Pick of the Week — Madlove

This Week’s Pick of the Week was ordered for musician Madison Emiko Love, who performs under the name Madlove. Here is a little about her in her own words:  “My friends call me Mad. I’m part Japanese, French, English, and American. I grew up and still live in Los Angeles. Singing has always been my way of getting through whatever good or bad is happening in my life. I write songs for anyone who’s feeling social struggles, peer pressure, loneliness, and frustration, just like I do. Music is my escape, and I use it to keep track of all my feelings as they’re happening. My lyrics are all true, based upon real guys, wishful relationships, and issues that girls like me are facing everyday. My hope is that you will relate to the music and lyrics, and realize that we are all struggling together, and that none of us are alone.” Find out more about Madlove at http://www.livemadlove.com/ Mad’s picks were made on our acetal pick material, which is perfect for art that includes photo images. Pick of the Week — 80hD

This week’s Pick of the Week was made for the band 80hD, “which was formed this summer in order to perform at their North St. Paul, MN high school reunion.  They pulled together four people who graduated in the same year, which was no easy task, considering most of them had not jammed in a long, long time.  And their vocalist, although an accomplished singer, had never been in a band!  The reunion was a success and they decided to continue with their little experiment. A few months later, Bob (guitar) hosted a huge party which included having an opportunity to play at a local bar called the Dugout Bar in Mahtomedi, MN.  Several hundred of their closest friends and family came out to the show – it was a huge success for 80hD and the Dugout Bar! Today, they are playing gigs and drawing crowds none of them could have ever imagined 5 months ago.  Their fan base is already insanely loyal and is growing by the day.  They are having an absolute blast!  Their logo was designed by a high school friend/graphics designer/musician.  And frankly, everyone that sees it says the same thing – “that is an awesome band logo dude!”
80hD is a 5 piece cover band with a female vocalist.  Their music ranges from acoustic KT Tunstall and Amy Winehouse, to full on rock with Van Halen, Pantera, Poison, Blondie, and Nirvana, to name a few.  Their fans enjoy the fact that their lead vocalist can reach such diverse musical ranges, while at the same time creating a pure rock ‘n roll experience!
80hD brings 100% energy and an emphasis of fun to every show they do -they ensure that their audience feels like they are they true rock stars :) ”  Their Website: theband80hd.com Their Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/theband80hd. Here is a testimony from guitarist Bob, who ordered the custom guitar picks for the band: “I was looking to purchase customized guitar picks for our new band 80hD, and simply did a Google search to find the company.  The ease-of-use of the design interface allowed me to quickly create, design, and purchase our unique pick.  And the subsequent customer service has been tremendous…thank you!” -Bob  The 80hD guitar picks were made on our white delrin guitar pick material, which worked out really well with their full color logo.  To order your own customized picks, visit www.claytoncustom.com today!

Forever The Sickest Kids

We want to introduce Rico, Austin and Caleb of Forever The Sickest Kids who we have just recently endorsed! Here is a little about the band: “Success in the music business requires a magical combination of talent, perseverance and opportunity. The six young rockers in Dallas, Texas band Forever the Sickest Kids easily possess all this and more. They’re unquestionably gifted, ambitious and hard working, and in the eight months since they formed, they’ve repeatedly created their own opportunities – sometimes accidentally. Five days after their official formation, singer Jonathan Cook was flipping through the Pure Volume web site when, with a click of his mouse, he inadvertently spent $350 the band didn’t have on a front page song placement. Worse still, Forever the Sickest Kids didn’t have any songs written yet. So, over the next two days, the band members got together and banged out a track called “Hey Brittany,” then recorded it with their friend/producer Jeff Rockwell. “Buying that Pure Volume spot was an amazingly great mistake,” laughs guitarist Caleb Turman, noting how “Hey Brittney” quickly becoming the band’s first big break. “The song just took off and after that everyone was suddenly interested in us.” It’s easy to see why. “Hey Brittany” is a confectionary gem that combines elements of power pop, pop-punk, electro-pop and ‘80s radio rock into an unforgettable sing-along that resonates with the energy and vitality of youth. Contrary to popular belief, “Brittany” isn’t Britney Spears, but rather a girl who was engaged to be married, yet made no attempt to hide her affection for the members of the Forever the Sickest Kids”

Heartbreak Beat

Check out these rockin’ custom picks! We really liked the Heartbreak Beat design that was printed on our pink delrin material picks. When we looked into it further, we found out that they were made for a clothing company! The best part is that Heartbreak Beat makes clothes specifically to appeal to musicians. The company was “founded by musicians, for musicians and anyone who just digs the ‘rock & roll lifestyle’, for lack of a better term.” Employees of the company also play in bands themselves.  “In addition to their own line of tees, Heartbreak Beat does limited-edition tour shirts for the likes of Alkaline Trio, Cheap Trick, Cake, and others.” Check them out at http://www.heartbreakbeat.com. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

We recently just endorsed Joey, Randy and Josh of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus! If you don’t already know about the band here is a little more about them:

Originating in Florida, childhood friends Ronnie Winter, Thomas Amason, and Duke Kitchens started the band while attending a AP music theory class, in 2003. The band name,’Red Jumpsuit Apparatus’, was chosen by the band voting for random words they threw up on a wall. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus released a “6 song EP CD that was spread throughout different cities to promote the band in 2005. The band also began to become more popular as they used certain social media (Myspace) to advertise their music. In 2006, they released their first LP, Don’t You Fake It with the singles “Face Down“, “False Pretense”, “Your Guardian Angel“, and “Damn Regret”.From 2006-2008 the band did several headliner and supporting shows with bands like 30 Seconds to Mars, Madina Lake, The Audition, Saosin, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Taking Back Sunday, Lorene Drive, The Used, Monty Are I, Amber Pacific, Boys Like Girls, Halifax, Emery, A Static Lullaby, and So They Say. Their second studio album, titled Lonely Road, was released on February 3, debuting in the fourteenth spot in The Billboard 200, and was produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Daughtry, Less Than Jake, Hoobastank, P.O.D., All-American Rejects, Seether, Cold). In November 2010, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus entered the studio to record their third full-length album, Am I the Enemy, finishing in December 2010 with producer John Feldmann. The album’s first single, “Reap”, was released via YouTube on March 24, although the song itself was not released to iTunes until April 26.  The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus later released two other songs from their new album on their YouTube channel, “Salvation” and “Fall from Grace”. A June 7 announcement on the band’s Facebook page said the new album Am I the Enemy would be released on August 30, 2011. It would contain twelve songs.

Here is a photo of their current picks we just completed, they use our Colored Delrin in various gauges shown in the photo.

Pick of the Week — Kyle Reed

This week’s Pick of the Week was made for musician, singer, songwriter and band leader, Kyle Reed. The genres of Kyle’s music include Alternative and Acoustic. His label is Indie. “Kyle travels pretty much everywhere with several beat up notebooks containing pieces of his life in the form of songs and lyrics. Some of the songs contained in these notebooks see the light of day quite often while others not so much, some are works in progress, some are just sketches and some stand right up and get your attention, top all that with excellent musicianship, an ear for melody and an uncanny knack for arranging and you have well crafted, musically engaging songs that capture your attention and burn their way into your memory banks. An up and coming singer/songwriter, Kyle Reed is pushing his way into the music world, playing 4-6 shows a week with his band or solo and writing music whenever he can… currently in the studio working on a album which he hopes to release this coming spring. For more info… please check out news feeds to see what’s up with Kyle Reed!” http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Kyle-Reed-Band/216181001758585 We chose Kyle’s pick this week because we like the classic style of his design. He used a black background against our acetal material guitar picks, and it turned out really nicely. You can create and order your own custom picks today at www.claytoncustom.com!
