Pick of the Week — The Brian Davis Band

This week’s Pick of the Week was made for The Brian Davis Band, which formed in 2004 for a one-night-only concert to raise funds for the music departments in the local Catholic schools. That night was an overwhelming success both monetarily and spiritually and ended with a feeling of what’s next! Since then, that concert has grown to an annual event drawing near a thousand together each year in worship and has raised nearly $35,000 dollars for youth music programs.
In 2007, the band was finding themselves more in demand for youth rallies, worship nights and church festivals. That demand came with a special call from God to begin to share their faith journey through original songs. As the songs poured out, the ministry continued to grow and touch the lives of countless Christians from their region. 2009 was truly a breakout year for the band; seeing their message spread to a larger audience, seeing their gifts helping the people of Uganda through a nationally released compilation album titled “Unified By Grace,” making their first television appearance on ” Lift Him Up Kansas” and completing their first studio album “Stand” which released in January of 2010.
The band is looking forward to the places God will call them to in 2012 and the opportunity to serve his people through their ministry.
For more information regarding the band visit them online at www.myspace.com/thebriandavisband42 or “like them” on Facebook!

The Brian Davis Band chose to have their picks made on our orange delrin material, which nicely supports their intricate black design. We loved the fine detail and creativity of their artwork. Brian told me that the design on the pick was inspired by Luke 12:24 which speaks of how the Raven, who has nothing, is cared for and loved by God. This passage intends to teach us that we, who have so many gifts, are loved as much… if not more. The Brian Davis Band has the same design for one of their t-shirts as well as on the front of their drum kit. To create your own custom guitar picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com today!

UNIVERSITY of ROCK

Hey Clayton Fans!! Check out these awesome picks we just made for a hip music school known as the UNIVERSITY of ROCK! UNIVERSITY of ROCK was started in 2009, all from an idea and passion to give back to aspiring musicians. Founded in JK’s (Founder/CEO) studio apartment in Hollywood, CA, the UNIVERSITY of ROCK (URock for short) has grown largely due to word of mouth and has grown without the help of any outside investors/capital.
“Our school is highly branded and our image is young, hip, and empowering. Students are really digging our method/philosophy in teaching and have been telling their friends about us. It’s great because we get to introduce them to one of the coolest things on earth- rock n roll and we get to see firsthand on how music impacts their life for the better. I’m very fortunate to have the quality of Instructors and Students at our school,” says JK.
Currently, UNIVERSITY of ROCK has 6 branches in North America (Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix, and Boston) and recently opened an international branch in South Korea as of November 2011.
We had the opportunity to ask JK a few questions:
Q: So how did you come across Clayton picks?
A: It’s funny I actually got a bag of Clayton custom picks as a gift from this girl I knew back in 2009. She got them for me on my birthday and I was immediately hooked on the quality (particularly the Acetal material) and how easy it was to customize anything you wanted on the pick. Since then, I started ordering custom picks from you guys.
Q: Can you describe the picks you recently ordered for your company URock?
A: Yea, it’s the Acetal material and it features our logo/mascot Rockboy on the front of the pick. It’s only shows a part of his face though so it looks all alienish haha.
Q: What’s in store for URock this year?
A: Quite a bit actually. We are filming a couple commercial videos soon and are coming out with a new website in the next month or so. Then we plan to expand to other cities in America and possibly partner with some big names in music by this summer hopefully. Also we are coming out with some cool products that feature our mascot Rockboy.
Q: I heard you just started a band KISS the HERO? Tell us about that.
A: It’s a pop/rock band I started a few months ago with some friends of mine. We are getting ready to hit the studio to record a 5 song EP here soon. From there, we’ll be playing shows, touring, and all that other stuff. I’m really excited, the sound of the band is very pop oriented with a flare of some 80′s rock influence. Look out for KISS the HERO picks soon!

Go Radio

We have recently endorsed Alex, Matt and Jason of Go Radio! Here is a little bit about the band:
It’s a truly rare occasion when a debut by a band is met with the kind of feverish fan anticipation that has encircled LUCKY STREET, the full-length debut by Tallahassee, Florida melodic rockers GO RADIO. But then again, none of those other groups have JASON LANCASTER at the helm. The GO RADIO singer/songwriter, who’s been crafting unflinchingly honest, breathtakingly beautiful music since venturing out on his own in 2007, boasts arguably the most goosebump-inducing combination of raw vocal talent and songwriting prowess in rock today. Backed by a gifted band with two stellar EPs under their belts, LANCASTER and GO RADIO are only just beginning to explore the seemingly endless potential for their mind-blowing creations.

The band–which also includes bassist MATT “BURNS” POULOS, drummer STEVEN KOPACZ and guitarist ALEX REED–immediately turned heads with the release of their self-released EP Welcome To Life in 2008, which bowled over listeners with its poignant, heartfelt lyrics and irresistible melodies. Attracting the attention of Fearless Records, the band inked a deal with the label, releasing the band’s second EP, Do Overs And Second Chances, in 2010. The EP, which featured the stunning ballad “Goodnight Moon,” landed at #8 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, going on to sell more than 15,000 copies in the U.S. In that span the group has toured extensively, heading out on high-profile runs with A Day To Remember, Secondhand Serenade and the Fearless Friends Tour with Mayday Parade among others. Despite the early success, 2011 promises to be the band’s most pivotal moment to date.

Known for their kinetic live performances and intimate interaction with fans, a packed slate of touring in support of LUCKY STREET–including a full run on the 2011 Vans Warped Tour–is the other crucial ingredient in bringing such vital art to the masses. GO RADIO aim to recruit a bonafide army of listeners, from multiple genres, as diverse as the band’s inimitable sound.

“We constantly put ourselves out there. Any chance we get to reach a new audience and get new ears, we’re down for. We’re not going to say, ‘Because you like breakdowns, you’re not gonna like GO RADIO,’ because you might,” says LANCASTER. “That’s how you build these things–one fan at a time, brick by brick. If it weren’t for everybody latching onto the band and finding something they enjoy about it, I’d still be playing acoustic guitar in my den right now.”

GO RADIO’s new album LUCKY STREET is out now on Fearless Records.

Pick of the Week — SOURMASH

We are excited and pleased to start 2012 off with the first Pick of the Week, made for the band SOURMASH! SOURMASH is an accomplished group of musicians hailing from Pennsylvania assembled to pay tribute to the guitar-driven music of the south.  Labeled as ‘100 Proof Southern Rock’, this band performs like the whiskey from which its name is derived – smooth with a strong finishing kick.  The band’s high-energy performances have become legendary in its brief existence.  Formed in 2010, the band has been a consistent headliner for motorcycle rallies, festivals, and clubs.  In addition, the band has opened for national acts, such as Blackberry Smoke.
The powerful SOURMASH performances showcase the band’s many talents.  Strong and clear vocals; a grinding three-guitar attack; lush harmonies of both voice and guitar; and the thunderous panache of bass and drums combine to define the SOURMASH sound.   The musicians also display their abilities playing keyboards, harp, mandolin and fiddle to increase the aural excitement.  The highlight of the show, however, is the participation of the crowd.  Whether the audience is dancing, singing along, or shouting “Hell Yeah!” – it is that energy that keeps SOURMASH alive.
Take a shot!
SOURMASH is:
Craig Harnish – Vocals
Tim Henry – Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals
Nick Farine – Guitar
Chuck Carner – Bass, Harp, Vocals
Ken Harnish – Keyboards, Guitar, Vocals
Matt Knapp  – Drums, Fiddle
To find out more about SOURMASH, visit https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sour-Mash/146397668710547 or https://www.sourmash-rock.com. We loved the design made for the SOURMASH pick, because it has a high amount of detail an intricacy, and it came out really well on our acetal material picks. Pick of the Week — Borrowed Time

This week’s Pick of the Week is for a Blues/Rock jam band/cover band in suburban Chicago called Borrowed Time.  Here is a little about the band from guitarist Michael Sommerfeld: “What we really are is a bunch of old friends with wives and kids who started getting together at a studio on Thursday nights to just jam for the hell of it.  After about 5 years we realized we were making some good music and we should start playing in front of people.  So we started playing local bars, and had our friends come my.  The gig offers just kept coming, and we will continue to play as long as we can (or the wives let us).  We pretty much will play for free (or at least beer), as this is not our career, but rather an escape from our careers.  Our song repertoire includes Beatles, Petty, Dylan, Grateful Dead, and basically any song that sounds good with a jam.   You can see a a little more about us in a very incomplete website www.borrowedtimefan.com.  Also would add that we have a face book page
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Borrowed-Time/175263943986. I was very proud of my pick design, so I am very excited that it is being acknowledged.  Your website interface is superb, and I can’t say enough about the timing of the delivery, as well as how great the picks turned out.  So thanks!!!!” Michael designed his picks for your white pearl material, which gives a cool, almost 3-D appearance for their logo. Pick of the Week — Fragile Apples

This week’s Pick of the Week was designed for the band Fragile Apples. We liked the simplicity and creativity of the design..the bold black graphic works out really well on our white delrin picks. Benjamin Olson and The Fragile Apples from Nashville, TN are an independent Rock ‘N’ Roll band who have the direct mission of making live music fun again! Involving as many fun characters as possible, as well as combining soaring vocals with killer guitars and grooves, The Fragile Apples are dancing their way into the hearts of those who join them at their concerts (parties). In addition to steady touring, Olson released his 4th studio album, “You Are Here” in 2010 and was featured on the Roy Orbison tribute album “Under The Covers” with his version of “Working For The Man.” Join them on Facebook for updates, pictures, videos and more: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Benjamin-Olson/20895138280?v=wall&viewas=0

Poisonwood is a Melodic Death Metal band from Arkansas. Formed in October 2009, the band has already played extensively in their home state and throughout the south, gathering a loyal and devoted following en route. Pick of the Week — Midnight Run

This week’s Pick of the Week is for a band called Midnight Run. These picks were created on our white pearl material, and we love how Midnight Run’s artwork, with its bold colors, has a really cool 3-D look. They also chose a rounded triangle shape which added extra space for the design. Here is a little info about the band: “Dedicated to replicating the sounds of the phenomenal band, Journey, Midnight Run delivers incredible vocals, incredible sound and an incredible show. Each musician is committed to providing as true a sound to the original Journey band as possible, and the result is an experience that takes listeners back to times they cherish, while introducing a new generation to music they can love. Journey music shaped the 70s and 80s and today Journey continues to tour and create new albums, showcasing resiliency and talent. Midnight Run’s talents and commitment to perfection delivers music that is technically perfect, soulful and memorable. In the end, what separates good bands from great bands is passion. The five musicians of Midnight Run have always been passionate about music. Each took a different path in developing their talents and arriving at where they are today. Good tribute bands are dedicated to the music of the band they are covering. There’s lots of self-reflection and a continual dedication to the music. The work of Midnight Run in covering the Journey songbook is in itself a tribute to the music and a commitment to listeners to have a fantastic experience hearing the band. Midnight Run delivers: in music; in vocals; in showmanship; and especially in passion. A Midnight Run show is filled with energy and soul, whether it’s the driving beat of Any Way You Want It or the tender ballad When You Love a Woman. Lots of audience dancing and singing-along is standard fare at a Midnight Run show. The Midnight Run experience is excellent for everyone – those who book them appreciate the professionalism and promptness, and those who hear Midnight Run savor memories and appreciate the music of Journey all over again.
