Sally Debauchery is an independent artist and model that works with many bands. In 2009, Debauchery has made a guest appearance, recording bass on Team Cybergeist’s song “Justified.” Debauchery chooses Steve Clayton picks because she has a hard time finding the right size pick in stores. The Steve Clayton team is proud to announce that we have been included in a blog for Live Musician Central. Live Musician Central is a site that provides resources for performing musicians, including information about being in a band, gigs, band equipment, and how to improve live band skills. The blog entry dedicated to Steve Clayton, Inc., referred to our acetal picks, and the reasons why our they are chosen over other brands. The main reasons include that our acetals have a sweat-resistant surface, they are long-lasting, and they have a good hardness that allows for a sharp attack when playing. Our acetal picks are available with our logo on them, or as a material for custom design. To check out the blog posting, please visit http://livemusiciancentral.com/2008/06/13/the-best-guitar-picks-clayton-acetal-standard-picks/ For Clayton Acetal Standard Guitar Picks, visit http://www.steveclayton.com/acetal.php and to design custom acetal picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com. This week we selected a bright orange delrin pick by The Ray Johnston Band for Pick of the week. Our colored delrin picks can only be printed with black ink, but they sure can get an audiences attention! The band also ordered their design on our yellow delrin and pearl celluloid picks. You may have noticed we did a blog earlier about this band, here. They are a true inspiration! This pick was created to help Ray Johnston promote a new web series featuring him. Below is the synopsis of the program by HDNet: “HDNet is proud to introduce a new series presenting the journey of cancer survivor and former Dallas Maverick Ray Johnston and his band as they travel across the country trying to make it in the music business. The band’s journey is only a part of the story, however. The larger part of this behind-the-scenes series is the uplifting story of the band’s leader, Ray Johnston and his heroic battle with leukemia. While still trying to beat the disease, he is pursuing a new dream, traveling across country with The Ray Johnston Band. Some of the band’s performances will be fundraisers for The Ryan Gibson Foundation or TRGF.” TRGF (www.trgf.org) is a Dallas based non-profit organization that supports leukemia research throughout the U.S. Ryan Gibson, like Ray Johnston, had a passion for finding a cure for leukemia. Now, through the talent of he and his band, Ray will be spreading the word about the importance of leukemia research as well as raising funds for TRGF.”
Music Makes Music “MMM” is a non-profit organization that goes to schools to perform and educate students about the importance of music. MMM inspires students to get involved with music which in then impacts students interest levels to finish their education. Schools that have a music program are seeing higher attendance and graduation rates. A 2006 Harris poll, showed that schools who have a music program are getting 97% of students to attend and graduate versus 72.9% for schools without a music program. Karen Zgonc, the VP of Marketing and Development, contacted us and we are excited to work with them. Here are the picks we have created for them. If you would like to support the Music Makes Music organization you may go to their website musicmakesmusic.org
This week we selected a beautiful pencil sketch that we reproduced on our Acetal guitar picks by Dylan Duncan. Dylan explained the purpose of the bicycle on his pick to us below: “The bicycle art and Bicycle on the Ice song on the record, is inspired by an old photograph taken in 1962 by my dad in Vermont. It’s a great photo of a bicycle alone on an iced over lake and the feeling I got from the picture seemed to take on a whole new meaning that related to my own life. At the time I was feeling like I didn’t belong where I was currently living and so when I stumbled upon the lone bicycle on the ice, I realized it, too, didn’t belong where it was. I felt the need to write about it and it became one of the central themes and inspired the album artwork, including corresponding materials like
buttons and these guitar picks.” We thought this was an amazing way to let your music be inspired, even by the most unexpected things. Dylan has an album set to be released this summer called What To Keep & Let Go. He currently has a great blog that you can follow while he creates his album located at: http://www.dylanduncan.com/whattokeep
Or for music samples of his work you can visit his myspace site at: www.myspace.com/dylanduncan
Robert Kearns is now our featured artist! He is the current bassist from Lynyrd Skynyrd and will be touring with them for 2010. The band talks about his audition and how they were impressed by his talent in the video below. Kearns chooses to play with our acetal rounded triangle picks. He enjoys how they feel when he plays with them and says they create a better tone than other guitar picks. Kearns is also from the south and fits right in with the band. We are looking forward to his year with the hall of famers and wish the best luck! To find out more about Robert Kearns and Lynyrd Skynyrd you can visit their website www.lynyrdskynyrd.com
Formed in 2005 the band Kauze is a heavy-metal band located in Southern California. They enjoy using our acetal picks and are big fans of our picks. They created a debut EP titled “Waiting for the Punch” released in 2006. They just had their latest EP release “Epiphany.” The new EP was supported during their 2009 tour and have up coming shows for 2010. Kauze likes to say they sound like old-school hardcore punk and metal. We look forward to supporting the band and hope the best for them this year. You can find out more info on the band at www.myspace.com/kauzetunes
Bilocate is a band well know in Jordan. They came together with brothers Ramzi and Waseem Esayed, got started, and then joined with guitarist Baha’ Farah, and later added guitarist Rami Haikal. In 2005, they released their first full length album “Dysphoria.” The album had received lots of airplay on the local governmental radio station on Jordan FM. In July of 2008 they released the album pictured here, titled “Sudden Death Syndrome.” You can find videos of them with their “2nd War in Heaven” and “Days of Joy” videos. There are some similar guitar sounds I hear when listening to them, such like Metallica’s guitar style. The band members are fans of our acetal picks and are now interested in the ultem picks as well. For more information about the band you may go to bilocate.net or you can find them on myspace.

This week we selected a good example of a pick on our Ultem material. We love this pick, because it uses all kind of different shades of brown on it. Ultem can only be imprinted with either brown, red or black. These colors look best with its Amber hue. Todd Simpson is a very accomplished musician. He has shared the state with the Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Huey Lewis,Paul Thorn and Phil Lesh and friends. Todd plays blues combined with a southern rock vibe. He even recently preformed at the Whiskey A Go Go in L.A. For more information on Todd and his high energy band check out the website: www.toddsimpsonandmojochild.com.

They have three albums, Our Worlds Divorce, This Providence, and the newly acclaimed “Who Are You Now?” which just came out March 17th. The new album features the hit “Letdown” which is in the video below. Daniel Young commented on how important it was to take all last year to produce the new album “Who Are You Now” by saying “We took a long time off the road before going into the studio because we wanted to write songs that were dripping with creativity and you can’t rush that,” Young explains, “I think the end result is much stronger because of that.” The album has a lot of energy and we are looking forward to following them this year. The band members play with our acetal .63mm rounded triangle picks and our 1.0mm standard shape acetal picks. They are less than 5 days away from kicking off their headling Bout Damn Time Tour featuring TheAudition, Anarbor, The Bigger Lights, and Artist Vs. Poet. For more information regarding shows, band info, and artist news for This Providence you may go to their website www.thisprovidence.com

Their music is an obvious mixture of each of the member’s unique musical style and influences…ranging from classic rock, 80’s metal, Straight ahead rock of the 90’s and far beyond. The band’s musical D.N.A. is made up of solid Bass and Drums, Catchy, dirty Guitars riffs and rich powerful vocals. If you are in the bay area make sure to check this band out! Ray Johnston has a story we all should hear about. He has gone from the NBA to his band now”The Ray Johnston Band” The video below gives you an inspiring story of how one person continues to live his dreams even when the toughest obstacles can come along. Ray was a former Dallas Mavericks NBA player that had to walk away from the NBA due to unexpected leukemia. He bounced back after going through a coma and many days being in the hospital. Jason Mraz said, ” When you listen to music…ahh yeah the person gets me…they know what it’s about and your now one of those guys.” This Jason claims about Ray Johnston’s music. He likes to use our popular acetal .63mm guitar picks and we will show his new picks once we finish them this week. It is our pleasure to support such an inspiring musician and we look forward to following The Ray Johnston Band throughout the year. For upcoming shows and more information you may go to these links www.rayjohnstonband.com, http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sweet-tooth/id327952492
This week we selected Erich Church’s pick for our pick of the week. Eric is a very acclaimed American country music singer and songwriter. In 2006 he released his debut album Sinners Like Me. That album produced an amazing total of four chart singles on the Billboard country charts, including the Top 20 hits “How ‘Bout You,” “Two Pink Lines” and “Guys Like Me.” His second album, 2009’s Carolina, has produced two more singles: “Love Your Love the Most,” his first Top Ten hit, and “Hell on the Heart.” Eric is also one of our Endorsed artists and uses our Delrin standard 1.00mm. However this week he ordered some of our Rounded Triangle Pearl Celluloid picks to try out. Our pearl picks are great for promotion since they have a beautiful mother of pearl look to them. People can see them very easily when thrown off stage. We love Eric’s roughed up styled logo in black. Not shown, is our Eagle logo on the back of his picks. Trainwreck was so impressed with Konesky’s guitar skills and his character that they wrote a song about his talent. Tenacious D also referred to him as the antichrist because of his shredding abilities on the guitar.
Konesky has also co-wrote a song on Guitar Hero III called “The Metal.” He also appears on Tenacious D’s 2008 concert video and their documentary titled, “The Complete Master Works 2.” He has performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Saturday Night Live, and the American Music Awards 2006. Here at Clayton, Inc, we have decided to feature a custom pick each week from now forward! We think this is a great way to showcase many of the great picks we make for bands every day. Keep checking in each week to see a new featured pick and band from us.
This week we selected a pick we made for the Nancy Kenyon Band. We loved how colorful and detailed this pick turned out on our white delrin .80mm material. It is a great example that shows what amazing detail and color we can produce onto a guitar pick. We also enhanced this pick by using glossy ink to really make the graphic “pop” on the pick. We had a great time learning more about Nancy Kenyon and her high energy female country style. She has been doing acoustic style shows for over 15 years! Now within the past few years she has a full band and is starting to do big venues. Her next notable show will be at Jillian’s in Albany, NY, which will be an after party for Carrie Underwood’s Albany concert. It begins at 11pm if any of you are interested in seeing this amazing band! To find out more about the Nancy Kenyon Band Please visit: www.myspace.com/nancykenyon
We are proud to announce Kyle Gass (KG) of Tenacious D/Trainwreck as our new featured artist on our website at http://www.steveclayton.com/featuredartist.php! We have worked with KG for a very long time, supplying both himself and Jack Black with their custom picks on our Acetal Rounded Triangle .63mm. Kyle even signed autographs at our booth at the last NAMM trade show. In addition to Tenacious D, Kyle has formed the band Trainwreck. KG describes Trainwreck as “a cornucopia of rock and a 5-headed hydra of pleasure”. Trainwreck is a eclectic mix of Southern Rock, Prog-Rock, Boogie, and straight-up Classic Rock and Roll, along with comedy banter and lyrics derived from the characters they’ve developed within the band. In late 2009 they released their debut album, “The Wreckoning”. It album contains 15 tracks of what they call “Wreck and Roll.” The band is fronted by biker-hayseed Darryl Donald (”Lee” of Tenacious D, or JR), and Kyle Gass (aka Klip Calhoun), and containing most of Tenacious D’s live/studio band (John Shredman, Boy Johnny, and Dallas St. Bernard). Trainwreck is currently on tour, so if you are in any of the following areas, make sure to go check out this unique band!

Clayton fans have you tried our new hot stamp foil picks? Just below to the right you’ll notice I have shared some of the styles people have come up with recently. What makes the picks unique is the foil provides a shiny look that catches the eye. There are many colors to choose from for the picks. For the foil color options you may choose our popular silver, gold, red, or purple foil. The hot stamp foil picks are definitely a popular item because of the sleek looking material and bright foil. The hot stamp foil picks take generally 4-6 weeks to produce, but when finished you’ll see the amazing quality! If you would like to learn more about our custom picks give us a call at 877.752.9484
Eric Church is one of our endorsed artists and we just wanted to let you know he is one of country’s hardest working artists. We could say working a little bit too hard after last fall. While performing in New York, he was stomping so hard on stage that he hurt his ankle. He still finished the show and is ready to set the stage for his 2010 tour with our Clayton custom picks. Here are the picks you might get at one of his shows if you’re lucky. He’s already sold out for this Thursday’s show at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville. Church’s picks are the white pearl rounded triangle with the gauge at 1mm. The white delrin 1mm standard pick is another choice for Church. He has a top 10 hit with his song “Love Your Love the Most,”
one of his songs on his new Carolina album. Another big hit on the album is “Hell On the Heart.” Eric is a rising star that we are excited to follow this year. We look forward to supporting Eric Church during his 2010 tour.
If you are an artist that is also interested in becoming endorsed by us, you may mail us information regarding record label, band picture, tour schedule, and type of Clayton picks you use. Congratulations to Ian Severson becoming our new endorsed artist! Severson currently is the guitarist for the band Future Leaders of the World. In 2004 the band was formed in Buffalo, New York recording a demo in Los Angeles. They signed with Epic Records for their full release of LVL IV featuring the hit “Let Me Out.” Future Leaders of the World has their sound comparable to the Nirvana grunge.
Severson has also played as guitarist for the band Gingerjake. He was given the name as “shrediculous” while playing with Gingerjake in 2003. The band recorded with producer Cameron Webb who also produced Tenacious D. “Karats” was a big hit getting lots of airplay on the Mpls station 93x. Congrats again Ian for becoming our new endorsed artist! We look forward to supporting you with our Clayton guitar accessories and specialized custom picks.
