As their website states, “They are the swagger of the south, the energy of the sunset strip, the attitude of the borrows, and the dark side of bourbon street are just a few of the ingredients that make Blackwater James the new definition of rock n’ roll.” Dawn Greer Editor of Rock Music United says, “Blackwater James is definetly a great new band to be on the lookout for.” The band comes from the country capitol Nashville, TN. Despite the location they are definitely in the rock and roll genre and can be seen throughout the Nashville area. Make sure to stop by their website to see where they are playing.
Here at Clayton, we like to notice when we see designs that are linked together through a similar idea, so that we know what uses customers may have for custom picks besides for playing guitar. The picks shown here are some designs that we’ve produced recently that all have a commonality; they are all religious picks. We think that custom guitar picks are a great idea for churches to use as a giveaway item. Designs like these are also great for Christian rock bands to throw to their fans at concerts. Right now, Christian picks are the most popular that we have noticed for religious-themed picks, but we are hoping that we will get more designs from customers that represent other religions as well. We have seen a great variety in the Christian custom designs that will include crosses, Bible verses, and other religious graphics. The picks shown here are a variety of materials that we offer for custom design, including colored delrin in yellow (.73 gauge), acetal, and white pearl. So if you are looking for a special guitar pick that has significant meaning to you, design your custom pick today at www.claytoncustom.com.

Clayton custom guitar picks can be used as promotional items for many types of businesses. We have seen custom designs created for coffee shops, electronics stores, and tattoo parlors. Today, we wanted to feature these designs created for beauty salons! These are some cute, very feminine designs that are great for use on promotional custom guitar picks. Many beauty salons are looking for a way to give themselves differentiation in a competitive industry, and often the best way to do so is to give the business an “edge.” After all, people want to go to salons that are up-to-date with current trends. Custom picks are a great item to use in place of business cards for salons that want to stay trendy. The picks shown here are both two-sided designs, so they allow for text and graphics. Both designs were created for our white delrin picks, which make the red colors really pop out well. Here at Clayton, we love to see all the different ways in which customers us our picks, and we think that this is a great idea! If you have a salon or beauty supply business, or another type of business that you think would benefit from custom guitar picks as a promotional item, visit our website to create your custom design today! We have a really neat pick for this week. It is a guitar knob picture on a white pearl pick. The knob looks amazing on this pick and looks 3-D on it! Very impressive! The detail is amazing with our print on this pick, and it is literally eye popping! This pick was designed by The Tone Brothers. They are a really amazing Atlanta based band. To find out more about them please read their bio and check out their website below.
“Brother Doug McCombs has been laying down outrageous TONE with his guitar for the past 35 years. A veteran and founding member of Atlanta-based bands Fear Glory, Texas Crude and Gracie Moon, he’s opened for the likes of John Mayall, Buddy Guy, Ian Moore, and Gov’t Mule, and jammed with Jeff Healey. Whether rocking a packed house while headlining at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago and B.B. King’s Blues Club in Memphis, or grooving alone in his kitchen, Doug and his guitar engage in a dialog of the heart that transcends the moment. A dialog inspired and enriched by echoes of the soul-shaking TONE of his heroes– Jimi Hendrix, Mark Farner, Robin Trower, and Stevie Ray Vaughan–yet defined by his own distinctly righteous signature. Listen to him play, and know how it feels when a man and his guitar achieve total, ass-kicking TONE. TONE Brother Greg Hester grew up around Old School Gangsters & Legendary Wrestlers in Augusta, Georgia. Truly great music instantly changes the context, transporting the listener to the artistʼs world. With a clear understanding of his heritage, Greg introduces us to the voice of Southern Soul, infused with a TONE as heavy as the hot July haze. Along the way, Greg has shared the stage with Robin Trower, Warren Haynes, Johnny Winter, and Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, among others. He captivates even the most jaded of crowds with a stage presence, charisma, and burn down the house intensity reminiscent of his idol and inspiration, James Brown. The power and passion of his singing is matched by the heart and humanity of his songwriting. Listen to him sing and, and witness a man whose art bears witness to the strength of soulful survival and the regenerative essence of TONE.”
It is very popular for customers of Steve Clayton, Inc. to order custom guitar picks for a wedding. We have seen them used for many purposes, such as scattering on tables, favors for guests, part of wedding invitations, etc. One idea that we really like is to use custom picks for groomsmen gifts. During the preparation for the wedding, it is common for a groom to want to give a gift to his groomsmen as a thank you for their participation in the wedding. If the groom and his pals are into music, custom picks are the perfect way to give a thank-you that is both creative and practical! Custom picks allow for the names or initials of the groomsmen to go on the picks, along with the date of the wedding, and maybe a graphic that adds to the design. It is even possible to add custom picks onto the boutonnières of the groomsmen for weddings that have a music theming. Shown here are two examples of groomsmen pick designs, created for green delrin and white delrin picks. If the groom and his guys have been in a band together, the band name can also go on the pick (see the white delrin design). This can add a special significance to these gifts that show appreciation for the friends that help pull the wedding together. If you have a wedding coming up and are looking for something special to add, design your wedding picks today at www.claytoncustom.com.
During the past month, we have noticed that several designs have been submitted for printing on our black celluloid picks that are in yellow. The most common imprint color for our black picks is white, and red is fairly common as well. After seeing these yellow designs though, we have realized that the yellow on black makes for a great color combo that is sure to stand out! Our black celluloids are a specialty material that we provide as an option for custom imprinting. They are available in standard shape, and three different gauges; thin medium, and heavy. They can have printing on one or both sides of the pick. Black celluloids work the best with large text, and clear, distinct graphics. We have chosen to display the picks to the right as examples of designs that have the right qualities to really come out well. If you like the black and yellow color duo, try out your own design on our custom site: Clayton Custom Design Site!
This week we selected a guitar pick by country artist John Karl. He designed this amazing pick on our white delrin material. We love the detailed design and beautiful shades of blue. Below is a bio about this talented artist:
“John was a success before even moving to Nashville. Nominated for North East CMA Entertainer of the Year and Best Male Vocalist, John has had a No. 1 on the MP3.com country chart with “There Goes the Neighborhood” and “Small Town” was featured in the movie American Reunion. “If you want to know where country is headed, just give a listen to John Karl,” says Rodney Phelps, a top Nashville attorney who also worked with Garth Brooks and Chris Cagle
John won the local Colgate Country Showdown in Upstate NY and had a song on Christian Country Radio with “Just Love Her” in 2003. He has toured the USA and opened for acts Ricochet, Daryl Worley and Craig Morgan just to name a few. He has played lots of festivals, including Nashville’s CMA Festival and was the house artist in 2008 at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.
John Karl is the next big thing, with the right attitude, music, and performance style. He can get wild and pull out a tear-jerker right behind it. He knows what the fans want and he gives it to them.
Growing up in Niskayuna, N.Y., John has loved music all of his life and began singing at a young age. After high school he studied Graphic Design, was part of a professional water-ski team called the Coors Light U.S. Water-ski Show Team where he produced and performed the show and was a local Club DJ. While singing at a ski team function, a local funder made him an offer he could not refuse and helped him go to Nashville.
John moved to Nashville on Labor Day of 2002. He spent the next two years learning everything he could about the Nashville music business. He networked and got into writing circles and formed the duo Kalamity Jane. Soon after John went solo and began work on his self-produced album Redneck Rich Hillbilly Happy, released 2007.
As singer/songwriter John has a knack for a well turned phrase and is looking forward to his new CD “Are You Ready For This”. Due out in late August 2010.” To find out more information about John, please visit his website at: www.johnkarl.net Also, you can download one of his new songs for free on his website! Take a look at these pretty Hot Stamp Foil Guitar Picks. One of my favorites as they are always a surprise to see the color come out, almost silky looking with a beautiful bright shine. If you play the electric guitar, you’ll want these picks on stage as they look pretty hot with their bright silver and gold foil. We have other foil colors you can choose from like purple or red. The wolf in the design here is a great example of what you can do for a hot stamp foil custom pick. These picks can take about 4-6 weeks to produce, but they are definitely worth the wait. The classic’s restaurant & lounge really hits the mark for finding the right pick style with their brand. We want to see your creativity on the hot stamp foil picks! Explore our designer and find the perfect design for you today!
These white pearl custom picks are a must see. They all have their unique styles. The wavy peace symbol with the wavy pearl is a great match for the style of artwork. The fireworks on the Opry design look almost real as the white pearl provides a little twinkle to the sparks. If your going to give away guitar picks, I’d highly recommend our white pearl picks because they make an excellent presence with the pretty pearl look.
