Pick of the Week — Frogs Gone Fishin’

This week’s Pick of the Week is for the band Frogs Gone Fishin’:

“At a Frogs Gone Fishinʼ show, fans are treated to heavy-hitting rock with the Frogʼs signature improvisational twist. In an age of auto-tuned vocals and laptop superstars, itʼs great to find a band who relies on harmonies, strong melody, and dynamic rhythms to keep their fans coming back. On any given night, the Frogs cut across genres and material from their two albums and never, ever, play the same set-list twice. This diversity in song choice and explosive improvisational energy has earned the band enthusiastic and devoted fans from places as far apart as Denver and New Orleans, Chicago and Austin, New York and San Francisco.”

The Frogs picks were made on our acetal guitar pick material, and we love the bold color and style of their logo. To order your own custom guitar picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com!

Pick of the Week — Maybe Refuge

This week’s Pick of the Week was ordered by guitarist Hiu—who sometimes go by the alias/nickname: LVXS. Hiu plays the bass in a band called Maybe Refuge. They’re a 4-piece alternative rock/pop band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and they write and play mostly original music. Combining a deep, story-telling writing style, modern guitar tone, and a groovy, driving rhythm section, the band can be described as being fun, quirky, and modern, but with a bold underlying message to possibly bring “refuge” to their listeners. They currently have an EP out that’s available via their webstore or on iTunes and they’re working on a new album right now. They’ve got another gig coming up in Toronto as they open for another local band and that’s going to be on December 27th. You can find details and an event on their facebook page: www.facebook.com/mayberefuge.
The official website is www.mayberefuge.com but you can also find the band on twitter and youtube by searching “Maybe Refuge.”
The Maybe Refuge Picks were made on our acetal pick material in the rounded triangle shape. We like how Hiu used the full bleed option to stretch the band logo like a banner across the pick, they turned out really great! To order your own custom guitar picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com today!

Pick of the Week — Megan Burtt

This week’s Pick of the Week was created by customer Bud Boyd, to help promote artist-on-the-rise Megan Burtt.

“Inspired by masters of the craft like Joni Mitchell (lyrics), Bonnie Raitt (guitar), Sarah McLachlan (voice) and Shawn Colvin (performance), Megan has pursued perfection—listening and practicing with every available moment and attending Berklee College of Music in Boston to fully immerse herself in the techniques.

She graduated an accomplished guitarist and vocalist and took off in search of stories to tell. Megan explored South America, Africa and Asia soaking in the cultures and listening to the stories of people the world over. She wanted to learn the blues so she moved to Mississippi to let her soul experience its roots. She was chasing the dream, seeking inspiration and honing her craft.

Life, however, had its own plan for Megan. Her time in the South was derailed by life-threatening illness and her recovery inspired existential discovery and brought her home to Colorado. With a clean bill of health and an energizing gratitude for the journey, Megan Burtt put pen to paper for her debut record. Capturing over two decades of listening, learning, traveling and playing yielded an astonishing amount of songs—she had to choose how to make her first recorded impression. She partnered with Producer/Engineer Eddie Jackson (James Taylor, Vienna Teng, Guster) in a vintage studio in upstate New York with her band, The Cure For Love which features Louis Cato, Adam Tressler, and James Williams. The goal for the debut was to reach as many listeners as possible. They wanted to push the boundaries of Megan’s melodic musicianship and powerful vocals, so they focused the record around a topic that everyone can relate to: love (or the lack thereof). The result was 2010’s “It Ain’t Love”—and it accomplished the mission exactly: “This record is poppy enough to be easily accessible, yet contains some incredible originality.” (The Ruckus)

To find out more about Megan Burtt, her music, and her inspirational story thus far, visit http://www.meganburtt.com/ or http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/meganburtt.

Megan’s picks were made on our white acetal guitar pick material, with a full bleed design (the design goes all the way to the edge of the pick for full coverage. We love how the cover of her album and the overall design theme of her site is incorporated into her pick design.

Pick of the Week — The Jason Lugo Band

This week’s Pick of the Week was made for both Jason Lugo, lead vocals and guitar, and Mark Williams, lead guitarist, of The Jason Lugo Band:

“From the glitz and glamour of performing 6 years professionally in Las Vegas to the wide open spaces of Southern Idaho, Jason Lugo, Southern Idaho Living’s co-owner and publisher, is making a full circle in the music world. After a 16-year absence from the stage, Lugo and his self-titled band bring to Idaho a fusion of modern country and rock music that is in demand.

Playing in clubs and restaurants and for special events throughout the Magic Valley with upcoming dates as opening acts for country artists including Montgomery Gentry & David Nail, the Jason Lugo Band is quickly drawing an ever-growing fan base.

After playing at Canyon Crest in Twin Falls for only a matter of months, the band packed its lounge so consistently that they were moved to the main restaurant on a bigger stage with more room for expanding crowds.

The Jason Lugo Band is scheduled to play monthly at Canyon Crest in Twin Falls. If you plan on seeing them, be sure to call and reserve a table. Tables are often reserved up to two days prior to performances.

To learn more about the Jason Lugo Band, visit their sites at www.jasonlugoband.com and
facebook.com/jasonlugoband!!

Jason writes about his use of Clayton custom guitar picks:

“I’ve been using Clayton picks since I first started performing/gigging 18 years ago in Las Vegas. I still have my ‘lucky pick’ for all the opening acts I’ve done way back when.. it’s over 16 years old. I’m a graphic artist and built the logo and design on my picks… and I build lots of logos for other bands and artists.” Visit Jason’s art site at www.lugographics.com!

The Jason Lugo Band picks were made on our acetal pick material. Acetal is known for being a grainy, not slip material, and they are great for imprinting with a variety of light-to-dark colors as shown with the awesome Jason Lugo Band logo, created by Jason himself.
