Pick of the Week, Foo Fighters

Our pick of the week for the first week of April is the Foo Fighters pick! We have been making picks for the Foo Fighters for a number of years.  They always come up with some really neat design ideas, ranging from drawings of their kids, or one of my favorites is glossy black ink of a bomb on a dark charcoal matte pick. We had never thought of trying that, but it turned out very cool looking when they made those. You can see those picks on Dave Grohl’s mic stand in the picture below.  This week we are featuring one of their newest designs, which has their Foo Fighter logo on it in Red and Blue.  The back of the picks have XXX on it in different colors. We thought this was a really classic design and wanted to feature it.  These pick are printed on our Acetal Rounded Triangle 1.00mm.  Acetal is the pick most of our big name bands use. It has a great sound, and holds up without breaking during their long performances. It is a true Professional players pick. You can see more of their picks in our blog here.

Band overseas signs with Clayton “BILOCATE”

Bilocate is a band well know in Jordan. They came together with brothers Ramzi and Waseem Esayed, got started, and then joined with guitarist Baha’ Farah, and later added guitarist Rami Haikal. In 2005, they released their first full length album “Dysphoria.”  The album had received lots of airplay on the local governmental radio station on Jordan FM.  In July of 2008 they released the album pictured here, titled “Sudden Death Syndrome.” You can find videos of them with their “2nd War in Heaven” and “Days of Joy” videos. There are some similar guitar sounds I hear when listening to them, such like Metallica’s guitar style. The band members are fans of our acetal picks and are now interested in the ultem picks as well.  For more information about the band you may go to bilocate.net or you can find them on myspace.

Awesome Overbleeds

At Steve Clayton, we have numerous options for picks when it comes to custom design, and one of the options that people are curious about is the full bleed (overbleed) option. When utilizing the custom pick designer on our website at www.claytoncustom.com, there is a box that website users may check to add the full bleed option to their design. This means that, instead of having a small border around the design when it is on the pick, the design runs all the way to the edge of the pick. Shown here are some recent overbleed designs that we really loved. This option is usually chosen for designs that include photos or artwork, but can also look really good with patterned designs.

Tallboy signs with Clayton

A new 5 piece progressive metal rock band named “Tallboy” becomes endorsed by Clayton. Tallboy is a band from Medford, OR. They became finalists in the “Last Band Standing” as their amazing live performances continue to carry them to success. The members currently are Jimmy Roberts (vocals), Angel Alvarez and Justin Bullen (drums/percussion), Kevin Kaufman (lead guitarist), and Brandon Cregan (rhythm guitar). They like to use our Clayton Acetal 1.26 standard shape picks, along with our orange and yellow colored delrins. Tallboy has also performed with such bands as Hinder, Papa Roach, KMK, and Floater. They have two CD’s, their popular “No Hindsight For the Blind” and an EP, “We Aren’t the Champions” Be sure to checkout their shows for 2010 through their website www.myspace.com/tallboymusic1

Pick of the Week, Todd Simpson and Mojo Child

This week we selected a good example of a pick on our Ultem material. We love this pick, because it uses all kind of different shades of brown on it.  Ultem can only be imprinted with either brown, red or black. These colors look best with its Amber hue.  Todd Simpson is a very accomplished musician.  He has shared the state with the Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Huey Lewis,Paul Thorn and Phil Lesh and friends. Todd plays blues combined with a southern rock vibe.  He even recently preformed at the Whiskey A Go Go in L.A.  For more information on Todd and his high energy band check out the website: www.toddsimpsonandmojochild.com.

Easter Pearls

Easter is just around the corner, and we would like to draw attention to our colored pearl picks for the occasion! Aside from the colored delrins, the colored pearl picks are the only custom picks available in a wide variety of colors. Shown here are a few examples of what custom pick designers have created in the past. While we can only use black designs on the colored pearls, the options for the pick colors provide endless possibilities. Also, the colored pearls are available in six different gauges and can be created on both standard and rounded triangle shape. New Endorsed Artists, This Providence kicks off “Bout Damn Time Tour”

We are excited to announce today about the new endorsed artists from the band “This Providence.” The band was formed in 2003 in Seattle, WA. They have three albums, Our Worlds Divorce, This Providence, and the newly acclaimed “Who Are You Now?” which just came out March 17th.  The new album features the hit “Letdown” which is in the video below. Daniel Young commented on how important it was to take all last year to produce the new album “Who Are You Now” by saying “We took a long time off the road before going into the studio because we wanted to write songs that were dripping with creativity and you can’t rush that,” Young explains, “I think the end result is much stronger because of that.” The album has a lot of energy and we are looking forward to following them this year. The band members play with our acetal .63mm rounded triangle picks and our 1.0mm standard shape acetal picks. They are less than 5 days away from kicking off their headling Bout Damn Time Tour featuring TheAudition, Anarbor, The Bigger Lights, and Artist Vs. Poet. For more information regarding shows, band info, and artist news for This Providence you may go to their website www.thisprovidence.com

Spring Advertising

We have noticed here at Steve Clayton, Inc. that many people choose to use customized picks in lieu of business cards as a means of advertising their companies. These are some of the recent designs we have picked out because we think they are appealing and really work well on our picks. As you can see, custom picks can be used for any kind of business…not just businesses that are involved in music. The Coffee House pick is the first coffee business pick that we have seen in a while, but the design turned out great and it is an innovative way to get customers to remember the name of your business! So, if you are looking for a new means of marketing for your company, you should give Clayton Custom a try at www.claytoncustom.com!

From NBA to Music “The Ray Johnston Band”

Ray Johnston has a story we all should hear about.  He has gone from the NBA to his band now”The Ray Johnston Band”  The video below gives you an inspiring story of how one person continues to live his dreams even when the toughest obstacles can come along.  Ray was a former Dallas Mavericks NBA player that had to walk away from the NBA due to unexpected leukemia.  He bounced back after going through a coma and many days being in the hospital.  Jason Mraz said, ” When you listen to music…ahh yeah the person gets me…they know what it’s about and your now one of those guys.”  This Jason claims about Ray Johnston’s music.  He likes to use our popular acetal .63mm guitar picks and we will show his new picks once we finish them this week.  It is our pleasure to support such an inspiring musician and we look forward to following The Ray Johnston Band throughout the year.  For upcoming shows and more information you may go to these links www.rayjohnstonband.com, http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sweet-tooth/id327952492
