before…we found out that one of the picks that was made here for customer Jowi Taylor was taken into space!! Jowi had conceived and commissioned a guitar, made from pieces of history from all across Canada. The guitar has been played by everyone from Don Ross to Feist to K’naan to Ron Sexsmith to Buffy Ste. Marie to Gordon Lightfoot as well as thousands of ordinary Canadians. It’s also been played by the extraordinary Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, who took one of Jowi’s Clayton custom guitar picks on his recent celebrated mission to the International Space Station. He recently returned the pick along with the official certification of its journey, shown here:-1

How cool is that? This little guitar pick that we made has certainly traveled further than any of us have! Guess it’s time to rock out in outer space!

It’s never too early…

To start shopping for Christmas gifts, especially a customized gift! We do have a holiday shipping schedule on our custom site, but sometimes it can be missed so we thought we would also share it here. Custom Guitar Picks are a great gift not only for that special guitarist in your life but also for business cards, new baby announcements and more. The gift ideas for custom guitar picks are really endless, picks aren’t just for musicians ;-)! Below is our last day to order schedule based on what shipping method you choose. This is for the following pick materials only: Colored Delrin, White Pearl, White Delrin, Acetal, Ultem, Carbonate, Text Only, Eco, Metallics and Colored Pearl. Unfortunately, it is past the cut off date to receive a specialty item by Christmas, those materials are: Glow in the Dark, Black Celluloid, and Hot Stamp Foil. These do take 4-6 weeks to produce so they would likely arrive sometime after the holiday. We also often get asked if your order will be received by the holiday if you are not located in the US. To receive a package internationally by Christmas we recommend ordering FedEx Express shipping ($35.00) which takes 2-3 days and is traceable with insurance included. Also, we would strongly suggest sending an email to with your ORDER ID number stating these are for a Christmas gift so we can mark it to go out in time for Christmas delivery (this applies to international orders only, if you order by the dates below and one of the materials listed above you do not need to do anything else to receive by Christmas). If you have more questions regarding Christmas delivery you can email us at or call us at 1-877-752-9484.

One of our Clayton Customers is ready to wail on the  guitar with these custom whale guitar picks! Okay, I admit that I chose these to post on our blog because I thought they were cute, but the design also happened to turn out really well! While  we are able to do pretty detailed custom designs, it is often the more simplistic art, with bold colors and large text, that really turn out the best. These picks were made on our white delrin pick material, which makes the bright blue color really pop! To order your own custom picks, visit

How many licks? Guitar licks that is…

This week, we wanted to show off this awesome owl pick design ordered by one of our customers! The owl was printed on our green delrin pick material. There is a high amount of detail in the art, and it looks really nice as a black print on the green background. Delrin picks come in 6 different color/gauges, and are one of our lowest cost picks, starting at 100 for just $34.99! To order your own custom printed guitar picks, visit today!

Here are some cool new custom guitar picks ordered by one of our customers! :

These picks were made on our classic Ultem material. Ultem picks are known for best resembling the sound quality of a true tortoiseshell pick without being actually made from tortoiseshell. They are light tan/gold in color, and they work great with brown and black designs like the one shown. The shape of these picks is rounded triangle, which is a popular choice amongst bassists. To order your own ultem picks, visit today!

Tattoo Your Picks

Getting a custom printed design on your guitar picks is just about the same as tattooing them, and this design especially reminded me of an awesome tattoo! The colors are so vibrant, and they are perfect against the background of our white delrin guitar picks. Our white delrin material is a flat, very bright white so it always makes bright colors in designs really stand out! This customer also utilized our full bleed design option so that the art on the picks goes all the way to the very edge, instead of having a border around it. To order your own custom ink “tattoo” picks, visit www.claytoncustom.comScatter today!

For a Rainy Day…

Check out these cool picks! We loved the blue Flotsam design that was submitted for custom guitar picks by the band Treading Lemmings. This art was printed on our acetal guitar picks, which work great for graphics that include color backgrounds that cover most of the guitar pick, such as the blue background in this design. We also liked how the fine detail in the creative logo turned out so well, even on small guitar picks!

In March 2013, The Treading Lemmings released “Flotsam”. The EP serves up five delicious new tunes. Much more akin to a fine dining experience than a to trip to the local diner;”Flotsam” provides depth, complexity, sweetness at times, and occasional bitterness for balance. With the typical lyrical finesse of Christopher Quinn, this project was also spiced up by some special guests: Nashville fiddle ace, Kurt Baumer, played on a homage to Keith Moon in “Goodnight Moon,” and inter-continental arrangement help was provided by the Dentists’ (seminal 90s Brit-pop) Bob Collins on “Doing Time On Placid Drive.”

To learn more about The Treading Lemmings, visit the following sites:

Twitter: @treadinglemming

The custom guitar picks were created and ordered by Clayton customer Andy Hunt (aka Ricky), who plays rhythm (Rickenbacker) guitar for The Treading Lemmings. With the release of the new vinyl EP “Flotsam”, he wanted a new promotional pick to toss from stage. He worked with artist Carl Yonder to take his artwork from “Flotsam” and turn it into a guitar pick design using the Clayton custom design tool.

Pick of the Week — GodSpeed3 (GS3)

This week’s Pick of the Week was made for the band GodSpeed3.

GodSpeed3 (GS3) is a dynamic band whose variety of songs convey a positive message with an exciting stage presence and a modern rock edge. Over the past five years, the band has played for over 100,000 people and shared the big stage with Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, DecembeRadio, Jeremy Camp, Leeland, RoyalTailor, Audio Adrenaline, 33 Miles, Addison Road, Jonny Diaz, Mike’s Chair, Building 429, Abandon, Todd Agnew, The Letter Black, KJ-52 and Big Daddy Weave. Signed to TMG Records, GodSpeed3 was honored to be included on the official Grammy Nomination list in 2009, 2010 and 2011. The band has played from South Mississippi to Ohio, Texas and across the Southeast garnering rave reviews along the way.

The GS3 picks were made on our white delrin pick material, which was perfect to support the bright colors of the band logo. The design really stands out! To order your own custom picks, visit today!

Pick of the Week — EOS

This week’s Pick of the Week is for the band EOS:

Featuring a whopping eleven-piece band, its four sizzling female singers put this group way over the top in the best of ways. The band features lead guitarist Joe “Ciid” Birardi, rhythm guitarist Bill Tuohy as well as bassist Wendy Williamson, and third guitarist Kevin Losardo. Add drummer Brian Picardi, percussionist Gerry Mac, and keyboardist Andy Ilyinsky and you have a full stage of rock and roll veterans that put on an unstoppable show.

Birardi’s “big” idea stemmed from watching the same old delivery in club after club where the music was governed by the stereotypical four-piece format. The EOS frontline is impressive indeed. Made up of Theresa Wilson, Dawn Szollar, Danielle Zelenak and Patti Ogletree, the four dynamic beauties spin rock and roll harmony between shifting lead vocal duties while the band holds it down behind them and it’s never a dull moment.

EOS has worked closely with several New Jersey charities including: Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, The NJ Elks Army of Hope, Operation Jersey Cares, and The Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Foundation. Thanks to you, they have been able to raise nearly $20K for these causes to date.   All proceeds from their downloaded songs will be donated to our troops via Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon.  EOS thanks you for your support! Find out more about EOS at!

The EOS picks were made on our white pearl material, using the full bleed option that allows their design to fill the pick to the edge. We love the detail of their design, and the pearl is a great material to support the variety of warm color tones. Order your own custom picks today at!

Pick of the Week — Captain Ivory

This week’s Pick of the Week is for the band Captain Ivory; a Detroit-based, high energy rock band, that is putting their own spin on Motor City Rock N’ Roll.  The group pulls inspiration from many different rock artists, including Led Zeppelin, the Kings of Leon, and fellow Detroiter Jack White.  The combination of many different styles and genres makes their live show something to behold, and the band is quickly gaining traction in the Midwest.  They just completed a live album recorded all in one take at Groovebox Studios, Detroit.  The songs, along with videos and other information can be found on their website:

The Captain Ivory guitar picks were made on our white delrin pick material, and we appreciated the high level of detail and artistic quality in their logo. To order your own custom printed guitar picks, visit today!

PS, be on the lookout for our next sale…we will be posting a blog with the discount code soon!

Pick of the Week — Maybe Refuge

This week’s Pick of the Week was ordered by guitarist Hiu—who sometimes go by the alias/nickname: LVXS. Hiu plays the bass in a band called Maybe Refuge. They’re a 4-piece alternative rock/pop band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and they write and play mostly original music. Combining a deep, story-telling writing style, modern guitar tone, and a groovy, driving rhythm section, the band can be described as being fun, quirky, and modern, but with a bold underlying message to possibly bring “refuge” to their listeners. They currently have an EP out that’s available via their webstore or on iTunes and they’re working on a new album right now. They’ve got another gig coming up in Toronto as they open for another local band and that’s going to be on December 27th. You can find details and an event on their facebook page:
The official website is but you can also find the band on twitter and youtube by searching “Maybe Refuge.”
The Maybe Refuge Picks were made on our acetal pick material in the rounded triangle shape. We like how Hiu used the full bleed option to stretch the band logo like a banner across the pick, they turned out really great! To order your own custom guitar picks, visit today!

Pick of the Week — Ella Kaye

This Week’s Pick of the Week is for the band Ella Kaye.

“Emerging from the ashes of recently passed Ever Divine, the band has come back with a new line up and a whole new set. With Garrin Beaudoin and Michael Martin on guitar, Jeremy Novakowski on bass, Phil Del Vecchio on drums, and Justin Chard on vocals, the band, formed in 2011, is tearing up Arizona’s metal scene.”

Behind the name:  Ella Kaye is a character in the book “The Great Gatsby”.  Dan Cody’s last will gave Jay Gatsby a 25,000 inheritance, but Ella Kaye manages to use the court system against Jay to the win the money for herself.  Because of this, Jay sees Ella as a gold digger.

Find out more about Ella Kaye at

The Ella Kaye picks were made on our white delrin pick material, and we really like the intricacy and detail of the design that the band created! Order your own custom picks today at!

Here at Clayton, we love to learn about some of the creative ways that customers use custom printed guitar picks, and we have one to share with you that is perfect for the holidays! Our customer, Amanda, orders custom picks to be made into earrings that she sells online. You can check out her website, We love how she has the picks printed here, but then she assembles the earrings herself, adding beads and metallic swirls to give them a very professional and stylish look. She has created some specialty designs just for the holidays too! See some examples below:

These earrings make for a wonderful gift idea! The following is an excerpt from Amanda’s site that describes the earrings:

“Like the guitar itself, the pick has become an art form. Small in stature, the most sought-after concert will come to a silent halt without the band’s lead and rhythm players each grasping a tiny plectrum to command their instruments. We share your appreciation, and present our line of signature Earrpix Earrings. Whether worn in tribute to your favorite guitarist, to the beauty and splendor of the music created with them, or just because they are fun, interesting, and sure to invoke a smile and comment whenever worn, pick a pair or two and make your own statement.”

Again, visit the site at ! Or, visit to create your own custom pick designs!
