This week’s Pick of the Week was made for the blues band, The Mojo Tones. “The Mojo

Tones started out as four friends just getting together, playing Blues and Blues-Rock songs for the fun of it. Mike (drums) initiated things by asking Billy (guitar) if he’d be interested in doing a Blues project, just for fun, just because. Billy says, “One thing led to another, word got out, and suddenly, we were playing gigs by word of mouth.” Mike knew a singer/harmonica player in Joe (Vocals & Harp) that loved the Blues, and they had a friend that played bass. That bass player was Will, and with his musical background, things meshed together quite well. After a few years, Will had to tend to family matters, and through Will, Gerald was welcomed in on bass. Gerald has years of playing under his belt, and is a perfect fit.
Billy says, “I think the last thing the Musical World needs is yet-another Blues band playing endless shuffles, or their versions of Stevie Ray Vaughan songs. We mix genres, a 1940′s Blues classic with a modern blues-rock re-write…Country Blues, ala Robert Johnson, but with electrified Dobro through an amp, or playing Hendrix with harmonica, Dylan with a Dobro, a John Lee Hooker-influenced slide-guitar twist of Rolling Stones classic…even Motorhead, just because it was fun. No rules, no taking ourselves too seriously.” Mike went from a regular drum kit, resized to just a kick and snare with a couple of cymbals, trading in his sticks for a pair of brushes…minimalist to the bone. Just picture Motorhead with brushes…With Mike, less is more, and his ability to groove with the song shows it. “Some of the places we play require a lot less volume than regular clubs, so I started using a 5 watt guitar amp, even a 1watt amp, because the club requires a limit on volume level. My guitar-playing friends think I’m crazy…” Even Joe’s harp amp went down to 5 watts or 1 watt, depending on the gig. Joe uses different effects with his harp: distortion, Leslie, phasing, flanging, echo…anything to sound different.
The Blues is a great teacher, and it will teach you that what feels right,
isright. The Mojo Tones mix genres, within songs, playing Country Blues with Blues Rock, Jump Blues with Jazz, without any of the high-brow sensibilities. It still comes down to four friends playing music, for the love of music…” To find out more about The Mojo Tones, visit their facebook page at

This week’s Pick of the Week was created and ordered by customer Enzo Penizzotto. He is currently the
bass player in The Bebe Buell Band (Bebe is Liv Tyler’s mother). The band consists of Bebe on vocals, Jim Walls (Das Damen) & Pete Marshall on guitar (Iggy Pop, Samhain), Zac Lasher (U-Melt) on keys, Louisa Mysteria Bradshaw (Angels are jealous of her singing voice) on backgrounds and New Jersey’s own Sarah Tomek on drums. They have a new album called “Hard Love” – the pick stems from the album artwork. Enzo played with Bebe back in 1998-2000 before joining up with joan jett in 2000. He reunited with her last year in July. Other artists that Enzo has worked with include joan jett (2000-2010), the Batusis (with Cheetah Chrome from the Dead Boys and Sylvain Sylvain from the New York Dolls), played on the newest Beggars & Thieves “We are the Broken Hearted” album recently released on Frontiers label, also Eddie Sperry’s Screed the Psychological Profile album. In his downtime while at home, Enzo also subs on a Broadway musical show called Memphis. And he teaches from time to time at The School of Rock in Manhattan. He was a founding member of his own band Speed McQueen, which he started at 19 with Mark Lewis (produced Fly Leaf) on guitar/vocals and Joey Crifo on drums. Speed McQueen was picked up by Mercury records and had records produced by Tim Patalan (Sponge) and Ed Stasium (Ramones, Rolling Stones, etc) and toured extensively. Enzo was born in New York City and still lives there. He has been playing the bass since he was 14 years old. Professionally since he was 19 years old. Enzo says that he has been using Clayton picks forever, specifically the Acetal Rounded Triangle in a 1mm gauge. Find out more about Enzo and his career at www.enzopenizzotto.com. This week’s Pick of the Week was made for The Brian Davis Band, which formed in 2004 for a one-night-only
concert to raise funds for the music departments in the local Catholic schools. That night was an overwhelming success both monetarily and spiritually and ended with a feeling of what’s next! Since then, that concert has grown to an annual event drawing near a thousand together each year in worship and has raised nearly $35,000 dollars for youth music programs.
In 2007, the band was finding themselves more in demand for youth rallies, worship nights and church festivals. That demand came with a special call from God to begin to share their faith journey through original songs. As the songs poured out, the ministry continued to grow and touch the lives of countless Christians from their region. 2009 was truly a breakout year for the band; seeing their message spread to a larger audience, seeing their gifts helping the people of Uganda through a nationally released compilation album titled “Unified By Grace,” making their first television appearance on ” Lift Him Up Kansas” and completing their first studio album “Stand” which released in January of 2010.
The band is looking forward to the places God will call them to in 2012 and the opportunity to serve his people through their ministry.
For more information regarding the band visit them online at www.myspace.com/thebriandavisband42 or “like them” on Facebook!
The Brian Davis Band chose to have their picks made on our orange delrin material, which nicely supports their intricate black design. We loved the fine detail and creativity of their artwork. Brian told me that the design on the pick was inspired by Luke 12:24 which speaks of how the Raven, who has nothing, is cared for and loved by God. This passage intends to teach us that we, who have so many gifts, are loved as much… if not more. The Brian Davis Band has the same design for one of their t-shirts as well as on the front of their drum kit. To create your own custom guitar picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com today!

This week’s Pick of the Week is for LA Stryker, a Dutch rock-band founded in 2008. Their songs are honest and
real, deep down from the soul! When you listen to their heavy stuff, the rhythm section really holds the pocket. Together with the sharp vocal-lines and killerhooks on guitar, it certainly turns the time around! The band has also a few more poppy-songs in their repertoire. The latest studio-recordings are from last December so these tunes will be available online soon before spring 2012! LA Stryker has been rocking the stages all over Holland for 3 years now and in 2012 they are planning to cross the channel for a short UK-tour. To find out more about the band, visit http://www.lastryker.com/. LA Stryker’s picks were made on our acetal material, which worked really well with their full bleed design. GREETINGS to all you wild childs out there and welcome to a reborn and stunning melodic metal act. Featuring one of Swedens absolute most powerfull voices…

LOVER UNDER COVER !!! The first embryo of LUC goes back in time as far as 1982 when Mr E and Mr C were members in the southern rock act “Rain” together with one of Sweden’s most famous ZZ-Top lookalikes, Bengt Lundh. Setteled in the beautiful arcipelago outside Kungsbacka in the west of Sweden we all remember those crazy nights with Rock n roll ( and a couple of beers ) during endless Swedish summer nights. After that Mr E and Mr C were separated for a couple of years. Mr E working with his amazing and successful solo career and Mr C turned out to be semi professional musician and doing a lots of cover gigs at the pubs in the west of Sweden.
They bumped into each other a couple of times during the years and allways said that “we should realy do something togeather” Mr E started up Last Autumns Dream wich not need any further presentation i guess, and Mr C started up the first version of Lover Under Cover around 1992 with Daniel Boscovic as a lead singer.
Mr C and Mr B recorded about 30 songs during 4-5 years before they decided to go separate ways, and now…. 15 years later then finally Mr C and Mr E got the time and opportunity to take of in the project they always wanted to do. A new colorful, harder than ever version of LUC. And the Saga continues……..’); The LUC picks were created on our black celluloid guitar pick material, which was perfect for their logo which has a black background. We are excited and pleased to start 2012 off with the first Pick of the Week, made for the band
SOURMASH! SOURMASH is an accomplished group of musicians hailing from Pennsylvania assembled to pay tribute to the guitar-driven music of the south. Labeled as ‘100 Proof Southern Rock’, this band performs like the whiskey from which its name is derived – smooth with a strong finishing kick. The band’s high-energy performances have become legendary in its brief existence. Formed in 2010, the band has been a consistent headliner for motorcycle rallies, festivals, and clubs. In addition, the band has opened for national acts, such as Blackberry Smoke.
The powerful SOURMASH performances showcase the band’s many talents. Strong and clear vocals; a grinding three-guitar attack; lush harmonies of both voice and guitar; and the thunderous panache of bass and drums combine to define the SOURMASH sound. The musicians also display their abilities playing keyboards, harp, mandolin and fiddle to increase the aural excitement. The highlight of the show, however, is the participation of the crowd. Whether the audience is dancing, singing along, or shouting “Hell Yeah!” – it is that energy that keeps SOURMASH alive.
Take a shot!
SOURMASH is:
Craig Harnish – Vocals
Tim Henry – Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals
Nick Farine – Guitar
Chuck Carner – Bass, Harp, Vocals
Ken Harnish – Keyboards, Guitar, Vocals
Matt Knapp – Drums, Fiddle
To find out more about SOURMASH, visit https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sour-Mash/146397668710547 or https://www.sourmash-rock.com. We loved the design made for the SOURMASH pick, because it has a high amount of detail an intricacy, and it came out really well on our acetal material picks. This week’s pick of the week was created by Danny Jones for the Danny Jones Band (DJB). “Danny is
a versatile guitarist from in Northern California. Danny started playing guitar at the age of 12 after seeing childhood friend Larry Lalonde of Primus play Ted Nugent’s Cat Scratch Fever and Van Halen’s Ain’t Talking About Love. George was a huge influence on Danny in his younger years, getting Danny interested in playing jazz standards, classical and country guitar. In Danny’s late teens, he began to study with Joe Satriani. Joe had a major impact on Danny’s style and songwriting. In the 90′s, Danny won the Best of the Bay contest two years in a row and received airplay on FM 97.3. Danny has also appeared in Guitar World, Guitar for the Practicing Musician & Guitar Player Magazine.
